Reign of the Black Empire Card Reveals - Day 8 [Finished]

We've mage you look at our article, and now we're going to make you look at some new cards. This go around, we have the masters of magic, the wonders of wizardry, the perfectionists of prestidigitation, some other form of alliterative phrase featuring a word for someone of exemplary talent and a synonym of magic.

Today, we're contrasting the fiery red of Warrior with the cool blue of the Mage class.

We have a whole guide on everything about the expansion right here, and every card in one place right here.

After you've waited two turns with Tome Translator in your hand, it will transform into one of these four cards at random:

Tome Translator's effect is apparently still active while it's unrevealed, meaning that even if you play it immediately, it will still activate its effect.

  • Discs of Norgannon - I honestly think its a shit card that will only see play because it allows you to mostly tutor jailhouse manastorm, which will usually win you the game. Outside of that, what is this card even doing other than waste a legendary slot? Fine, you get to choose whether you get a minion or spell in your deck, but not only do you first need to draw this spell in order to do that, it cost 2 mana to play for some reason.

Icebelt Magi - Its the kind of card that will make certain classes ragequit. Not something that absolutely requires discs to be played first in order to maximize value because most mage decks tend to be mostly spells anyway. Draw 2 cards and play 2 water eles. I mean, thats just insane inst it?

Thaw From Ice - An auto include card because you can absolutely make some of the most disgusting minions with this one, given that the pool is so small. Sometimes it whiffs but some other times you summon two 10 drops that isnt frozen or something insane everytime you play spell.

Cosmic Springs - Its this expansions warp gate. Really, thats about it. Not really amazing, but will bridge certain turns.

Coilbearer - A card that manages to make discs look even worse because this card is not merely playable, it also helps with the synergy like cosmic springs and icebelt magi.

Frontline Ironborn - Near worthless in competitive, sometimes you get it out of random effects and it snowballs you to victory. But in arena, this card can be incredibly toxic really quickly, especially since theres really not that many removal options available.

Mage has some decent cards but overall feels like its too gimmicky, like alot of things needs to happen for this class to build something that isnt overtly just burn mage plus. At least I can see why quest mage got nerfed because none of these new cards can outvalue that, and outside of maybe coilbearer, none of them will go in quest mage neither.
