I am pretty new to Arena (and hardly played Magic before). I just switched over from Hearthstone (which I still play and enjoy, too). The are still so many new effects and combos I encounter and keep wondering how to deal with them.
As there is no "Classic" Set in Magic, it would be helpful to replenish the card base when a Core Set rotates out with either:
a) Give away the new Core Set for free ... [^_^] ... yes, I know ...
b) Or at least hand out a dozen free booster packs for the new core set (or somewhat similar).
Otherwise, the loss of cards with each rotation would be truly substantial. Or not?
The "New Player" experience essentially sets you up with a load of core and initial cards for the season you are in. I don't know how they handle new seasons for new players, but it's possible that it may include a "Starter" set of some sort.
That's interesting.. so a 2- mana "add a random animal companion to your hand" would probably see play then
Also means some kinda thematic spell hunter based around the companions may work..
The Stonehill was just an example of cards that would bring class cards more often so would get value from companions shifting pools.

I remember the other wild bundle with 40 packs for $25 and I got enough dust to craft 2-3 legendaries. (that was because I opened a golden legendary so I probably wont get that lucky again). but now with 56 packs. . .
it is just too much to miss for too little a cost.
Tarim isn't just good, he's in the "how did this card avoid getting nerfed?" category.
Wilfred is a bit too slow is most decks, but he does work in Even Warlock, in my experience. Keeping a 0-mana card in your hand helps reload the board after a clear. And Even Warlock has enough threats that the opponent doesn't always have the opportunity to remove Wilfred on the turn he's played.
Malorne's ability isn't often useful. While it does allow you to escape fatigue, other cards like Jade Idol and Astral Tiger do that as well. What can be useful is the beast and deathrattle tags: you can resurrect him with Witching Hour and N'Zoth, the Corruptor.
I don't play Ranked with this deck because I tend to chill a lot around Casual. I think you can reach up to Rank 15 for certain, and to Rank 10 if you try hard. All decks I made actually fit into "Just for Fun" category. However, when I made a fun deck that is also serious/strong, I label it as "Ranked".
It's the first bundle in awhile that I will pass up. But that's mostly because I am a Standard player almost exclusively. I also have about 7k in dust that I'm just sitting on. And I have spent a fair bit of money on pre-orders and small bundles this past year. Gotta let some of them go. Especially when I don't really need what is on offer.
Because nowaday Krush deals 8 damage for 9 mana, while Leeroy Jenkins + Hero Power deals the same for 7 mana. This says that without beast synergy King Krush is pointless. At (8) mana instead it could be played with the hero power, becoming as strong as a Pyroblast, that isn't crazy strong, and becoming better then the neutral Leeroy, a thing that class legendaries should be.
King Krush is a beast and it has an eight health booty, not to mention not summoning dragon whelps for your opponent. Yes, that might not be relevant right now, but when Big Hunter was a thing Krush saw play in that deck and Leeroy did not.
If anything your comparison just highlights that Leeroy is still too strong as the one consistent finisher card that's played across classes.
I always wished for this mixed mode also. Seasonal changes, so people wouldn't have time to complain about this or that broken deck and also having the chance to get some packs from old times (with gold maybe).
This site looks great! Very nice. Sad to hear about the departure from HearthPwn, Flux! All things considered though, this seems way better than HearthPwn and probably something that will make you grow as a person.
