Yeah, I was pretty excited when I first saw that. I also thought it was pretty cool when Meryl made it into the game as part of the new rogue book of heroes. He's not a card yet, but at least a small part of his story is in the game now.
I love this! Wonderful Easter egg, and I see no problem with Vanessa having some connections to this Black Flame. There's nothing in lore to contradict it, she was missing in action for years before her character popped up again (aka her death retconned), so there's plenty of room to work in a connection here.
Yeah, I'm planning on updating this soon after we get any official releases, characters, or cards from Blizzcon. It's quite mailable for them atm, like you say.
In terms of the War of the Ancients books, I actually haven't ready them myself yet, but know the basic story from my research on the wikis. What I can tell you is that it's a time travel story across a trilogy of books where three modern WoW characters get sucked back in time and need to make sure that nothing happens to change history and cause the Burning Legion to win. I'm certain there are sections talking about the wild gods, although they would likely be referred to as the Ancient Guardians since I don't think the term "wild god" had been coined by the story writers back then. At any rate, they are a major forces in that war and you likely could learn more about them from that time period.
Thanks for the warning Avilon, lol. Looks like I have a major project ahead of me when they come out. I'm really happy to see them moving in this direction.
Haha, great choices! You just did part of my work for me ;) I'll see what I can dig up to get a good balance of hunters and legendary beasts, as you're right about them being so central to the class identity.
Yeah, the uncertainty of the Me'dan story in the comics is why I didn't bring up where he got the demon from. We know his relationship Kathra'natir is cannon because it's so central to the mage story in Legion, but I guess we're still waiting for confirmation on whether he ever possessed Valera or not. Perhaps her book of heroes could even determine that.
I mean, mage has gotten a lot more representation of major characters than a lot of other classes, so naturally the wishlist for them has to look at some of the slightly more minor ones. I'm honestly just happy I was able to get a diverse set of seven mages here without them all just being from Dalaran, haha.
Yeah, the Warcraft movie changed up a lot of stuff and isn't cannon in the main WoW universe, but you can think of it as cannon in an alternate Bronze Dragon timeline if you like. That's how I think of it, and I love the movie. It was what first got me into WoW and learning the lore in the first place, actually. I wanted to know what happened in the story after the movie ended, and the answer turned out to be "20 years worth of games worth of stuff", lol.
And yes, that's Anduin Lothar in the move. They just made him a lot younger than he's depicted in the art I have in the article.
Oh yeah, lol. I would have added him, but I already had so many orcs on the list that I didn't want to overload it with more. A lot of the greatest warriors are orcs because it's so central to their culture.
I'm inclined to agree, honestly. I can see that he's very strong and good with weapons, but that's about it. How ironic that the hero power is equipping armor, yet he openly bares his chest. Unnerfed Jaina has more body protection that this guy, lol.
I would assume. so. They've always used blizzcon to show off and anounce the third one of the year, so I don't see why they wouldn't do it to announce a whole new year with this perfect timing.
Thanks Link :) And yeah, most of this story is from that campaign. Rexxar's popped up on WoW a few times, not seldom as a main character who does much.
Oh goodie goodie. I love these things so much. Excited for when the Raven comes out, as I already have the first three. Like you say, it's great to be able to just flip through casual looks at the wonderful art in the game unclipped and not on a screen sometimes. There's lots of amazing behind the scenes design information in them as well.

I would consider that more of a reused art asset than indicating they are actually Perdition's Blades

Thanks, I'll correct it when it's time to edit and expand the guide after we get some info in a few hours :)

I honestly haven't decided. Perhaps hunter? I like to alternate with magic and non-magic ones if I can, but I'm going to run out of those soon, haha.

Lol, fair point, but it still clashes with the flavor of the hero power, you have to admit that.

Would be cool, but less likely since he's already a card. Not out of the question, though.

That's honestly a really fun idea, haha.

If that team has been the people working on the Book of Heroes, what has the solo adventure team been working on all this time?
