  • Paper Magic

    Quote From MalcolmReynolds

I love playing tabletop Magic. I play Standard and Draft at my friendly local game store, I haven't been playing long enough to have the right collection for Modern, and Commander is too much for me. Draft/Sealed are probably my favorites because you get to open the most packs. I have been playing paper Magic for almost 2 years and I have been playing Arena since beta. And I have to say, paper Magic is a lot more fun.

I definitely think that draft is the best way to play Magic, it always feels the most 'authentic' to me. I'd say Commander is a close second, it can be daunting when getting decks to ready to play against people at your LGS with high powered decks but if you're into having fun I can't recommend playing Group Hug or Chaos Strategies enough. These strategies can have huge impacts on the playgroup but are relatively affordable since your playing a pile of cards that nobody would want to play in a competitive format.

Hey! The decklist seems to be missing a couple of cards. Earthen Ring Farseer shows 4 copies... I’m interested to know what 2 cards aren’t included in the list.

  • Help: Quest mage

Basically all what RavenSun has said plus the fact that you should save your Devolve (which should be a two of in every shaman deck) for their Doomsayer if they're playing freeze mage so your board stays alive.

  • Any Other Single Class Players?

I played almost nothing but Paladin for the first year I joined this game. Then I got into Shaman when Even Shaman was powerful, and I'm now split between those two classes. I just feel better playing them, more comfortable, or at ease. Maybe it's irrational.

  • Any Other Single Class Players?

I mostly play Shaman but sometimes I tinker around with Warlock, Hunter and Druid. But Shaman is the one I'm the most creative with and my only golden portrait so far.

  • The MtG:Arena Player's Club Tavern... of Doom....!

I've slowly been playing more MTGA and less HS for many reasons.  Relatively speaking, you could say I'm new to MTG (although that's not entire true, as I played a long time ago when I was a kid, but there have been a lot of new mechanics introduced since then).  Are there any guides for new players, specifically on how to maximize my experience in MTGA and on basic strategy?  I often find myself topdecking as early as turns 5 and 6 - since mana comes from cards in your hand, this seems really easy to run out of resources early in the game, am I better off not playing creatures??

(edit - I've played through and unlocked all the starter decks, have not yet used those codes for additional free packs)

Also, I opened up an Ugin, the Ineffable last night - it seems like a pretty powerful card but maybe I'm just seeing all the flash and none of the practicality.  How good is this?

  • How many golden legendaries have you opened?

Playing since Kobolds and I still have not opened any golden legendaries. I'm semi-f2p and bought in total about 120 packs from different promotions. But I had two pack openings where I had 2 legendaries in each which makes up for that. I actually prefer this over having a golden legendary.

  • Any Other Single Class Players?

I mainly play Mage. Played the class a lot on my wife's account at first as she got a beta invite and I didn't. Then got the class to 500 wins on my own account before it was expanded to count further. It shows 1706 Mage wins in the game ATM.

I also played Warlock , Druid and to a lesser extent Paladin, Priest and Warrior. But less and less as time went by. The last couple of years I only played HS if there was a Mage deck I liked, otherwise I just completed quests from time to time, usually in short friendly matches only aimed at completing quests quickly.

Warlock is 468/500 and Druid is 484/500, but I don't feel like going for a golden hero with current decks. TBH I don't feel like playing at all with all those mechs and Warriors. The only tribe decks I liked were Dragon-based.

  • Help: Quest mage

Well, it's not an easy matchup, even when favored, but I feel you're doing something wrong in your take against them.

And/or you actually fell against a lucky turn for them, where you couldn't push enough damage, and they could freeze your board optimally each turn. But it's not always the case, as their freeze effects are finite, however numerous. While you, as Aggro, should be able to unleash quite a bit of burst damage, even if just for a couple of turns.

Have you tried adjusting your deck with some spells/weapons? Are you including Loatheb? Being able to pop their block one turn earlier with damage from hand often means game over for them. One extra turn of Ice Block up, or Flamewaker, or Sorcerer's Apprentice, and you're in for a tough game. You must ensure their key threats are vanquished asap.

I normally climb as Even Shaman, and if I can curve out decently, Miracle Mage are favorable matchups. Surely a lucky triple Ice Block can happen and it means you're doomed. But that's RNGesus doing. It doesn't always happen.

On the other hand I tried my own Miracle Mage in the ladder, and even tho I was able to defeat Odd Paladins sometimes, I was doomed whenever I couldn't properly fend off with decent Flamewaker powerturns.

  • What lore characters do you think are overdue for an appearance in hearthstone?

I'm really surprised there is still no Kael'thas in HS.

At first I thought T5 didn't add him because they wanted to make him a hero. That's fine by me, but now we have a lot of mage heroes, including Khadgar and also a Khadgar legendary. Which means they are willing to use major lore figures more than once. Yet there is still no Kael'thas.

Hope he wouldn't be wretched or something, just to fit an expansion theme. Or a mech. Team 5 likes mechs a bit too much for some reason.

  • How many golden legendaries have you opened?

At least 10 which isn't bad for f2p player BUT this is across NA, EU and Asia.

3 of these I dusted (pally quest, Fjola Lightbane, Noggenfogger).

  • The Last Chapter of The Dalaran Heist is LIVE!

Reached Vargoth (battle 10) twice without any problems, once with Paladin and once with Druid.

Then it's board clears every turn so even my doubled deathrattles couldn't keep up.

    Frustrating as hell.

  • Year of the Dragon: Arena Rotation #2 (June 3rd)

Going first is now more horrifying than ever in such a tempo mech meta.

  • How many golden legendaries have you opened?

Playing since KoTF and I've never opened a golden legendary

  • Help: Quest mage

I play murloc shaman in the ladder mostly, and literally all kind of quest mage is problem: And now the cyclone/aracane giant tempo mage is more popular, but I run into an exodia quest mage pretty often, and yesterday a "make 5 vargoth, play the time warp, get 5 turns in a row, and play arane missles)

  • Any Community Compendium for RoS?

    Quote From bence

Will we see any Community Compendium for Rise of Shadows? I can't recall seeing it on Hpwn, but always enjoyed them for the past expansions.

Can the editors use data collected there or agreement denies it?

There wasn't one mainly due to the state of Hearthpwn and the fact that work was being done on this site. I dont anticipate one for RoS as site features are much more important currently, but i don't doubt we'll see one for the next set. Especially with all automation.

  • How many golden legendaries have you opened?

For longest time I had never opened any but recently I opened King Krush; Gral, the Shark; and Khadgar in golden in pretty quick succession

  • Jambre's Token Mutate Shaman

    Quote From Deepflash

I am currently trying it out and this deck is fun. I wonder if Snip Snap would be nice in here.

When Snip Snap gets drawn by Jepetto, will the Echo Copies be at 1 mana too?

No Echo'd cards will have their original cost and stats.

  • Any Community Compendium for RoS?

Sorry, that wasn't my intention. :)

  • Arena Balance Update - Getting Win-rates Closer to 50%

My win rate when playing arena is already %50 exactly, no matter what kind of deck I draft, if I win 3 games in a row, I always lose the next 3. And if I lose 2 games in a row I will probably win the next 3. It's weird.

  • How many golden legendaries have you opened?

Ok looking back through collection now...i've got 21 golden legendaries. As far as how many I've actually opened? I've only crafted two, Sylvanus and Rag cuz of nerfs. I did disenchant Deathwing golden (forever regret!), and I've gotten a golden legendary from promotions/bundles each time they've been available, which is only what, twice or thrice now? Been playing since a couple months after beta, and I buy some packs each time an expansion comes out :)

  • Bloodscalp Strategist Experimentations... Again looking for inputs

I think the Scalper really suffers from the weapon condition in standard. None of the hunter lists has more than a couple of flexible slots and both of the available weapons want to be played with secrets or beasts respectively. I like the card but playing it as a vanilla 2/4 is just so bad that it doesn't make the cut.

Maybe in an upcoming set Hunter will get a decent weapon that plays nice with either the bow or the hatchet and Scalper can be made to work.
