For a second I want to imagine that you're a card game designer, creating a design document that outlines the creation of a game.
You start by listing out all of the different factors that might decide winning a match or losing, and then creating logical and relavent design decisions as a direct result.
Scenario A: the person with the biggest number on one side wins.
1. Will there be spells that can influence the math represented by a creatures attack - no?
2. All spells effects will be integrated into creature text
3. Cards get played at the same time
4. There will be 3 locations which will provide a small degree of variance and decision making where none would exist otherwise
So what this effectively means is that the decks that present the strongest one sided board states invariably win...period
Scenario B: The person who goes from 20 to 0 life loses
1. Well you can cast spells to decrease life, so you need healing and counter spells to compensate
2. You have creatures, but you also must be able to block attacks so you don't die
3. You have buffs that are temporary that can only be played at the moment of combat interaction, but also permanent buffs for tribal decks
4. You can cast spells to kill units one at a time or all at once.
5. You have special wincons that don't involve life manipulation
You see the addition of a life total in a card game creates opportunities for spiraling design opportunities.
Games that don't have life Totals are simple a matter of bigger number wins, and without the means of direct interaction there is never a reason to play a deck that presents lower numbers then bigger ones unless you're just locking the opponent down so they can't play.
What you end up with is a dumb game by design, and it shouldn't be a surprise it was in the design document all along.

With 2022 coming to a close, I wanted to compile a nice presentation for every alternate hero skin. Alternate heroes are something I'm strangely passionate about, despite how inundated we are with them now and the fact that I don't even play Hearthstone anymore.
This is a visual list of every alternate hero skin organized by release order, as well as the year they were released. To qualify, the hero has to be a different character than the base hero, and only one character per portrait is counted. That's also including the two that are in the game but not currently obtainable.
EDIT: Apparently Whitemane and Mal'ganis are currently purchasable. My bad. Like I said, I'm not playing the game.

Can anyone provide a list of cards that have had their types adjusted? I don't have Hearthstone downloaded anymore (I don't really plan on playing it again), but I would like to know which cards were changed. I've noticed a few bizarre ones in videos I've watched, like Igneous Lavagorger is an Elemental Beast now.

So they printed two new self dmg cards in the most recent expansion.
Here to help, and blood Pigeon.
Both are very strong in Vlad
But guess who's number one on the rotation chopping block?
Thats right the self dmg champion
Forget about rotation Riot you'll ruin your amazing game.
Oh and this deck is actually pretty good now BTW.
Is it a meme yes, but it's a strong meme and isn't that what card games are all about?

I waxed poetic quite a bit before about how wild mysticism is the single best Freijord card since lisandra and three sisters.
Single handedly elevating the region to the likes of druid from hearthstone which was always the intention (midrange freij still saj)
But another card came out that no seems to be talking about and boy is it a doozy.
Back in the day of shurimas release people used to talk about the uber deny, and how toxic it was deleting a chain of spells for a mana crystal.
But nobody is saying anything about the cycle deny in bandlecity. You see the thing about deny is that its kind of a "bad card" ie. It's verrrry high value the turn you play it and kinda gets worse with subsequent uses.
So having deny simultaneously thin your deck and get you to your wincon is insane.
It's good too because the region needed another pillar card like pokey stick so they got pokey deny and it makes bandle city a valid control region consideration once again.
Good job Riot I'l admit I thought Darkin saga pt 2 was kind of a mess and I criticized Part 3 for being low impact but you really take a closer look there are some game changers.

People are very quick to flock to strategies that are simple and effective in LOR.
Zoe elusive, hallowed card pile, bilgewater aggro, not realizing that with the release of part 3 of the darkin saga that a massive number of good cards hit the table.
We got elite support, we got ramp support, we got acess to the full playset of darkin weapons which are all broken.
We got new spells, new followers, we got poros, and the list goes on.
Yet everyone is just like durrrr hallowed 1 drop, hallowed 2 drop win game plz durrrr?
Meanwhile I'm like boom quadruple ramp 8 drop what chu do now do nothing deck?
Play actual archetypes, play actual decks with actual wincons, actual champion level ups, and actual reason to play and win.
Don't just play the 54% winrate card pile vs the 52% winrate archetype.
Because you will ironically lose against anyone who isn't hedging their bets against mediocrity as hard as you are.

Hi folks!
Is anyone playing Skyweaver?
I just started playing it and seems really nice. Might look like HS but it's really not. There are different layers of complexity to it that make it fresh and interesting.
Now, has anyone played enough of it to know if it's playable without paying any money even later down the road? I.e. not becoming frustrating and such.
Thanks!

The good is that there is a massive number of unique decks and archetypes that achieve unique goals.
The bad, there's 100ds of non unique decks that essentially just jam easy agressive high value cards that don't actually do anything.
Why is hallowed one of the highest played archetypes in the history of LOR?
It's idiot proof and it goes in everything.
Why is Freijord the least played region?
It requires you to do the most bs to be playable and win games. (Although wild mysticism is a great buff)
So why did people leave?
Well the cool decks are generally worse then the dumb decks.
Ryse releases and requires a ton of bs to play well thats 40% instantly
Ionia gets a nerf and stops being a powerhouse? Well nobody is gonna play it.
Meanwhile hallowed decks will exist in the game forever as a ubiquitous and easy form of high value aggro.
So while I will always enjoy the core LOR experience of smart deck vs smart deck playing for unique wincons.
I'll also hate the game for its lingering hearthstone elements, who curves the hardest while denying easy value for the opponent.
Since the last event (don't know if that has influence) battlenet is constantly disconnecting when trying to start playing hearthstone. And more annoying it does it while playing the game, when…
Since the last event (don't know if that has influence) battlenet is constantly disconnecting when trying to start playing hearthstone. And more annoying it does it while playing the game, when you finally managed to get in.
Uninstalled and reinstalled it.
Modem and router unplugged for half an hour.
I have a good connection, and i don't have disconnections with anything else.
It's pretty frustrating not to be able to play in a normal way.
Anyone has this as well?
and/or
Someone having a solution for this?

One of the things I liked about LOR is that there weren't any "best decks"
You could take a Swain deck that was powerful in vanilla LOR since the games launch, give it a numbers tweak during a patch and just go right back to winning with boat 3 years later.
But in snap it is a numbers game.
If you can play a card like brood and tripple or double buff it with the likes of patriot and silver surfer.
It's like gg good job you build the most vanilla of all decks that synergies with the most vanilla of all cards and you won by putting out the biggest numbers...gg go next? You win?
Ideally in card games people like to build "archetypes" not "anti archetypes" and when the anti-archetypes get better than the archetypes as your reward for spending money or grinding the game since day 1.
Like good for you I guess? Just not sure that's for me, like maybe if you want to get to infinite but if you're beating up free to play players in Plat that's just sad.
Once again we are running into the greedy pool 3 problem, every now and then you will face these decks you dont have the tools to deal with so Ben Brode can get your money.
This is why I hated hearthstone and I hate to see it here in snap too.

Hi there!
I just found this forum and I've been trying to find places to talk about Snap that aren't reddit.
I wrote a handful of early game guides (and one guide on Apocalypse) but they're on a different site. I couldn't see any rules about promotion so I just wanted to ask first so I don't step on toes. If the answer is no that's totally fine. Just thought a guide to early game cards and decks might be helpful to anyone who is starting out and I spend so much time thinking about Snap, I just wanted to share and discuss my lists.
Cheers and Merry Christmas!

So Marvel Snap definately has a noticeable pay to win curve.
Pool 1 = easy and fair climb
Pool 2 = much the same
You can hit vibranium very easily with just basic deck building sense and a normal amount of smart play.
But you hit Pool 3 and oh boy
It's just Wong into magic into crazy late game power spike combos
Meanwhile you're like wow I own all of like 3 Pool cards...like I guess venom is cool, human torch, idk I haven't gotten any new wincons yet.
So when you hit that wall collection level 500+ where cards are no longer guaranteed
The developers are expecting you to essentially pay money to guarantee free wins.
Not because youre better, or because you're Galaxy brain, but you simple have an inherrant advantage.
So this is the ugly predatory side of snap.
The developers are aware of it, they purposely shield you from it sub collection level 500
But it doesn't stop them from turning on the drip and beating you with the stick after that once they have you on longterm retention.
It's for that reason that I would hesitate calling snap the mobile game of the year personally.
It could be, it might be, but it's also greedy and nasty in a way that LOR never was.
How do you craft cards?? It wont let me if i dont own one copy already. I want shattering blast but it wont let me craft it.

Hello there. I noticed recently while revising my decks. It was titles not showing intended colors. Please have a look at these two pictures below:

Noticed color difference between titles? I was trying to color titles as lime but they revert into white after saving for some reason. It wasn't the case 1-2 days ago, now I don't understand why it's the case. The issue is present not only deck shown above these pictures but other ones I've made as well.
I look forward to it being resolved. Thanks for reading and take care all.

short update. It could depend a change in the deck. I added blue marvel. This card is coming nearly 100%.
confirmed. Took blue marvel out. And Patriot showed up immediately.
I just received a message stating I got 1600 free dust. Any idea why?

It's always bothered me that I couldn't find a single source for Hearthstone's card and hero sounds. So, as someone trying to learn how to code, I built one as my first significant project!
HearthSFX
I spent most of the last couple months extracting and mapping the game sounds for each card and hero - Scholomance Academy included.
The site includes every play, attack, death, trigger, and entrance sound for each minion where applicable - including tokens and other non-collectible cards. The heroes and hero cards have all their available gameplay (thinking, out of cards, out of time, etc.), emotes, errors, and holiday voice lines. Any special interactions between cards and heroes are mapped in as well.
It's best viewed on non-mobile devices at the moment, but I plan on improving this for smaller screens in the future.
Please let me know what you think!

Everytime I fill The raft, I get [Snap Card (Galactus.) Not Found] I've had Knull twice and I think Giganto once, but every other time it was Galactus.
(Also, the Danger room's rate of destruction is 75% for me. I have yet to see one of my opponent's card die to it)

Very strong for Dino decks you force extra resources out of your opponent while if you draw him late game he just makes your t Rex bigger.
Pool 2 is very important for movement archetypes, destruction archetypes, and discard.
While Pool 1 you're kinda forced into Swarm, Dino, or Odin.
So yeah looking forward to Marvel Snap getting a little more diverse and complicated as my collection expands.
This keeps happening to me: between rounds, I place Maestra in the optimal position, then she moves over right after I click "ready," ruining my strategy. Has anyone else encountered this?

People who want DK buffed are not realizing this class has 5 expansion and 4 minisets less cards than every other class right now.
Not to mention it would probably break arena.
Buffing DK also wouldn't help it against any more decks really, it would just be even stronger against the decks it's already strong against or it just become extremely busted to the point where Blizzard just has to go back and nerf it after the buffs.
DK may need some tweaks but not straight up buffs. If they're gonna buff it they need to nerf some problem cards as well.
For example Patchwork should not be a 1 rune card.
Instead of buffing they could just use the miniset to add some support to the class, DK is lacking in cards not strength.
