Tried out the Underbelly Ooze and works nice. Especially if your opponent is a mage and plays a buffed Arcane Missiles, suddenly you have a full board of Oozes. He resigned.

I propose kaladin can post anything he likes here if he tunes down his self hate to reasonable proportions.

If mage is going to be even more bonkers (even when Galaxy spell gets rotated...my all time favorite) then I will be very happy indeed.

I hope the Good classes also get a Galakrond or something else to compensate. Sure you can do reno decks all the time but that gets a bit boring after a while. The new reno hero card for mage is nice but not a major game changer (only 1 card and 10 mana cost) and not of the same level as say Zul'jin. What I do like is with so many cards in the pool you can try out all kinds of different decks and they can all work.

What I always find disappointing is that most of the time you queue up against some well-known net-deck and my tolerance for some of them is approaching zero, probably because it is so predictable and not because of expected winrate, I think the balance is pretty ok at the moment.

I also had it happen to me once maybe twice and I remember wondering "hey wasn't that card for locks only and why is it purple" only a lot later it occurred to me it must have been the discover.

Sure it is not funny to play against but burglar rogue has a lot more not so funny stuff I remember one time the rogue  discoverd all mage cards I would like to have had in my hand (like Reno and Antonidas) and they were even active so I got completely utterly destroyed by my own cards and some generated fireballs.

And I would like a way to see my own cardback more prominently when I play. Would love some interface option to that effect.

Maybe its time for a super-casual mode...or meme-only mode? Strictly non-meta mode? Meaning your deck may not match any popular meta-deck for more than 75% or something similar. Or: you may choose 20 cards from your collection, the other 10 will be added randomly. That should kill all meta-deck similarities! ha!

My 2 cents: its obvious that balancing standard is a lot easier than balancing standard and wild at the same time.

    1. If the main object of Wild is being able to play your good old rotated standard deck for as long as you like than balancing is completely out of the question since you can then never change the cards in wild, since balancing is changing something because there is no balance anymore.

    2. With a bigger number of cards in the pool and therefore exponentially more combinations to build decks, balancing wild is something your most advanced supercomputer will not be able to do for you, so the only way Blizzard can do something is by monitoring the community and hsreplay and reacting to that when things get "out of hand" too much, which is a completely informal and unprecise notion, and will therefore never please all players.

    3. I think things would be more "balanced" if you are forced to switch decks now and then, which would reduce your chances of being queued against the same OP deck too often, since that is probably what ppl are complaining about, they face certain decks too often (and lose) and then they feel bad. Do not ban the deck, just try to find a way to not queue against the same deck all the time. But in practice that is what almost all ppl do, they react to the meta and adjust. So no need for an in-game change to the same effect.

    4. All decks can be countered by another deck, just use an identical deck if all else fails, if you can't beat them, join them. So complaining about an OP deck is a little bit like eating your own tail. If you do not want to play serious, you can always try the innkeeper. He will not hit you with a secret mage deck for sure.

I am making my own fun by trying out meme stuff. Maybe will try to do some serious laddering by the end of the month but for now I am only goofing around on casual and as soon as I smell face hunter, control priest or token druid I am out.

Another card I tried to make work is Spitting Camel. So we have some (neutral) cards that get better when damaged, notoriously the Angry Chicken one but also some other neutral ones, for instance Spellzerker = good for mage. So i tried to build a deck around this, for instance using Banana Buffoon and Arena Fanatic to boost them, then use the Spitting Camel or ping to damage them. Its nice for a change, not recommended for serious climbing though. But somehow its very satisfying to see your camel injuring you own minion (for free!) and then reap the rewards. Feels a bit like a warrior (but I am playing as mage of course).

And any game you win using Angry Chicken is a life changing experience.

The 2-4 is also a solid 2-drop if you have no other minions in play yet.

Another interesting use: Its turn 4, you have the camel on board, opponent freaks out and plays a heavy taunt. O my god you think, what to do now. Then you top-deck your Voodoo Doll and first you think one mana short but then you realize...camel! Instant bliss.

And as I write this up another card comes to mind which I did not even consider before: the Underbelly Ooze. Will try that one as well soon.

To top it off: all this damaging your own minions also has synergy with Conjurer's Calling  since that works best value-wise on minions that are damaged anyway.

I experimented with another fun card yesterday.  It is Alarm-o-Bot. So i created a deck with lots of mage removal spells. some high impactful minions like Kalecgos, Archmage Antonidas and Malygos. If all goes well, your bot can be played on turn 3, survives, and bam you have your big 10 mana dude AND a whole turn to make use of it. Or just cast a Conjurer's Calling on it, also does wonders.

Heavy fun indeed. Will be experimenting around this card some more until new expansion hits.

Turn 4 Mountain Giant is nothing. How about a turn 4 Colossus of the Moon.

Well this is old deck but lately I have been using a lot of this deck with mech / heropower synergy. So in my variation I include the Clockwork Automaton and Arcane Amplifier and some other mechs like Wargear snip and Zilliax. And also Galaxy spell and two faceless manipulators and arugal and khadgar and janalai. So basically I have then a lot of win conditions:

    1. Minions+Magnetize+Hero Power (tempo style) just magnetize big threats and finish off with big hero power. Control board with Spirit of the dragonhawk. This works if you get enough mechs early on and a dragonhawk.

    2. Late game: output a couple of Ragnarosses (and maybe copy them). With all the hero power buffs it is easy to get Janalai on-line.

    3. OTKs: two of them are awesome: using reduced to 1s hero power buff cards you can suddenly have lethal from hand.

    4. Other one is putting 4 rags on board in one turn using Khadgar+faceless your khadgar+janalai => 4xrags = 32 damage. If you can do this on an empty board its game over almost always.

The beauty of this is that there are almost no weaknesses. Since you have tempo, you have healing (with magnetized Zilliax and/or copy stuff), you have OTK (against control matchups like priest), and you have AOE with dragonhawk against token decks. I have beaten all decks out there with this one.

I am only bored with some decks I encounter; meanwhile I am trying out meme decks on casual. But I am really tired of: lackey-rogue-tempo-remove-everything-play-Edwin/Togwaggle/Galakrond-and-win; Rogue should have a cards in hand problem but with these lackeys and cheap discover cards they have more in hand all the time than any other class; face/heropower-quest hunter: just brainless get the game over as soon as possible because; Quest Priest: remove-everything-do-nothing-resurrect-infinite-until-boredom-kills-both. Sure all three can be teched for and I enjoy beating the hell out of them when I am lucky enough to draw my antidote but otherwise...yawn. So I also would like some new decks to play against but I guess every expansion has some irritating decks to cope with :) Overall I am pretty satisfied with the state of the meta and can have fun. Except when I queue into Rogue-Rogue-Rogue-Hunter-Priest-Rogue. Then not so much.

Mmm yes if there is no other place I guess this is where it must go, but for me all Runeterra things are completely greek.

Recently I had some fun with Khadgar and Conjurer's Calling when cast on a Khartut Defender. So turn 6 you play the Khartut, opponent does not want to trade into it but just adds minions to board and you explode the board with Khadgar + conjurer's. Since the deathrattle also produces 2 minions now, you suddenly have 7 minions on board and stat-wise some 30 mana equivalent for an investment of 7 mana. And a lot of healing which is also nice for a mage these days. Easier to pull of then the mountain giant since that one almost always gets removed.

Wasnt this supposed to be the hearthstone salt thread? And not the runeterra one?

I think they should print "Quest" on the Embiggen card so its obvious it starts in your opening hand. If my opponent plays Embiggen on turn 1 or 2 or 3 I just concede, you know what is coming and it is not going to be fun.
