  • Have you ever crafted a golden legendary for a favorite deck?

    Nope.

I am a F2P and my pragmatism has prevailed so far. Also, despite having favourite decks, none of them feels BDF (Best Deck Forever) to me, I keep rotating, and sometimes innovating what I like.

I am much more inclined to spend dust for a new card (or an old one I do not own) that inspires my deckbuilding, even when off-meta, eg. I recently crafted Lyra the Sunshard (for my Wild Miracle Priest).

  • 10 New Hearthstone Cards Coming to the Game, New Hall of Fame Additions

It would require a rarity change, so I would imagine no.

  • Menagerie Shaman

Nah, Hagatha would be too slow for the deck and the board clear attached to her has anti-synergy with the deck.

  • [Game] Deck Doctor Challenge!

Update 1:  Ended last night on a win streak at 12 and 1 star and have kept it going so far (10 and 1 star atm).  This is definitely not the strongest version of Control Shaman, but it's a ton of fun if you like generating value and adapting your gameplan around that value each match.  (P.S. Please excuse the n00b win total, haha...I told ya I don't play a lot of ladder didn't I ;D )

DD Challenge 1(sorry, can't figure out how to embed a pic from imgur here...links above)

Here's the list I tested out this evening.:

    Deck Doctor Challenge #1

Wild · Shudderwock Shaman · by RangDipkin · 7 years, 2 months ago

    Changes and rationale:

+1 Zap! - synergy with Thunderhead; draws Earth Shock when played with the frog

+2 Doomsayer - anti-aggro; benefits from the ability to roll a taunt totem on Turn 4; synergizes with low tempo plays such as EVIL Cable Rat on T4 and Swampqueen Hagatha on T9; at the very least can generate some value if you draw it late and have played the Hagatha DK

+2 EVIL Cable Rat - lackey generation and lackey battlecries are really fun with Shudderwock; the transforming lackey works great with Giggling Inventor or Shudderwock; the 1/1s generate spells after you play the Hagatha DK; and the 1/1s also feed Witch's Cauldron and serve as targets for spells like blood lust and the storm bringer

+1 SN1P-SN4P - synergizes with Zilliax and Giggling Inventor; the 1/1s can feed your cauldron; playing the 2/3s as separate bodies generates great value after you play the Hagatha DK

+1 Witch's Cauldron - I simply love playing with this card and there are a lot of tokens to generate value in this deck.  The other benefit of only running 1 Spirit of the Frog is that you can run fewer spells and still reap value which means you can run fewer/better spells.

+1 Thunderhead - great stat line; synergizes with Zap!, Sludge Slurper, and Witch's Cauldron; plenty of potential to draw more overload spells through witch's cauldron, haunting visions, the spell generating lackey, and hagatha DK

-1 Totemic Smash - liked Zap! better
-1 Ancestral Spirit - liked getting valuefrom witch's cauldron
-2 Lightning Storm - replaced with doomsayers because I wanted more 2-drops, minions in general are more valuable in Hagatha DK decks in case you draw them late; cutting a spell creates more consistency from the Frog in the 3-cost spot; and I've just never liked overloading for that much on T3
-1 Zentimo - don't own, tried replacing with Vargoth initially, ended up with SN1P-SN4P because he's OP
-1 BGH - thunderhead replaced him to deal with wide boards (have 2 Hexes and the Earth Shock for big boys)
-1 Unseen Saboteur - tried out Hecklebot with some success, but ended up cutting for an early-game minion in the form of cable rat
-1 Walking Fountain - great card but didn't feel the need for 2 without ancestral spirit; cut for another cable rat

I haven't played any ladder this month (and don't play much ranked in general), but I had a lot of fun going from 15 - 12 tonight.  The deck felt strong/had a high win rate, but it was a super small sample and I faced mainly control match-ups.

  • Guys, Warlock is so bad right now

What about priest? Look how they massacred my boi.

  • Guys, Warlock is so bad right now

Coming from somebody who has played since vanilla HS and who uses quite a few warlock decks in wild (with the busted cards we have there) I can't really say I feel bad. Warlock has had such an overwhelming presence in top tier meta status when you take all previous metas in mind that I'm perfectly fine with the class taking a back burner in the standard format. It's about time the class feels what it is like to not have 'god-cards' like Defile, Gul'Dan, Godfrey, or even the old Voidcaller / Mal'Ganis vomitted into their laps.

  • Have you ever crafted a golden legendary for a favorite deck?

Recently I crafted a golden Sonya for my Spectral Pillager Rogue (in the sig) because it has long been my favorite deck. I may also craft a golden Valeera down the road too at some point. Sure, crafting cards in golden is certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but once in a long while I like to do a little extra for a deck I really like. Baited for those shinies.

Have you ever crafted a golden legendary for a deck or specific card you really enjoyed?

  • [Game] Deck Doctor Challenge!

    Challenge #1

We'll start things off with last week's episode featuring Slysssa's "Fun Shaman."  This is a Shudderwock Shaman that leverages Spirit of the Frog and a bunch of battlecries to control the board while you chip away and shuffle bombs into your opponent's deck.

Once we have a spoilers feature I'll include the alterations Firebat made in his final version, but to avoid bias I'll hold off for now.

  • [Game] Deck Doctor Challenge!

"The question in each and every thing, 'Do you want this again and innumerable times again?'..."
    - Friedrich Nietzsche, The Gay Science, 1882

    Hi everyone,

The "specter of infinite monotony" threatens many of life's pleasures and sadly Hearthstone is no exception.  So why not spice up your HS experience with a new deck to master/improve every week on your journey to legend?!

The game is simple, each week someone (likely me) will post the deck picked by Firebat for his YouTube show Deck Doctor.  Your job will be to take Firebat's place!

    1. Copy the original list and take it for a test drive on ladder.
      • Leave comments on your reactions to the deck here!
    2. Make changes to the list and try, try, try again.
      • Only constraint is to preserve the soul of the original deck.
      • Although Firebat limits his changes to Standard, feel free to take your build in a Wild direction :)
    3. Upload your favorite version of your list here and tell us about your experience!

If there's interest, we could even hold a weekly competition to see who can climb the highest in both Standard and Wild with screenshots/replays uploaded and a leaderboard and all that jazz.

We could also expand the game so that people submit their own decks to be doctored by the OOC community!  (slowly morphing the thread into the deckbuilding challenge of old...and then my plan will be complete, muahahah ;D )

OK, enough of this small talk; doctor, you're needed in the OR, Stat!

  • Guys, Warlock is so bad right now

No need to overthink it.  Historically, non-zoo warlocks have been unplayable whenever there is not enough good healing options available in rotation (the last time this happened was Un'Goro).  Zilliax is not enough and the other healing cards are too weak.  Face damage is inevitable because the point is to tap yourself down.  This weakness is compounded by the amount of burn-based decks in the meta right now such as bomb hunter and bomb warrior

Lack of healing and presence of burst is also what's making Jaraxxus bad.  15 health is 3 bombs.  Or 2 bombs and a few weapon swings.  Or 1 bomb and not keeping the board completely clear at all times.

Still, warlock isn't lacking in threats.  At minimum, warlocks will always have mountain giant, twilight drake and the occasional ancient watcher package.  It's not as OP as mage highrolls right now, but the hero power would ensure a more consistent steam of threats and board refills after answers

The board clear situation is 3.6 roentgen, not great but not terrible either.  Defile spoiled us.  We shouldn't compare our board clears with one of the best clears ever printed.  Lord Godfrey still exists.  Shriek and Hellfire are pretty bad right now because, again, there is no good healing in rotation (Hellfire deals 3 to face and Shriek is something like "1 mana, deal 2 to minions and your face", since it "costs" a tap)

  • Expansion Speculation - Where Are We Heading To?

I call BS, post a clip!

  • Expansion Speculation - Where Are We Heading To?

At first I thought the clues pointed towards Pandaria, but after what we saw clues wise in the single player content and the cards dialogue it's looking hard like Uldum.  I still hope it's Valley of a thousand blossoms, and Pandaria stuff, and a Pandaren Hero Card or 3!

I felt like Lei Shen hero skin was a clue towards Pandaria.

  • Expansion Speculation - Where Are We Heading To?

Lol you got Uldum and Ulduar mixed up.

Ulduar was the Wraith raid that is considered one of the best pieces of content in the game. Uldum is considered one of the worst pieces of content in the game as in beta it had an actual storyline relevant to the expansion and explained why Al'Akir sided with Deathwing and the titan presence there. Between Beta and Launch, they trashed the story line and turned the whole thing into cutscene heavy Indiana Jones references with Harrison Jones.

  • Expansion Speculation - Where Are We Heading To?

That makes 100% sense. Ethereal like Rafaam have a connection to the void and the Voidlords, along with Madame Lazul serving the old gods. N'Zoth was using Deathwing to get the Voidlords Azeroth's titan soul. That's the plan, resurrect Deathwing, he destroys Azeroth, the Voidlords get its titan soul, and the Old Gods fulfilled their duty. Boom, Togwaggle, and Hagatha are just being used as useful idiots.

    Quote From YJHS2000

Really I think Control Warlock is just a couple cards away from being playable, but without those cards its just awful. I miss Defile so much.

I don't want to stomp all over your post, but there are probably a lot of people who disagree with your nostalgia for Defile. You're right, though, Warlock has been cut down to pretty much nothing and it isn't very nice. The best you can do is hope for a brighter Warlock future. I also enjoy using the Warlock class. Having played the game enough, I have also learned that it doesn't hurt to try out some of the other classes because eventually, the rotation comes, and it stomps all over your favorite deck. I do indeed recall how playing that Defile card destroyed any hope of the opponent winning the match, especially when I could cheat out some Void Lords after that, or maybe slap out a Hellfire and then some Void Lords. And then let them kill my Void Lords and other things with the Demon tag and subsequently slap out the Death Knight card and resummon all the Void Lords. Etc. It was good fun for me when I got the nuts

There's always Wild, though. According to what I've seen, Control Warlock is chugging away quite nicely on the Wild side. Also, over there, Gul'dan has access to all kinds of broken cards to create a horrendously intimidating and defiling control deck that can wipe the board on every turn with the right draw.

  • Expansion Speculation - Where Are We Heading To?

If you play the lyrics to the Dalaraan expansion backwards, you hear Reno's voice.

  • Expansion Speculation - Where Are We Heading To?

Mmm, all this speculation is delicious, like spaghetti.

Does this mean we can DE our golden Mind Blasts and Vanishes?

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

What to do about these mech hunters everywhere?  Every match I play I see a mech hunter, coming at me with their stupid Missile Launcher + Venomizer, which probably costs them 6 because of dumb piece of shit Galvanizer.  Argh!

It's like the keep galvanizer and venomizer, and ursatron to get tempo while fishing for missile launcher.

I think power creep largely killed jaraxxus. I hadn't even considered him because I haven't seen one around in *ages*. There's just too many decks that can kill you from 15 hp.

I really wouldn't mind if he was reworked to be more in line with a regular hero card because I really like mistah J, but boy does it feel bad to have you max health capped at 15. If he worked more like Alexstrasza , where you could heal back up to 30 afterwards and retained your armour, he'd be a lot better in 2019 Hearthstone.

One big reason why you can't: classic.  Hero cards were acceptable because they were going out in a few years.  We can live with Dr. Boom for one more year, but after that we'll be done with him.

Jaraxxus isn't leaving if he gets buffed.  A buffed Jaraxxus in an expansion would be cool.  A reliable Jaraxxus in Classic is a No No and would get HoFed anyway.

Simply put: if it's in the HoF, it's either going to be weaker than a typical expansion card or be HoFed and replaced with something VERY much weaker.

As far as I'm concerned an evergreen set with actual good cards in it is unsustainable anyway. I'd rather they bite the bullet and introduce a rotating base set than continue to HoF and nerf classic and basic into oblivion. What good is Jaraxxus if he can't ever be played?

  • Expansion Speculation - Where Are We Heading To?

In WoW, Tekhan's role in the story is that he aligned his tribe with Deathwing in order to cure the Curse of Flesh and make the Neferset entirely stone, as opposed to the fleshy Ramkahen tol'vir. It could be that the objective in Uldum is to resurrect Deathwing. Many people have speculated that the third set is Deathwing/Dragon Soul related based on the color scheme, and it could be that Tekhan and Rafaam's plan succeeds and we see the third expansion based around a revived Deathwing attempting a second Cataclysm and the heroes' desperate attempt to stop him. This would certainly fit the Year of the Dragon theme, as there is hardly a more iconic Dragon in Warcraft than Deathwing.
