  • New Neutral Minion - Famished Fool

This is going to be one of those sleeper cards.  Everyone will jump for joy about drawing 3 cards!  Then they see that waiting for a few things to die first may be hard and then subsequently dismiss it.  After playing around with how easy it is to get little things to die to match the board, the value of this card will start to rise again.

I am almost certain that within 30 days, this will see a lot of use, especially with Aggro stuff.

Well, we saw our first Nerf of the set.  Did we learn nothing about this guy with the spells?  Colossal minions coming out super fast is scary.

You're looking at at least 6-7 mana to cheat something out, or even more cards to cheat Kael out then a big minion. It's hard to chain minions together, so you're probably only getting this effect once. Which class plays this card? It doesn't seem worth it.

Sure. No way this will end up as the cornerstone of some game-breaking combo and will need a nerf so fast space-time around the card will warp. Yup.

  • New Warrior Spell - Burden of Pride

Control Warrior has been making a slow but steady come back.  The only trick to this is doing what you can to AVOID gaining armor and letting your health drop a little to get use out of this.  Pirate Warrior could use this to help stifle the mirror, but that is extremely situational.

Likely, this may be used.  Great idea, huge potential, I think it may fall on the lesser side though.

  • New Warlock Spell - Tome Tampering

Amazing for wild... not the best for standard.  I'm looking forward to how this can be abused.

  • New Rogue Spell - Serrated Bone Spike

Cost reduction is great.  Awesome synergy for the Miracle Rogue builds that is obviously intended

  • New Paladin Minion - Muckborn Servant

3 for a 2/4 blocker that replaces itself?  Totally worth it.  At the least, it gives you fodder for Lightray

  • New Mage Minion - Suspicious Alchemist

If you are running something like this, you probably couldn't care less if your opponent grabs a copy of the card you discovered.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Kryxis the Voracious

AWW MAN this card is Sooo good. I know most people don’t realize it yet but Razorfen Beastmaster andDeath Speaker Blackthorn are still in Standard! You can easily cheat this card out without playing it’s battle cry even in the off chance you have to play this Deathrattle DH run out of steam real quick. I’m excited for this one to come out

  • New Hunter Minion - Batty Guest

Infuse fodder.  It's great for Infuse, I will certainly give it credit for it.

  • New Hunter Spell - Frenzied Fangs

How hard is it for aggro hunter to have 3 minions die at any given time?  2 mana for 6/6 in stats on the board?  Worth it.

  • New Hunter Minion - Spirit Poacher

I like this.  The dice roll of a random buddy with a bonus of potentially getting a 4/2 weapon along with it, superb.

  • New Druid Spell - Natural Causes

    TOKEN DRUID FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Bibliomite

This is a pretty solid card.  It allows you to CHOOSE which card isn't necessarily helping you, but you want to see later in the game, and shuffle it for later.  Great size for 2 as well

  • New Demon Hunter Weapon - Magnifying Glaive

I'm kind of leery about this.  So often has DH run their hand out... so why not make use of a weapon that will help you out right?  However, I am skeptical about this due to the fact that anytime that seems to be ok with running your hand to nothing, it usually backfires.  This, hopefully, will correct that

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Kryxis the Voracious

I Want to like this card... I really really do.  I have seen so many situations where DH is cardless... so why not make use of it?

  • Three Cards Revealed by Roger for Castle Nathria, Including New Demon Hunter Legendary

I don't flip my shit when DH gets new stuff - I actually thought the sigils would be a good way for DH to distinguish itself, and hopefully they keep getting printed. I just get annoyed that nearly everything new to DH is a rehash of something either druid, hunter, rogue or warlock already does, and rarely combines tools in a way that sets them that far apart.

When DH started it was a hodge-podge of core aspects of those 4 classes thrown together in a way that removed the weaknesses that makes those classes OK in the wider ecosystem (it also didn't help that DH was seriously overtuned). Now, DH is a hodge-podge of core aspects of those 4 classes plus a few of their more niche features.

The constant need to regain hero attack looks unique, but you only have to look at questline druid to see that's not entirely true. It's just they committed to supporting it properly in DH whereas they always half-arsed it in druid. That alone would probably justify DH's place if the resultant gameplay didn't end up suspiciously close to rogue when that class has decent weapon support.

Ultimately I want DH to deviate their theme and finally break free from the design space nestled between the aforementioned classes. I want it to feel like decks that only DH could have made, rather than the stream of decks that are technically different, but would have felt at home in one of those classes if the devs chose to print the cards there. I just don't think we've got there yet, and the new discard stuff doesn't change it.

Edit: I should be fair. Combining disco-lock with hero attacks can definitely be considered a way to combine the tools of classes that can only be done in DH. So I'll happily wait before nay-saying the archetype. I do still wish DH could find something more unique though.

  • New Rogue Minion - Ghastly Gravedigger

I'd say we should be expecting Rogue secrets to be revealed sooner or later, as I highly doubt they would print a secret synergy card in an expansion and have zero secrets to support it. This looks like a pretty nice disruption card, but I'm sure the quality of secrets will determine if it is worth running this card.

While on paper I don't disagree, in practice these don't hold up all that well because:

    • I don't know if I have ever seen a DH reach fatigue and lose because of it. While edge cases do exist, it's really rare for DH to suffer for not having value generation, especially as card draw is almost always the stronger of the two.
    •
    • DH's AoE plays out a lot like warlock's AoE and messes up their own board. So just like warlock never uses AoE in its aggressive decks (and hunter and rogue never have AoE to work with), DH never uses AoE in its aggressive decks. So yes, in principle DH is combing tools that these 3 classes don't. But at the level of individual decks it doesn't really work out that way.
    •
    • Rogues also use hero/weapon attacks to pressure the opponent a lot of the time. I think it depends more on what they are playing against than which of the two classes we're considering. There are definitely some differences when comparing rogue's weapon buffs to DH's temporary attack buffs, but they are still very similar as far as the gameplay is concerned.
    •
    • I'll grant you token DH has its own interesting twist, and it was always the one side of DH I actually liked. The problem is this twist is underutilised, even to the point that DH doesn't seem to be making much use out of the infuse mechanic this set. Meanwhile hunter - which always did this to some degree with Scavenging Hyena - is looking like it will lean heavily into infuse. That just ends up supporting my claim that we didn't really need DH to do the stuff DH does.

Often we find DH does these things better than the other classes, and hence their version is the one we see in the meta, but that's only a sign that DH had more/better support. Look at the recent deathrattle rogue for instance: it could easily have been designed like the DH version and nobody would have thought it was out of character for the class, but instead it became a complete meme because the class has no deathrattles to work with.

  • Kael'thas Sinstrider is a New Legendary Card Revealed by LoveStorm for Murder at Castle Nathria

And here i was thinking that the game's direction is gonna change towards something slow(er) and with no mana cheating nor other similar stuff. Was even planning to come back to the game.

Guess I was wrong and i'm glad i didn't. Doing everything you can to design cards that end the game when they come down (and probably the draw randomness being skewed towards drawing these cards after certain points too) is not the kind of game i enjoy nor think is a design good enough for a team with years of experience...

Sorry blizzard, but with cards like these... you're not worth my time nor money.

Already thinking how I can use this in a Ping Mage list!  Imagining a Wild list where Mordresh does 40 damage in one turn!

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Bibliomite

this synergises with the new t4 7/7, by reshuffling something we can't play and don't want to lose

  • Three Cards Revealed by Roger for Castle Nathria, Including New Demon Hunter Legendary

Kryxis the Voracious seems really a weak card

  • New Neutral Minion - Sinrunner

Sinrunner (AKA Blanchy) has a very interesting story in WoW and she's a collectable mount

The flavor text kinda alludes to it

Blanchy was said to be an affectionate and well-behaved horse in life. How she ended up in Revendreth? We're too afraid to ask.

There is Hedge Maze that can trigger this deathrattle, so it's not absolutely terrible.
