Couldn't have said it better myself.
Arena is mostly skill-based already as bad players have stopped playing. I have never understood why people are so afraid of losing gold in Arena. Even at 0 wins, you get a pack and 10-15 extra gold or dust back. Yes, that is a net loss, but hopefully, you learned something during your run such that you can do better next time. As soon as you average 2 wins (which implies you also win 4 occasionally) it's already a better investment than spending it directly on packs. And if you keep playing you'll notice you're getting better and better until you manage to get on the leaderboard one day.

I will try this deck as soon as the set launches. The main use of Glacier Racer is to go face just like Ice Lance, but if I can't find a Doomsayer to go along with Frost Nova it can also fit that role in a pinch.

I think Animated Broomstick is fine as is, but as apparently they are considering nerfing it, here is my suggestion: Rush. Adjacent minions have Rush. This would be most in line with the flavour of the card and I think Hearthstone could use some more cards where positioning matters. Alternatively, they can make it a 0/1 or remove Rush from the broom itself, which are both smaller nerfs than my suggestion and keep ETC Warrior alive.

I don't think you were lucky. Just using your hero power was sufficiant enough till halfway through the match. I can't call that difficult in all honesty.

The match against The Dark Portal: do you have Equality + Consecration by turn 8? Auto win. If not, go ahead and concede. Took me at least 10 tries. Really lame!
I read from reddit that its possible to get a 3rd party app to track the xp down. But I'm not yet desperate enough that I need a tracker so I can't tell you if this is real or working.
Can comfirm. The Firestone decktracker gives you a notification after every game in your bottom right corner telling you how much XP you gained along with their own achievements.

Reached legend for the first time with ETC warrior. If played correctly the winrate should be way higher than 52%. Thing is, one small mistake can cost you the game.
Apparently, there is a control deck in standard right now. ETC Warrior turns out to be a real powerhouse. Don't give up after failing miserably the first few tries. For me, this guide turned out to be really helpful.
Compared to the degeneracy of token druid, aggro demon hunter, libram paladin, or totem shaman what is this deck going to do? Nothing.
I thought exactly the same, but the opposite appears to be true. I'm not calling it an OTK deck for a reason. More often than not you're using your Bloodsworn Mercenarys to double up on Rattlegore or an Armorsmith. Sometimes it's the right play to toss in your other combo pieces too. Just to control the board. This deck actually preys on aggro decks when you get the hang of it. When they run out of gas, it's time for you to smack them in the face with Rattlegore, Galakrond's Might, and whatever is left of your combo.

Have you tried playing Wild? I think the kind of deck you're looking for can be found there. As far as I'm aware, most control decks are highlander decks, so if you like playing those, you should be good to go. Highlander Priest can't really be called control anymore as it can already pull off it's game winning combo by turn 9. Highlander Mage needs 1 or 2 more cards like Volcanic Potion to truly be able to compete against the most agressive decks like Token Druid, but has a fair chance against the faster midrange decks assuming you teched accordingly.
And then there is Renolock. It wasn't very populair before Darkmoon Faire, but it was good place actually. It has enough early board clears and taunts to counter aggro, enough value to go late game and enough flexible deck slots to tech against the flavor of week. This list below is one I enjoyed playing a lot before Darkmoon Faire arrived, but I wouldn't surprised is something similar can still compete. I had an around 50% percent winrate with it in legend.
And if you don't like playing Highlander, I guess there's always Big Priest you can try, or Dead Man's Hand Warrior, Odd Warrior, or Cubelock. At least more options than in Standard. That's for sure.
I can't imagine Whizbang the Wonderful not being one of the old cards.
Yes, that combo is taking over Wild very rapidly.

This explanation as to why Murgurgle Prime is a bad pull doesn't make much sense. Why would it be just a 6/3 with divine shield and nothing else?

Probably a bad idea, but crafted C'Thun, the Shattered and Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound for that Big Warrior deck. Niche cards like The Boomship are just too much fun not to play them.
I love the love for Whizbang the Wonderful. Please come back to standard.
5 Christmas gifts! That's really generous of you Flux, thanks!
Does this count as a spiky snowball?
