You shouldn't be forced to play a suboptimal deck for a 100 games to maybe get an achievement.

But I've been doing this for every expansion achievement 💔😓 There's only a handful of achievements like "Share Your Pain" or "Pop goes Divine Shield" that can be completed with meta decks.

  • After watching the Mercenaries stream, I was confused AF but also moderately hyped for the mode and just wanted more information (OoC being the first place I went for said information). My personal view was optimistic and enthusiastic for the new mode.... till I started reading comments and watching reaction videos...

Yes, the 30 minute stream was information overload and could have been done better as mentioned above, but that doesn't mean people should lambast the developers and the new mode from the get go when we don't have all the information. I felt so disheartened reading all the comments calling it "Hearthstone: Shadow Legends" or a "cash grab" when absolutely nobody (except the devs themselves) have seen much game play at all. Heck, the stream itself spent 15 min going through each of the points in the Mercenary Village than showing actual gameplay (which should have been a separate stream altogether). This is one of the cases where the phrase "Judging a Book by it's cover" applies 100%.

Complain all you want now, but it means absolutely nothing, coz we haven't played the mode yet. Once the mode releases and we've actually played it, THEN you can complain if you don't enjoy it or if it's rubbish.

  • Hear me out, this idea was suggested ages ago for Arena but I'd make a slight adjustment due to Blizzard's "greed".

A new "Keep Cards drafted" option could appear in Arena, where you can permanently keep the cards you draft in your arena deck. Blizzard may want to attach an extra 500 gold fee or something, but it could be an interesting way to get cards you don't own. It would be a great incentive coz of the rotating sets in Arena every few months and you could collect wild and standard cards. Ofc, that would incentivize you to pick only cards you don't own instead of making a decent deck, but you wouldn't really feel bad at the end of the run coz you'd have collected a bunch of new cards anyway. There'd have to be some UI changes ofc, like a glowing boarder around cards you don't own.

  • Well TBH I rarely play Battlegrounds and the chances of actually getting Deathwing offered to anyone is slim. But thanks for mentioning me 🙃(The Deathwing Thumbnail really caught my eye 😁)

And lets be real, a Battlegrounds update this big, is bound to have some bugs

  • To be quite frank, this promotion is 100% directed to HS players who've never played WoW, coz HS players don't know how bad WoW is

  • The quote from blizzard are not patch notes. The warlock nerfs would be added to patch notes when released along with the above battlegrounds changes and sometimes some bug fixes and improvements

  • More excited about the selected minions to be removed than the new cards themselves. So many useless and sub-par minions on that list, happy to see them go

Edit: looks like Mackerel is back on the menu boys!

  • There is indeed a variety of decks and archetypes in MT, but this stormwind meta is far from the best we've had in a long time. It's just so awful to play against warlock when you are not playing warlock. I much prefer the DMF meta with Tickatus, he looks so tame now

  • I quite like the clever touch using a water elemental to surf on for the winner, very creative

PS: Unfortunately, folks in the southern Hemisphere have to wait a couple more months for our summer! It's been a freezing winter ❄🌨

  • Nice, EU get a decent start time this time compared to Masters Tour Dalaran

  • You shouldn't judge Mercenaries based on the performance of Duels. Team 5 have put over a year's worth of work into Mercenaries and the last major game mode that required a lot of work was Battlegrounds which received good reviews. I'd imagine Duels was an after thought that probably took a week to make (Coz it's already based off of Dungeon run), just to keep players happy while they worked on Mercenaries.

But ofc, we still have no idea how the game mode will turn out. So lets just remain optimistic till we see video footage on the 31st 🙃

  • Actually, I predict the UiS mini-set will launch on the 7th of Oct, reason being is every mini-set launch (so far) is on a Thursday and 65 days after the expansion release. (Work out DMF and FitB if you don't believe me). This would also make sense as Blizzard has learnt from past mistakes when releasing standard content and a new gamemode together (Dungeon run being the example). So Blizzard would space out their content releases like they've done with Battlegrounds and Duels.

  • Completely forgot about this game mode 🤣

Least there's something to look forward to and take our minds away from the abysmal state of Standard

  • Thanks for letting me know. Every deck has a downside...except quest decks

  • An idea I was thinking about to "balance" all quests would be to simply increase the cost of all Mercenary Minions to 7 mana. Ofc this wouldn't impact DH that much as they only care about the cost reduction from the first 2 rewards, but for every other class, it could be a good change.

  • I really like the look of this aggro druid. Was never a fan of the spell token druid but this one looks interesting to play. Guess I need to open more packs or just straight up craft the Oracle of Elunes

  • I would throw my life's savings at a Diamond version of Deathwing, Mad Aspect. Don't judge me

  • It's an interesting idea to incentivize players to play more HS during a limited-time event, but the implementation needs to be thought out properly. For eg: every player should start off with a random class that has this bonus, not everyone getting the same class with said bonus as I wouldn't want to play MirrorStone. There are ofc negative side effects for F2P players who only play with 3-4 classes and dust the rest of their collection, but I feel those types of players are already impacted by this in other modes like Duels and Arena.

I vaguely remember the director of HS (Ben) said limited-time events were planned when the rewards track was initially released. These were removed when they did the track revamp during DMF. Maybe the limited-time event Dean is talking about is similar to what was originally planned before all the hate towards the original rewards track.

  • This Tavern Brawl is more balanced than the current Standard and Wild metas and I love it!

  • Lol that Wild Rogue list is clearly fake, Sprint hasn't been used since HS launched 🤣
