Hearthstone Patch 37.0 Launches Tomorrow, Launching Journey Mode, New Tavern Rewards System, Diablo Crossover Announced

Hearthstone Patch 37.0 is launching tomorrow, and it's one of the largest pre-expansion patches we've seen in the game so far. We've got the status quo for things to be excited about the week before a set like the pre-release brawl and new Arena season, but with how massive the BlizzCon announcement was, there's so much to be excited about.

Journey mode will be live! Go complete Chapter 1 for a Reign of the Black Empire pack.

In this patch, we've got the following:

• Pre-release brawl running from October 13 to October 19.

• New Rewards Track, containing a new Diamond copy of Rajh.

• New Arena season - Your first 12-win run in the new season will unlock the Il'gynoth hero skin for Demon Hunter. Subsequent 12-win runs will reward you with two Golden Reign of the Black Empire packs.

• Brand new "Tavern Rewards" System. Shop and earn as you shop.

• Journey mode will be live. There's a total of seven chapters that will be releasing once a week. Each one awards a Reign of the Black Empire pack.

• Two new in-game events.

  • From October 20 to November 10 is the "Reign of the Black Empire" event, which will unlock a N'Zoth skin for Warlock.

  • From November 10 to December 1 is the "30 Years of Terror" event, featuring Diablo himself. Completing it unlocks the Dark Wanderer skin for Warlock and two copies of the new Treasure Fiend card that was leaked a while ago.

• From November 10 to December 8, a new bundle will be available featuring a new Diamond Diablo hero skin for Warrior, and two Signature copies of the aforementioned Treasure Fiend card.

• New Legendary Quest chain from October 23 to November 3, which can reward you with two Reign of the Black Empire packs, one of them being Golden.

• New Darkmoon Faire Treasure wheels.

  • From October 20 to December 1 is the Signature C'Thun wheel, allowing you to pick up a Signature copy of C'Thun, Eye of the Empire.

  • From October 23 to December 1 is the Y'Shaarj Mythic skin wheel, allowing you to pick up a new dual-class Mythic Y'Shaarj skin for Priest and Shaman. After you play 30 mana worth of minions, is transforms.

  • From November 3 to December 1 is the N'Zoth Pet wheel, allowing you to pick up a new N'Zoth pet.

• One of the coolest card backs that has ever graced the game. Unfortuantely, it's damn near impossible to get and will require you to sell an arm and a leg on such short notice.

• Lots of bug fixes.

Deck Recipe Updates

A new Deck Recipe is being added for each class featuring new cards from Reign of the Black Empire. The other two deck recipes are a ready-to-play deck using Core cards and a deck featuring cards from Escape from Violet Hold.

Introducing Tavern Rewards

Tavern Rewards are a new way to get even more from your visits to the Hearthstone Battle.net Shop.

Get Ready for Reign of the Black Empire with Pre-Release Tavern Brawl and Community Days

Pre-Release Tavern Brawl is back, now with an updated format. This is an event where you get to open your Reign of the Black Empire packs early, build a deck, and compete to earn rewards. The new rules are:

• Build decks using only cards from Reign of the Black Empire

• Everyone starts with free trial copies of all Reign of the Black Empire Common and Rare cards*

• Choose from predefined multi-class combinations before constructing your deck

  • Most options combine three classes, while one special two-class combination offers enhanced C'Thun synergies.

• Card Generation Pool: Reign of the Black Empire, Standard

* Access to the Reign of the Black Empire trial cards is temporary and limited to the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl, which starts October 13 at 10:00 a.m. PDT when Patch 37.0 goes live and ends on October 20 at 10:00 a.m. PDT when the expansion launches, after which they are removed.

How to Play in the Reign of the Black Empire Pre-Release Tavern Brawl

All players will get one entry into the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl for free. After that, each entry will cost 2 Tavern Tickets*, 300 Gold, or 400 Runestones. On each run, lock in a deck and play until you get either 6 wins or 3 losses and earn more new cards based on how well you do!

* You can obtain 2 additional Tavern Tickets during Community Days! More details in the next section.

Arena Updates

On October 13, with Patch 37.0, all ongoing Arena runs will end, and a new Arena season will begin. This season will use cards from the following sets:

• Reign of the Black Empire

• Across the Timeways

• TITANS

• Showdown in the Badlands

• Perils in Paradise

• Core Set

• Event Set

Cards from Reign of the Black Empire will be incorporated into the card pool on October 13, a week before the new expansion releases on October 20.

Arena Rewards

With the new season comes a fresh reward for achieving 12 wins in Underground: the Il'gynoth Hero Skin for Demon Hunter class. Starting on October 13, it will replace the previous reward Hero Skin. After unlocking it, any subsequent 12-win runs will earn you an alternate prize of 2 Golden Reign of the Black Empire packs.

When Reign of the Black Empire releases on October 20, all Arena and Underground pack rewards will update from Escape from Violet Hold to Reign of the Black Empire.

New Arena Feats

Five new Arena feats have been added for Reign of the Black Empire. For each achievement, Part 1 must first be completed to do Part 2.

Y'Shaarj Mythic Hero Skin

From October 23 – December 1, Darkmoon Faire Treasures plays host to Y'Shaarj, the Titan Bane, with a new transforming Mythic Hero Skin for Priest and Shaman. It's just one of many dazzling rewards available, and your first pull is free!

Embrace the corruption of Y'Shaarj and bring the horrors of the Black Empire to the Tavern. This Mythic Hero Skin reimagines one of Azeroth’s most fearsome Old Gods with elaborate visual effects, unique animations, and a truly monstrous presence.

As Y'Shaarj's influence grows, so does its appearance. After you've played 30 Mana worth of minions, Y'Shaarj transforms into a new Sha-infused form with updated visual effects, revealing an even more terrifying manifestation of the seven-headed horror.

N'Zoth Pet

From November 3 - December 1, welcome an ancient presence from the depths with N'Zoth, the Corruptor! This eerie Hearthstone Pet drifts alongside your matches, partially submerged and always watching with its glowing eyes. N'Zoth reacts to your gameplay in real time with expressive animations and shifting moods. You can interact with your pet by picking up its Murloc plushie or grabbing its fishing rod toy and playing a fishing mini-game to see what unusual things you can reel in.

Earn XP to level up N'Zoth and unlock new skins, including Fish N’Zoth, Brain Jelly N’Zoth, Deep Sea N’Zoth.

Each Pet earns XP differently, rewarding you for the actions they like. Here’s how to earn XP with N'Zoth:

• Damage the enemy hero

• Deal 10+ Damage

• Fill your board

• Play 3 minions in one turn

• Summon a Deathrattle minion

• A friendly minion dies on your turn
