Its the same argument for stuff like Nine Lives. Its not that the card is bad, but if the card is only playable in the late game, and only after key targets are dead, assuming it doesnt get transformed or renoed out, then the card needs to win you the game or its never gonna be considered. Same reason for why stuff like Stranglethorn Heart is barely ever seen despite being a tradeable, and presents a nifty win con.

Its way too much greed for my taste. I chose amalthul as an example because thats in every priest deck, and even then I cant see this card being played.

Is it July 9th again? :)

Use your Trusty Fishing Rod to get your Catch of the Day. Very thematic but a 3 mana 1/2 weapon is very weak even for that effect.

    nice

  • New Priest Minion - Narain Soothfancy

Omega value card. You get to see what's coming next, you get extra cards, you even get another synergy on top of all that via Twilight Medium. Feels like Spirit of the Badlands already got powercreeped. Crazy good card in any Control Priest deck.

  • New Priest Spell - Rest in Peace

Finally some Big Priest support 🙄 Zilliax will love this. You could also res Aman'thul. I'm sure I'm forgetting something here, but I'm just as sure I'll find out about that soon enough.

  • New Priest Spell - Sensory Deprivation

This one is too expensive for my taste. There are too many conditions that have to be met here for this card to be good: You need 6 Mana, your opponent has to have something worthwile on board, you should be below 21 Health. I'll pass.

  • New Priest Minion - Twilight Medium

Taunt is huge here because it means you don't completely skip your turn. I expect this card to see a lot of play anyway, the effect is just so strong. Wild Reno Priests like to run Lorekeeper Polkelt and if you can chain these two you'll get a 1 Mana Hero Reno for example. Yikes. Standard is probably mainly looking for the synergy with Narain Soothfancy.

  • New Priest Spell - Nightshade Tea

The fact that this can't go face is a bit of a let down. 2 Mana deal 3 with an extra effect usually sees play, but in this case that will heavily depend on the question if the whole self-damage concept takes flight. For DH I'm optimistic. Priest? Not so sure.

  • New Priest Minion - Brain Masseuse

Those are insane stats for a 1 drop and it has the Pirate tribe tag! My initial euphoria was a bit dapened when Schmoopydady told me he was looking forward to killing someone with a Prize Plunderer though. Still, more often than not this will be super strong in Wild Aggro Priest. There are synergies with Treasure Distributor, Parachute Brigand, Patches the Pirate, Ship's Cannon, Thirsty Drifter, Sauna Regular and Frenzied Felwing. Let's just hope we don't kill ourselves using those :D

  • New Priest Spell - Hot Coals

Solid AOE spell, even without the conditional +1 damage. DH likes this a lot as well since it's quite easy for them to trigger the condition with their Hero Power. Good card, especially considering there's a high chance we're going to see several Pirate decks emerge.

  • New Priest Minion - Sauna Regular

You should never ignore Mana cheat, especially when it comes with a decent body and a useful keyword. I'm looking forward to trying this in Wild Aggro Priest :-)

  • New Priest Minion - Chillin' Vol'jin

That looks like a solid card for Reno Priest if I ever saw one. It's great for a meta that see lots of giants and if I understand the effect correctly, you don't even need a small token minion as the second target because Voljin can just target himself. Nothing fancy, but a good card.

  • New Priest Spell - Acupuncture

Very strong card considering it deals only 1 damage less than Mind Blast and is 1 Mana cheaper. I will definitely try to fit some of the new cards into Wild Aggro Priest. The big question is if you can afford to run stuff like this when other Aggro decks like Pirate Rogue beat you on the board. Maybe the new Sauna Regular helps with that? That one and Frenzied Felwing are the best synergy cards for Acupuncture imo.

  • All Perils in Paradise Card Reveals for July 9 - Day 14 [Finished]

Narain Soothfancy - Its not a bad card but Im not sure any archetype that actually wants to play this would be successful. It gives you two copies of the card at the top of your deck but you still got to pay full cost to play it, so its not really much of an advantage. Plus, playing a 4/4 that bricks your hand by two cards comprising of something that isnt certain, is not likely to be good enough in any deck outside of control. Perhaps it'll see play, but unlikely the win rates gonna be good.

Chillin' Vol'jin - Exceptional card against certain archetypes but useless in others. Will see play only if hunter cards are up to scratch.

Sensory Deprivation - Its 6 mana mindcontrol with the most pitiful condition ever. Basically broken as fuck assuming control priest can even manage to get back to form. If it does however, this card is undoubtedly toxic and will prob be nerfed

Twilight Medium- So you look at narain and think to yourself that this card must be broken. Well, the problem is this is practically a brick in your hand until you get narain out and until you reach a card you want to discount. So basically youre gonna be destroyed 90% of the time while this does absolutely fuck all.

Sauna Regular - I honestly think this would have been one of the most broken cards printed for a class that can barely ever take advantage of it. Like seriously, both dhunter and priest hardly ever have cards that damage themselves, and this is the only worthwhile reward for doing so. Prob gonna see play in dhunter, in priest though Im not sure.

Rest in Peace - Unplayable unless the most expensive minion that have died at your side is literally amanthul and no one else.

Nightshade Tea - Probably playable in dhunter, assuming it can be discounted consistently. In priest though this card is likely one of the worst cards ever printed purely to make other cards work. Take 2 damage to deal 3 damage...to a minion. Like even holy smite does that at one mana less.

Hot Coals - Not good for priest. Doing 2 damage to your enemy board is only barely acceptable, but at 3 mana though? Priest can do better

Brain Masseuse - Worthless trash. So you have cards that synergizes with taking damage. But this need to happen on your turn. So what happens is you'll prob just end up taking 4 damage to your face and lose a minion, whilst progressing none of your supposed payoffs. Not to mention that this is practically unplayable in the late game.

Acupuncture - Its 1 mana burn. Acceptable in aggro decks. Does priest have any? Well, none so far.

This is the weirdest ever set for priest because none of its cards seem to fit priest's playstyle, or synergizes much with anything they already have currently. The only exeception is sensory deprivation, whereas other cards like narain and twilight mediums are coin flips as to whether they can see any play.

Those hunter cards better be good. Otherwise zarimi might actually get nerfed yet again, because what else is priest supposed to be even doing next expansion?

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Adrenaline Fiend

Initial reaction is that this card is bonkers good. There's a lot of ways to Demon Hunter to summon cheap Charging pirates, not to mention the mass of really aggressive Pirates the Neutral set has (Coconut Cannoneer, Hozen Roughhouser, Sailboat Captain). Throw in Southsea Captain and Treasure Distributor, and DH can find a lot of ways to make its Pirates hit hard.

Sidenote: Am I the only one who didn't know that Marin the Manager is a Pirate?

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Sigil of Skydiving

This is a little weird, but it plays well with Adrenaline Fiend so it has that going for it. Maybe it works as pseudo-removal for slower decks, and maybe paying two to tell your opponent what to expect next turn is still pretty good for an Aggro deck.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - All Terrain Voidhound

This is here mainly to be pulled out of your deck with Cliff Dive, because otherwise it might be one of the most underwhelming minions in the set. Doesn't have Rush, can't do anything the turn it comes down unless you use another card to give it Rush. Clunky, expensive, probably too much of a hassle to make it work. (But if Big DH is actually a thing - which I would love - this might be a decent card to run)

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Skirting Death

This is... interesting. It's definitely not removal, but I can see a world where Naga DH runs this for extra burst damage or if they need to borrow some Attack to deal with an annoying minion. It's just cheap enough that it wouldn't break the bank to combo it with Going Down Swinging in Reno DH, so maybe it's got a home there as well.

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Paraglide

I kind of feel like DH might have more (and better) card draw options, but Shaman is probably thrilled to run a spell that draws so many cards. I think it's possible to brew up an Aggro Shaman that can Outcast this on the regular. And sometimes it's OK to draw your opponent a few cards if you're going to kill them anyway (or if you see a chance to mill them a little).

  • New Demon Hunter Location - Dangerous Cliffside

I'm on the fence with this one. It feels like it's either going to be a non-factor or an incredibly oppressive board generator for a variety of aggressive decks. If Pirate DH can wrest the mantle from Shopper DH and Naga DH, it could be because of this card. I'm honestly more interested in seeing this Shaman in combination with the Tourist for a couple of random 2-Drops (although Doomsayer is in Standard...)

  • New Demon Hunter Weapon - Climbing Hook

It's a little too slow for a 5-Power weapon that isn't much more than a 5-Power Weapon; if it was something like a 4 Cost 5/1 with the same drawback maybe I'd be more into it.

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Cliff Dive

I've been burned way too many times by Big DH. I love the idea, but it always seems to fall flat in some way. Big Shaman might be an option, even if you have to pollute your pulls with a 2/2 minion to put this in your deck (since that minion is kind of great with the idea of rushing a big minion in and killing it off). I'm sorry: I'd like to believe in Big DH but I just can't.
