Big announcement happening today at Blizzcon for Hearthstone! We got the trailer for a new expansion, Battlegrounds goodies, an overhaul of the Journal, and, most exciting of all, Monk finally coming to the game! Sadly, the class will only arrive in March, likely with the release of the new Hearthstone year.
The Monk class has an interesting history. It was released in World of Warcraft all the way back in 2012 as part of the Mists of Pandaria expansion, alongside the titular Pandarian race. While the expansion initially received a lukewarm reception at best, it eventually became one of the most beloved ones, thanks to its unique setting and engaging story (and the raids didn't hurt it).
In terms of Hearthstone, Monk is the third class added to the game since its launch, after Demon Hunter in 2020 and Death Knight in 2022, though we did get a taste of them in 2017 via Arfus and The Lich King. Seeing as it's only two years between those two, and it will have been 4 between DK and Monk, it's no wonder players are impatient to see it come to the game.
Sadly, we'll have to wait a while longer, since the class comes out next year, as mentioned before. This does mean we'll get an expansion centred around Pandaria, much like the previous two classes had expansions focused on them. We'll just have to do like a proper monk, and be patient.
