Yeah at first I was a bit skeptical but watching the awesome reveal video by Wronchi I got a better feeling for the card. Definitely very strong, might even get nerfed to 6. Isn't targeted removal supposed to be a weakness of Hunter? I can't think of another Hunter card that allows you to destroy a specific minion without any strings attached from the top of my head...
6 Mana, 3 damage to all is absolute crap, right? I guess it is a little more versatile, since if the board as a bunch of 1-Health tokens you only need to spend 2.
Sasquawk - Its a good card that will see competitive at some point. As to what it will actually do, Ive no idea because it can be anything from board reload, to a hail mary for lethal. Guess we should think ourselves lucky that this isnt a rogue card.
Ranger Gilly - A card that is good for both sides of hunter and priest. Specifically dangerous in zarimi priest, and might actually get that deck nerfed a third time.
Death Roll - I like it because it basically means any board that has one minion on it will just attack your opponent's face and die. Whether it'll see much competitive play depends on how consistent such a thing actually is because outside of that its simply too expensive.
Chatty Macaw - Useful mostly in priest because hunter spells that target opponents tend to be small and undirected.
Furious Fowls - The intention, is probably to have the other cards repeat it like chatty macaw etc. That may account for the fact that this card is so slow, and probably more expensive than its worth. Its practically Trolley Problem at twice the mana. At least it can hit face, I guess.
Birdwatching - Play this along with dorian, get two sasquawk and then the following turn do it all again. Dangerous, but thats really about it in terms of value.
Parrot Sanctuary - Its dangerous as hell. You can build yourself a really low value deck, play this and get three 1 drops on turn 2 (1 on coin). If both hunter and priest have good draw engines, this card is straight up busted and would probably be nerfed to 3 mana.
Trusty Fishing Rod - My opinion is that its not really good. 3 mana to do 1 damage and get a one drop is not exactly gone value. When you consider that desert spear has three charges, and summons 1/1 with rush, how is this better by comparison?
Pet Parrot - To be used with pet sanctuary to fill your board with 1 drops. Decent card for any aggro deck.
Catch of the Day - Its a good one drop, particularly when pulled out without battlecry. The problem? Well its not gonna suddenly start making stuff like pet parrot and fishing rod broken cards. Only thing good here is that its a 1 drop with battlecry, and its a 3/3 rush minion.
Have to say, hunter cards always have this uncanny knack of being ungimmicky and direct to the point. This certainly doesnt disappoint in this expansion. I can see plenty of potential for hunter, but more so for priest. Ironically the best set for priest this expansion are the hunter cards.
I hope I'm wrong but... This is ridiculous, right? This is 5-Mana "Kill your opponent's biggest thing and use its Attack to whittle down the rest of their board (or just send all of that damage face)." The AoE aspect is certainly weaker than Starpower, except you're guaranteed to kill the minion you most want to kill. I'm pretty certain that Priest will run the Tourist to get access to this card (and a few others), and I think it's just cheap enough that we'll see it in aggressive Hunter decks. I'm probably the person who's the highest on this card, but it feels really strong to me.
There are so many good 1-Drops that don't have drawbacks - if you're running this it's probably because you're specifically looking to take advantage of its self-harm ability, either using it to discount Sauna Regular or turn its drawback into upside with the Tourist. It is a pirate, which plays well with all the Pirate payoffs in this set, so I think that DH might have a reason for playing this but I don't see it in Priest. Most of Priest's cards in this set feel like DH cards, but that's OK because most of Hunter's cards feel like Priest cards.
It's fine. Good AoE for Naga Tourist DH (especially as a way to soften the board up on a Sharpshooter turn). I think that for Priest, it's going to be slightly worse Holy Nova on average, but maybe if Priest is running Nightshade Tea it could be talked into running this. And then there's just the idea that Reno Priest can run this as Holy Nova redundancy.
This is strong removal. I think both Priest and Tourist DH will run it - Priest because it needs more cheap targeted removal for early game (and this is 3 removals for the price of one card slot) and DH because it both deals with opposing boards and feeds into self-harm payoffs like the Tourist and Sauna Regular. Will definitely see play.
As far as Standard goes, there's not a lot of minion cheat that Priest can use to get a big body out early. So we're probably going to see this as a spell to target resummon big minions after they were played fairly. Zilliax, Aman'thul, Yogg are all great hits if you've already had them die. If you can regularly get minions like that, then this is a great card. However, I'll say it's decent at best, at least with the support it has right now.
Even with all the self-harm tools Priest has gotten, I think I see this more as a reason for Demon Hunter to run the Tourist. In Standard, I just don't think there's enough stuff for Aggro Priest (but I would love to be proven wrong). This is a really strong card for DH, though. I think I expect Naga DH to go Tourist, and maybe a few other archetypes could try it as well.
The Battlecry is pretty good in combination with Narain Soothfancy, and otherwise a risk (unless you're only running expensive things, and in that case your whole gameplan is a risk). I like that it has Taunt, that makes this a lot safer to play on turn 6 against an aggressive deck. I think this has legs and could very well find a home in slower Priest decks.
Funhouse Mirror is just better, right? It costs 3 less and is effectively removal for things you want to remove and copy for things you want to copy. I don't think your average Reno Priest is going to look at the cards it has access to and say, "Yeah, this is one of the 30 best cards I could run."
Do the Fortunes stick around like Spirit's Mirages? From a balance standpoint my guess would be no and I'll judge this card with that assumption. It's good. Good value for Priest, getting to know what they're drawing and even play it a turn before they have to draw it (this is kind of like Warp from Eternal, which was my favorite mechanic in Eternal), you can also get more intel for Twilight Medium. This is really strong, it looks like Priest will be the King of Value in the new meta pretty easily. The most promising thing is that Priest also looks like it got a lot of good removal tools to help it stay alive against faster decks.
There's no huge standout from Hunter's set, but I think there's a few very good (weirdly enough) value cards that Priest could absolutely love running, whether in Reno or some other scammy Priest. Death Roll is ridiculously powerful removal, Sasquawk could be very powerful (I'm assuming "repeat" doesn't trigger Battlecries, otherwise Reno Priest would be VERY annoying), and Parrot Sanctuary and Birdwatching are useful value tools. Funnily enough, I think Priest got more useful tools than Hunter did from Hunter's set.
And Vol'jin himself is good enough as a cheap minion.
New Hunter Spell - Death Roll
Yeah at first I was a bit skeptical but watching the awesome reveal video by Wronchi I got a better feeling for the card. Definitely very strong, might even get nerfed to 6. Isn't targeted removal supposed to be a weakness of Hunter? I can't think of another Hunter card that allows you to destroy a specific minion without any strings attached from the top of my head...
New Shaman Spell - Malted Magma
6 Mana, 3 damage to all is absolute crap, right? I guess it is a little more versatile, since if the board as a bunch of 1-Health tokens you only need to spend 2.
New Rogue Spell - Petty Theft
Well, its a way to get a trigger for Velarok Windblade. That probably at least makes it not garbage.
New Death Knight Spell - Corpsicle
So as long as you have corpses, you can use this as much as you want. Most of the time you aren't lacking for corpses, so this looks really good.
New Neutral Minion - Drink Server
This sounds pretty decent. All the known drink spells look good. Maybe not top tier though.
New Paladin Weapon - Volley Maul
I don't how many sunscreen generators there are, but it seems weak and slow. Certainly fits the theme of the expansion though.
New Neutral Minion - Weapons Attendant
I guess if you have an expensive weapon, this might be helpful. Body isn't that impressive, so I'm not sure.
New Neutral Minion - Travel Agent
Most locations seem pretty good, so this might be nice. Some might be pretty useless with some decks though.
New Druid Location - Hiking Trail
Use this, Hero Power, use it again. Then next turn, Hero Power, and use it the final time. Well, it gets you few taunts quickly, that's for sure.
New Shaman Minion - Cabaret Headliner
Sounds extra good with Buttons. As for Shaman decks, probably needs more support.
New Neutral Minion - A. F. Kay
Realistically, how many minions are you going to have starting on turn 5? Then you play this, and end your turn without a single attack or trade.
New Paladin Minion - Sunsapper Lynessa
This might be powerful. Looks like there are enough Paladin spells that would benefit from this at the very least.
New Death Knight Minion - Buttons
I don't know how well this would really work out, but drawing spells for every school represented by Death Knight and Shaman sounds nice.
New Neutral Minion - Marin the Manager
Look a lot better than the original Marin. Though I think only the draw 3 cards and make them cost 0 treasure is good nearly 100% of the time.
