  • New Mage Spell - Raid the Sky Temple

I was thinking of a way to utilize both Mage quests in the late game. Say you play Raid the Sky Temple first; complete it and generate more spells with either the new hero power or spell generating cards like Mana Cyclone. Then play Open the Waygate if you luckily pull it early enough; complete it so now you have a bunch of spells and that extra turn. Play more spell-generation if necessary. Reduce their cost with 1 or 2 Leyline Manipulator. Slap Malygos down and unleash discounted damage spells. If you're opponent is still alive, pray that you have Pyroblast. I don't know, I'm not the best at deckbuilding and Mage has limited defense and healing to last through the late game.

How does Nine Lives work in this deck. It doesn't activate but only discovers right?

It's either a discover for the villain or a Deadly Shot with the bomb.   When I ran Lost Spirit it was an expensive Power of the Wild.

  • Three New Cards Revealed - Mage Quest (Raid the Sky Temple), Weaponized Wasp, BEEEES!!!

They added the 10 mana 10 spell Yogg card.  Bonus for this card over yogg is that it’ll be more like pre nerf yogg since it can’t murder itself with the first spell and fizzle after one cast

  • New Druid Spell - BEEEES!!!!

Not a big fan of the card's name. Zap! and Wispering Woods are bad enough, but an all caps meme reference? Come on Blizzard.

  • New Druid Spell - BEEEES!!!!

This might be the first "minion based attack" that bypasses taunt at a targeted minion instead of at random.  However, I put that in quotes because it's still a spell attack, even though it summons four 1/1s to carryout the attack.  Think of it more like if Swipe could only damage a targeted minion for 4, but it summoned a 1/1 for each damage of overkill.  That's kind of what this card is.

Actually, it might be better to think of it as a distant cousin of Imp-losion: It does direct damage, but in some circumstances, you'll get some 1/1s left over.

This flavor makes me so happy.

    BEEEES!

    Bees!

One thing a Cyclone Mage gets is a cheap spell.  You don't have cast the quest Turn 1, but can save it for when you play Sorcerer's Apprentice and go off.  One more spell for the Mana Cyclone turn.

Late-game, though, it's just an "infinite value" hero power, that's probably more meaningful than the ping.

  • Hey! I created and account on this site just to thank you for the deck.
My favourite class is Mage, i play since feb 2014 and i love highlander decks as well. I got bored of HS a year ago and since Reno Mage was my favourite deck of all time i decided to craft it golden with the dust i gathered over the years. But this deck, man. I t's something else, i love it!  I´ve been climbing with almost no losses. And yeah, i made it golden as well (i have 0 dust, but it was worth it :P)

It would be nice to add you ingame!

You can also get them to attack say your own gurubashi beserker which would survive and gain 12 attack

There's also a question of how Linecracker and other Overkill minions would work, as it would happen on your own turn and thus could theoretically trigger the Overkill. Play Linecracker, somehow have it live a turn, then play BEEEES!!! and watch that Attack skyrocket like an Inner Fire Priest. Until they patch it out for being an unintentional combo lel.

The hero power for this deck is generally a filler for extra mana, not really used much out of early game.  This would be a big upgrade for later in the game, even with the randomness.  Also the turn 1 for this deck usually plays nothing.  Some people will play Magic Trick if they have it in the opener but most will save it for the cyclone turn unless they are fishing for an early answer for aggro.

After some thought, I don't think Wild Quest Mage wants this. Say that you play both quests.

Let me stop you right there, and point out you can only have one Quest active at a time. Kind of disappointing, as I would have liked to see what double-Quest archetypes people can come up with, but it is what it is.

I could use free cards.  Plus I'm darn sexy if you squint.  Bonus points should be assigned for that.

  • New Mage Spell - Raid the Sky Temple

After some thought, I don't think Wild Quest Mage wants this. Say that you play both quests. That means your opening hand is -2 cards, which is already kinda catastrophic (mulliganing Waygate is suicide, if it ends up in the bottom 1/3 of your deck, you can't win). Considering the utter decimation your opener took from having two quests in it, I think running Cyclone is pretty risky, as you're essentially top-decking and you risk running into some pretty terrible bricks. Cyclone wants you to stack a hand full of cheap spells before you play the Cyclone, while this quest wants to be played ASAP so that any stalling or mid-game spell generation you end up doing counts. So your hand shrinks, you're top decking, and you'd need to guarantee Cyclone to really go off and even complete the 10 spells quest at a reasonable pace. For that reason, I'm guessing Cyclone is out of the deck.

At that point, you can just stack a bunch of stall, with freezes, defensive secrets, etc. and complete the quest that way, but then, your Open the Waygate is stuck being useless until you complete the first quest. By that point, decks can do some filthy, filthy things and you start running out of freeze. So completing Open the Waygate off of the spells generated by the hero power is way too slow IMO. You cannot just start working on your Waygate quest by turn 6 or something, by then you should be over halfway done if you want to keep up. The majority of games I've won with my version of Cyclone mage, I'm usually one or two turns away from running out of stall or Ice Blocks, so slowing down the deck with another quest is not something you can afford, I think.

Therefore, I think the two quests each go into a different deck. You put this in casino burn mage, where you can stack your hand full of cost reduced spells and then spam the opponent's face off with Tony and Flamewakers once you accumulate enough mana (or Sorcerer's Apprentices), and Cyclone Quest Mage remains unchanged. Its current builds are just way too efficient to need this.

  • Three New Cards Revealed - Mage Quest (Raid the Sky Temple), Weaponized Wasp, BEEEES!!!

Keep in mind that, whether or not SoU Quests receive more support, they're intentionally designed to be both less restrictive in terms of completion (and, thus, deckbuilding) and less impactful in reward. We're not generating game-altering (or game-ending) effects with these Quests, which is good because most of them can be relatively easily completed in the mid-game.

    Good luck people!

  • New Druid Spell - BEEEES!!!!

This is definitely interesting fuel for Floop's Glorious Gloop

At least in Standard. I doubt they can be(eee!!!) consistent/fast enough for Wild tho.

    But i'm going to try.

  • Most recent comments on news posts

I prefer OOC to Hearthpwn in most ways right now, but the one thing I liked better on Hearthpwn was that the comments were displayed that the latest comment was on top and the oldest was last.  I do think this was a preferable system.  If you don't make it in time to make the front page of comments it feels like whatever you say is often buried and unseen.

Keep up the great work on this site, getting better all the time.  As another bit of positive feedback, I notice your news posts go up faster than HP in general.  The recent developer interview was on the news site almost a full day earlier here.

  • Is Hearthstone running out of ideas? Could it some day?

I remember asking that about Magic the Gathering some 20 years ago.... <_<

I played a little of the online format for the first time in a long time the other day, they have plenty of new things to offer even now.  It's possible to keep these games feeling pretty fresh for a very long time.  The cynic in me would cite that even though there are over 150 cards every set, most of those are filler and will see little play.  Essentially they are designing 30-40 impact cards, some ok to bad cards that utilize new mechanics, and a whole lot of terrible cards to round it out.  This means there is plenty of room to keep this game going.

Awesome card, will have to see how good ShuffleLock can become though..
