I tried a similar deck yesterday with the basic combo but other heals like Zilliax and Sharkut and other removal like Hellfire and some single target removal, and the taunts that heal you when drawn. it is a fun deck for sure. Out-controlled a freeze mage...and I am sure this deck can still be optimized. My results (I also only played on casual) were fine as well. And you can probably get even more Galakronds using copy cards to copy your Expired Merchant before it gets killed, or copy your Soulwarden for that matter.

My warlock is now at 58 half way to 59, it was at 57. So 1.5 level and another level 60 hero in my collection. I mostly play mage, but in the early days I played a lot of Hunter so Mage and Hunter are maxed out. Then when cubelock was a thing I played a lot of Warlock.

And I noticed a lot of "wow" emotes after they see your Expired Merchant targets the Galakrond.

Maybe you can add a finisher like Leeroy even, since often the turn after you play one of your galakronds you have massive damage on board, 5 dmg from your weapon, so either a buff or a Leeroy should be able to finish it off.

I think I will give it a spin as Warlock is the next in line for the level 60 upgrade.

Well then it's a lot of Galakrond and random demons for your buck.

Are the copied galakronds upgraded? I mean do they keep upgraded status when they are copied?

I always wonder what a collector will aim for once his collection is complete...throw all away and start collecting again? Is the fun part owning the collection or the collecting part? As with Hearthstone, your collection can only be complete until the next expansion hits, which is 3 times a year now. So I guess it must be the collecting itself that gives you the kick. But this is more or less what we all do in HS, we collect cards by opening packs and crafting cards we need in a deck.

I must be missing something...to find out how much it costs to craft? Just import deck code and you see missing cards and you can calculate? How much time does that take? less than a minute?

It is not stupid. Deck of Wonders was/is a very good card. The majority of spells you get are good for you, say 80% or something, they are free and can be amazing. Occasionely you get a bad one. On average, this will be a very good HP. I love it and I do not understand all the people who are complaining and saying it makes the card "unplayable". It's not only unpredictable for you but more for you opponent. He is facing a possible free Flamestrike every turn. Consider that. The quest result is much worse since you are not getting the mana reduced of your random spell.

Sure you are not having a reliable 1-dmg ping anymore. But this HP is not so effective late game anyway.

Finally we have a solid answer to the "Christmas Tree and presents" result of Hunter's Zul'jin, will at least remove all the summoned minions.

But I am still hoping we will one day get a hero power where you can create your own spell, just like hunter could create his own beast with Rexxar.

Or how about HP: "Put a random dragon in your hand. It costs 2 less."

The less I see this card played the better. As a mage mountain giant conjurer's calling junkie I don't mind the occasional mana cheat but this had me crying in the corner over mountain giants, galaxy spell and what not. If I draw the nuts I can still play a giant on 3 and conjure it on 4, but that needs 3 specific cards to work and not just one.

I always like it when I get Emeriss and another Dragonqueen Alexstrasza. Feels kinda good most of the time. This nerf means that chances on Emeriss are now a bit higher :) nice.

Well...depends how its worded on the card...I guess most recent card played is in control? So when you play the 2nd one, it reads "Opponent takes two turns. Then you take two turns." So that is what is happening. This overrules other turn stuff currently happening I guess. You could have better played your next Tempourus as part of your second turn and not your first.

And according to the latest meta report, mage is at the bottom with Paladin. The bad guys are winning!

Eh...druids also have those annoying rush minions, bees, the cheap spell that can draw a card...and zephrys into a clear.  And decent taunts, armor and heal spells. So I think druid is at least as survivable as mage.

I think the occasional mill is a fun way to frustrate the opponent but a consistent OTK deck based on that would be a little annoying. But lots of decks are annoying, say aggro, face huntard or OTK paladin? Basically any deck that more or less can ignore you and kill you is annoying.

But the way card games work is that sometimes you or your opponent can get lucky, draw that combo, highroll the nuts and suddenly its game over. When this happens now and then and is not predictable it is fine, but when it is consistent and you know it is coming (like with a OTK deck like paladin) then it can be very frustrating if you have no tech for it ready.

I experimented with lots of "fun" decks, for instance star aligners, hand-mage, dragon-reno, cyclone-chenvaala, mechathun otk to name a few.  But not to climb a ladder, just to play a fun game.

5 giants in that cyclone deck...and zero healing...how can it handle aggro?

The decks I fear most atm are Galakrond Warrior, Face Hunter and Res Priest. As mage you can't heal enough for the hunter, the warrior hero attacks are just too much face damage early on and when the big galakrond turns happen its just suddenly an OTK deck where you need a wall of taunts or your dead  and the res control priest is just utterly stupid/boring to play against: I play minion you remove it etc.  (but winnable given enough Polymorphs).

Playing mage these days is not a lot of fun.

Cyclone has been refuted by recent power creep.

Reno mage is solid value bet gets destroyed by aggro/deathrattle rogues. If you survive until turn 9 to unleash the zero mana dragons you are winning, but otherwise...not so much.

    Chenvaala is just one card.

Secret mage? Tempo mage? OTK/TTK mage? Exodia mage? Nope. Not.

Quest mage? Not really. Some sidequests are decent. Reno is a good card.

Secret mage? Looked promising but did not really deliver. At 3 mana they are slightly too expensive for an aggro deck.

So...maybe it is time for a new approach? Mech Mage? Murlocs? I tried dragons/reno and it can work.

    What do you guys think?
