It's been a while, but I'm back with another installment of custom card fare. This one is exciting because it's both a new class and a new expansion to go with it! I've mostly done one or the other, but I'm gonna try my hand at pulling off the Demon Hunter/Death Knight experience of releasing both simultaneously. I originally started this project right after Voyage to the Sunken City, but lost motivation until now; since then, we've seen locations, Undead, dual minion types, and the Death Knight class added to the game - that's a lot of extra stuff to consider! This is a Work In Progress and everything you see is of the first-draft variety, so feedback is certainly welcome :) Without further ado, let's begin!

New Class: Time Pirate

Time Pirates are interlopers who herald from the future, gallivanting across time and space in search of adventure...and of course, treasure. Collecting dissenters from all along the time-line, their crew is made up of a large variety of species; as such, while they naturally include Pirates, they are in fact a true Menagerie of various minion types cobbled together. They utilize their high-tech gadgets and knowledge of time itself to outwit their opponents, always ready to make their escape. But when things get dicey, there's nothing more dangerous than a Time Pirate backed into a corner with nothing to lose, so be ready for anything!

Gameplay Summary

Captain Aldrax's gameplay is a twist on expected Pirate play-patterns: these aren't your run-of-the-mill scallywags. I will admit I have spent more time on the expansion and existing classes than on the Time Pirate itself, but this is a general run-down of what might be in the class:

• Slower Pirate archetypes - This isn't just "play Pirates, play weapons, go face". I want this to be a slower, more tactical version of the Pirate. You can be aggressive, certainly, but that's not all that will be available.
• Menagerie synergies - Elementals, Dragons, the occasional Beast; bringing together disparate groups is what makes a Time Pirate crew!
• Pillage keyword - As you can see below, "Pillage" provides a bonus of some kind if you already damaged the enemy hero that turn. With cheap triggers like the Hero Power, you can weave in strong, tempo-reclaiming plays.
• Gadgets to get out of situations - Time Pirates have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves, gathered from across time.
• Secrets? - Probably falls under the "gadget" scenario listed above.
• A second ramp class? - Future-tech should be more efficient in its energy usage, after all. Yeah, I know, Druid is fairly problematic in this regard, but maybe we can compete for the space while not destroying the game in the process >_>

As this is very much a Work In Progress, you won't find a lot here right now; that said, I'll be working on it as long as my motivation takes me lol. Check back for more updates!

New Expansion: Captains of the Rift

As the Time Pirates make themselves known to the people of present-day Azeroth, they unwittingly open up a huge time rift from within the Maelstrom. That brings with it monsters, mayhem, and all sorts of trouble from across Azeroth's time-line. The Time Pirate being about, well, time shenanigans, this is a golden opportunity to explore various characters from Warcraft's past, present, and future, and possibly all three at the same time! Here's a quick summary of what to expect:

• Creatures, characters, and objects from across time - Reoccurring villains, variations of the same character in different classes; when you're making an expansion about time manipulation, expect the irregular. We don't know how Chromie can keep up!
• Tribal support across the board - No class will go without some form of support for a minion type, and some might even be lesser-utilized combinations, like Mech Shaman and Dragon Demon Hunter.
• Legacy weapons - "Legacy" is a new evergreen keyword given to weapons/items that have been passed down over time and cannot be truly destroyed. It is essentially Kingsbane's everlasting effect, and the Rogue weapon would be updated to reflect this.
• Storm spells - The Maelstrom is creating pocket-storms of various sizes and types, which can grow stronger with the presence of more Mana. This keyword is very similar to Manathirst, except you *must* spend the additional Mana to play the card if you currently have it.
• Gold Nuggets - Gold is a gimmie for a Pirate, and Time Pirates are no exception...but don't count out those hoarding Dragons, either!

Cards for Captains of the Rift

As I noted above for the Time Pirate, this is a Work In Progress. As such, most classes currently do not have full sets just yet. I'm working on it, and will update as I can. In the mean time, I will include write ups for how I plan to proceed with each class (which can always change, of course, based on feedback or my own particular whims).

And that's all I've got for now. Thank you for giving it a look, and a double thank-you if you decide to leave me a comment :D It doesn't seem like much, but the backbone of the expansion is there; just need to spend the time to make it come to life. This is my most ambitious project to date, or at least it certainly seems that way, so getting some "early access" feedback would be especially welcome :)

I love Lor probably more than most people.

So if I see someone googling a list to counter mine I don't get salty I feel over joyed.

For those that don't know last year mobalytics made the call that it could no longer responsible support statistics tracking for legends of runeterra.

It's all in the dev blog here but basically - the spread is too large to cover and the sample sizes are too small.

So deck diversity, plus unstable metas, plus games being played in the thousands vs the tens of thousands.

Why does this matter?

Well the statistical spread on decks actually massively shifts based on the smaller hosting websites we have available today.

Example go to mastering runeterra and you look at 3000 games of Jax played and it will be sub 50% so okay terrible deck.

But I go to runeterra ar and it says 2,000 Jax games played at 57% winrate basically saying it's an amazing deck this patch maybe because it outscales elites?

The truth is nobody knows the spreads are too wide, the sample sizes too small, and there are too many variables to know for sure.

Anyone saying otherwise is kind of stuck up their own butt.

So that brings us to this patch, we know that jayce is good, we know that elites are good.

Beyond that we have no idea, nobody is willing to play the lower tier lists enough to get reliable data, or brew counters for a concrete two deck meta that will last a month.

So maybe Mobalytics was right, stats for LOR are kinda garbage in 2023 and knowing that empowers you to play your own lists and search for your own solutions.

Brewing is a lot like sales or marketing.

It's learning about the power of losing.

Through loss you get better.

You brew better, your decks perform better.

You might even start ruffling a few feathers.

Not because they are good players but because they haven't embraced the power of losing.

Good brewers, people like Mogwai they wouldn't just upload a list after it popped into their head.

They would pressure cook that **** till they had something that was actually good.

So I guess my message to the LOR community right now is do better...not by playing the strongest hand but learning how to lose.

I've mentioned this before but there's a big difference between meming and being off meta.

Mogwai, Swim these guys understood that it's okay to play unique lists but only if they can beat what's popular.

So right now that's two things, one is jayce, and one is elites.

Pick one if you can't beat either your deck essentially shouldn't exist in its current form.

So how do you build good off meta brews?

Well two things play the matchup and see if you can climb, two if you find that intimidating then play the matchup with a friend.

As soon as you can start winning with your trash vs their treasure you have an off meta brew.

If you can't its a meme...sorry.

So we are getting 10 new variety cards coming soon to LOR and about a month to play around with them in our massive card pool.

Will it be removal, tribal support, archetype support, who knows but any of that would be awesome.

On the less exciting note they are finally gonna start "deleting" rotating cards in LOR in a month with the next expansion:

1. Good news is stable metas with top decks for those that like climbing

2. Bad news for the first time ever you will not have free acess to the complete card pool in LOR for deck crafting

Just to give a detailed account of what this means, Jayce for example exists in two of the top control decks in jayce Lux, and jayce heimer.

If he gets rotated that would free up room potentially for other control archetypes to exist.

Bad news is Lux is no longer playable in the meta.

So I know for me I'm in wait and see mode, new variety cards will be awesome, rotation might just break the game in a dozen ways we will see.

Today I found this forum and feel like I really need to talk about my two pasions

"Pasta" and "Milanesa Napolitana con Papas Fritas"

Pasta is really well known and I hthink some spaghettis with mushroom stew and cheese is just amazing.

On the other hand we have the Milanesa. It is something really popular where I used to live. You can find its recipe here

I feel this is just amazing and evven looks really tempting. You can also fry some eggs and put them on the milanesa or the french fries and just be amazed.

Probably this is not really healthy, but damn it is good.

Wanted to share an interesting build created by @ketronome using Tacter's guide building platform.

HOW TO PLAY

T1: Sunspot / Pass.
T2: Morbius OR Colleen Wing (discarding Swarm or Wolverine).
T3: Lady Sif (discarding Apocalypse) OR Nakia (ideally buffing Swarm, MODOK or Apocalypse. OR Morbius + Sunspot.
T4: Dracula OR Morbius + Colleen Wing.
T5: MODOK.
T6: America Chavez + all 0-cost Swarms, ensuring Dracula discards Apocalypse.

I've talked quite a bit on many platforms how the sudden mainstream success of both yetis and Leona surprised me quite a bit.

But the weirdness doesn't stop there:

Jayce Lux at 55% this ain't no isolated incident we are talking 500 games in the last 3 days consistent winrate with good old fashioned I'm a firing my Lazar!

Ziggs Thaliyah at 55% with 1500 games played. Oh boy and for you arsenal fans it is in fact running one copy. 

I will mention it again but I mentioned on reddit that Annie ezreal was one of the top new lists and it is once again holding down 55%

Nora cuz **** Nora and every single player that thought Nora decks where the meta and the future.

Sorry bit of a pet peave but sometimes you can't help but be right.

Overall even what 2, 3 weeks into this latest balance patch meta we are seeing huge moves on the tierlists, so I think calling this meta jello was the right call. It keeps on jiggling.

Depending on how some people are feeling on a giving day LOR "sucks" right now.

There's a lot of salt, a lot of hate, on reddit specifically.

People don't know what decks to play, and as soon as they find a list it's invalidated by another.

Oh man these midrange lists sure are strong, nevermind ryze is toxic combo is too good, how about them Swarm decks? Then we go back to midrange again and the circle continues.

Meanwhile the deck brewers are doing crazy **** and winning games.

We have a new competitive yeti list on mastering runeterra with Darius, we have daybreak at top of S tier on mobalytics.

The reality is that this meta is like jello, it keeps changing shape and nobody knows what's going to happen.

To me that's exciting.

It's dynamic, it's moving, it's constantly changing, a world where anything is possible.

But to the salt lords who have to keep their edge because it's their career or livelihood or their claim to fame this meta is cancer.

They say one deck is top tier, and next week it's not. They say Nora is everywhere then Nora drops 5%. They say FTR doesn't exist and then FTR hits 55%.

This truly is the card game of champions right now and I'm going to enjoy every drop of it till rotation hits.

Let the salt lords cry, and the hardcores get mad, I'm having a blast.

Title says it all. Well, in case you haven't heard of, a developer called Matt London wrote a post on Twitter, indicating that Blizzard is planning to bring the best experience for Wild format.

I wonder what's going to happen but unless they look into these issues below, I'm not holding my breath. These are my takes and I would like to hear your thoughts as well:

General

• The cost of cards shouldn't be reduced below 1 Mana, no matter what. Mana cheat went way overboard that a hard rule must be applied. That means cards like Emperor Thaurissan and Insight can reduce the cost down to 1 Mana, similar to how Arcane Luminary functions. This rule will keep Pillager Rogues and Secret Mages to not spam 0-Cost cards.
• If necessary, a card should have alternative/different variant for Wild format. For example, Contract Conjurer might be OK in Standard but not so much for Wild.
• A graveyard system must be implemented so Big Priests can't resurrect same minion over and over again. Right now, if Blood of G'huun dies once, you can play 2xResurrect cards right away. Here, I propose you can play Resurrect only once if G'Huun died once. This rule will also affect N'Zoth cards and similar ones, to a degree.

Druid

• Play Floop's Glorious Gloop to gain infinite mana, if utilized well. How about a hard cap, which you can gain up to 10 Mana Crystals, even if you have Guff Hero card played? Like, you have gained 9 Mana and spent them, then 2 minions killed but only one is granted to you, not two. It also shouldn't stack with cards such as Solar Eclipse.
• Wildheart Guff should have 15 Mana Crystals at max, not 20.

Mage

• Kirin Tor Mage cries in the corner because Kabal Lackey and Anonymous Informant are much better. These cards should reduce the cost of secret to 1 Mana, not zero. While at it, their cost should be upped by 1 Mana.
• Kabal Crystal Runner should reduce her cost by 1, not 2.
• Contract Conjurer should cost 1 less for each secret controlled. Maybe make him 7 Mana, perhaps?

Priest

• New graveyard system, please look above.
• Some resurrect cards Big Priests use should have mana cost raised by one. Candidates are; Resurrect+Eternal Servitude.
• Shadow Essence should summon 3/3 or 4/4 minion, not 5/5.
• Illuminate should cost 1 Mana and reduce the cost of spell by 2, not 3.
• Radiant Elemental limits design for future Priest cards, which has proven pretty much with Mind Sear. This card belongs to Ungoro expansion and it's Elemental. Thus, I propose the following change: "Your Elementals have +1 Health" which looks thematically fitting.

Rogue

• Maybe not a problem right now but either increase the condition for The Caverns Below or change its reward to set minions to 3/3 instead of 5/5.
• Swordfish should either have 2 durability or grant +1 Attack.
• Cutlass Courier has very good stats for his ability if compared with similar cards. Reducing his stats to 1/4 looks like a right balance choice.
• Scabbs Cutterbutter should be...
  • 5 Mana, rest is same.
  • 4 Mana, reduction is 2.
  • 3 Mana, reduction is 1.

Shaman

• Splitting Axe converted into a Deathrattle card rather than Battlecry one prevents the insta-snowball effect.
• Totemic Might and Totemic Surge should cost 1 Mana.
• Why are Thing from Below and Gigantotem same cards? To differentiate, I suggest Thing from Below reading "Cost 1 less for each Totem you control." 

That's all what I can think of. Let me hear your thoughts. With the insight shared from Blizzard, I really look forward to see Wild format grow even better.

• You must make a card out of the mobs, bosses, or locations from Naxxramas.
  • Whether that's taking something that's currently unrepresented in constructed Hearthstone or simply giving one of the bosses a better card for the modern-day environment, is entirely up to you.

BloodMefist wants us to return to Naxxramas (no, not the recent mini-set) to make some cards out of what we can find there. Get out here, Purator, this for things that were actually in Naxxramas.

I've been on out of cards for a long time.

I've built countless decks in my spare time many of whom I bring back time and time again each time getting more refined and playable.

But most people brew in LOR to fire and forget.

Oh I tried that it didn't work rage quit now time to counter brew what I just faced.

You see that's not going to work against someone who has miles on their engine because they just instantly go to their backlog of decks and pull out something else.

Instead the solution should be simple, build to last, build to succeed and build to get better at the game.

Dude it's a meme deck...like I dont even know what to say.

Am I that strong that my junk needs hard counter brews for me to be stopped?

Like if you're losing to mono freijord ramp with a splash of demacia don't feel bad.

Well maybe feel a little bad but you don't need to whip put meta tenticles to feel better about yourself.

I've been building decks for yeeeeears.

Of course my memes are almost as good as meta.

It comes with practice don't feel bad about it.

Like don't listen to streamers "here's the number 1 deck to climb to diamond with"

Dude the number of times I've climbed with complete dokey that I built myself...would be every time because I don't play meta lists.

So if I' diamond with garbage I'm basically omega masters.

I dont like aggro, I don't.

I play next to zero aggro generally speaking.

But Ionia otk is such a polarizing archetype that it only has one weakness.

It has a 30% matchup table into every single aggro list.

Pirates yep, bandle yep, fearsome yep, hallowed yep.

But there is one list that trumps them all.

Pink region otk (rhyze) has a 20% winrate into lurk.

So I don't care if I have to play lurk into all the smooth brains running otk by running an even smoother brain deck I will do it.

You'll lose roughly 80% of the time.

Sorry you're playing something degenerate you don't get to complain.
