Probably because they want them to be... how can I say it... above a certain standard? Not just gifs with voice lines but flavorful at the right point.
I heard that Druid's removals are going to rotate, but not the exact cards - did Alec say them? Because I think he didn't, but I might be wrong as I was typing really really fast lol
You won't own those cards forever, as they are temporary copies; moreover, we have no guarantee the Core set will have just essential cards - if Renounce Darkness will be included, will you consider it an essential card?
On a final note, what you say is not wrong, but you also have to consider that the game is 7 years old and many players (included myself) started just a few years ago: there's a big gap that can't be easily filled, but this Core set seems the most reasonable solution to me.
I unpacked Zentimo back in the day and I tinkered with it for quite some time, but you cannot say it's a trash Legendary - not saying it's Harbinger Celestia levels of despair, but in 3 years he has been a staple in a single competitive deck, and just for a week or two lol
However, if we're talking about meme potential, then it's definitely another matter - have you though about combining it with Stormstrike with Doomhammer equipped or Inara Stormcrash on board?
Ough, you definitely caught me off guard with Shadowform - although I knew it was going to be the only HoF returning card, for some reason my brain whiffed when writing the Neutrals section.
Yes - unfortunately, the source we got the list from showcased just 14 cards, which we didn't notice at the beginning, because we just copied the deck code.

Hello everyone! It's been a month since my last update, and I've won a couple more games. I've been grinding mainly xp achievements, but I also enjoyed ladder.
Rogue (+82) - I decided it was time to get [Hearthstone Card (Cap'n Valeera) Not Found], even though I don't like her that much. It's just that being this close to the 1k portrait for so long started bothering me. I exclusively jammed Standard Burgle Rogue and even got Legend with it.
Priest (+9) - There are a handful of decks I'd like to try, but I have so many wins with Anduin that I almost feel bad playing it over other classes.
Hunter (+14) - I played some Jewel of N'Zoth Hunter in order to get a couple achievements, including Darkmoon Tonk's and Bola Shot's (still halfway through on this one though) ones.
Mage (+56) - All the progress in Mage is due to Duels wins, where I even got a sweet 12-0! Looks like this is going to be my next 500 wins hero.
Paladin (+15) - Played some Menagerie Paladin (not the High Abbess Alura version, but a way more memey one) aaand... nothing else.
Shaman (+68) - Aggro Shaman is strong and fast: I wonder why no one plays it.
Warrior (+3) - Bleh.
Warlock (+54) - I unpacked Tickatus and felt like ruin other players' game experience
Druid (+13) - I'd like to play the class but I find Token Druid not very interesting...
Demon Hunter (+16) - same as the last time: lots of memes, but never a top tier list.
God I really hope that the new "big change" coming to the next rotation is that old sets will rotate into standard periodically. I'd love to play with, ungoro cards and dalaran cards at the same time (as an example).
I don't think we received any official statement on the matter (or at least I remember so: I definitely might be wrong), but it is very likely, yes.
Leaving this comment here so that if Lava Shock will ever be part of Core 2021, I'll have Demon outplayed.
Greetings.
When we wrote the article we had no info yet about the rebalancing of the Dream cards - we only knew that Dream would've costed 1 instead of 0.
However, later on we came to knowledge of changes to all the Dream cards (except for Emerald Drake), but at that point the article was already out.
I will personally edit it now so that it will include these changes.
Thanks! It was my first time but I think I did pretty well.
I'm gonna edit the post so that it will include the specific cards - thanks to both of you for pointing it out!

Btw, good to see you again in our forums!
Poor Link is going to have to endure a two rotations or Murloc Priest

This.
Plus you build your own deck, so you'll probably want to include a couple of cheap spells to mitigate that scenario.
Lion is sick. As long as we don't get Year of the Quillboar I'm fine though

I think I'm more excited about this new core set than the new expansion.
Not saying I'm not hyped about the latter, but rather that having a new Core set is something I've been asking for a while!
Thank you very much.

I'd LOVE to have Terrorscale Stalker in the Core set, and Lightforged Crusader would make sense since High Exarch Yrel will be the only Pure card remaining in Standard after the rotation.
Thanks: I appreciate it :)

However, any big legendary minion could do the trick - Turalyon, the Tenured, Soggoth the Slitherer or even the new Moonfang are good inclusions.

We actually discussed it before publishing the article but apparently we didn't edit it out. For once, I'm not the one to be blamed lol
Edit: there you go.

I think I'll take this deck for a spin - let's see how it goes :)
A whole bunch of this ^
