Reign of the Black Empire Card Reveals - Final Day [Finished]

This is it, folks! The final reveal article for Reign of the Black Empire! And we're rounding things up with Hunter, who's a little too far back in the schedule to go face. Hope you've enjoyed the ride, and let us know what you think of the second return of the Old Gods to Hearthstone!

We have a whole guide on everything about the expansion right here, and every card in one place right here.

Reign of the Black Empire Reveals for September 25

"Tech cards" on Mimiron refers to situational effects, and it will attempt to offer options based on the board state. The reveal video showed Platebreaker, Demolition Renovator, and Stormpike Marshal as examples of cards it can generate.

They have confirmed that it CAN generate Wild cards if it's played in Standard, and that you will get "something" if it's played on a board with nothing to tech against.

  • I like the concept of Reload. But I'm struggling to remember the last time I saw a Hunter play an 8-mana card.

  • Kronn the Impaler - I mean, its definitely powerful but its in the wrong class. Hunter simply do not play the long game, mostly because they dont need to, but also because they have nearly zero sustain to get that far without dying themselves. So what will this card do? Left to either be discovered by other classes or pray one day you can actually live long enough to see this do something magical.

Mimiron - Theres just no point debating, its going into every hunter deck. Youd contrive a few mechs in there just to do it because this card is capable of countering quite a lot. In effect it gives hunter at least one option to remove something or rid armour. The latter of which is particularly a problem for this class.

Reload - Looks good but it'll never realistically be played outside of discovers. Its just not a good card for the class. But sometimes it'll help with reload.

Tank Regiment - Its definitely scary enough that you'll consider playing supply run because of it. Unlike kronn, this is the card that'll most likely be the interesting build-around

Unstable Prototype - Honestly, this card is good. The lack of attack but powerful deathrattle makes it a very sticky minion that your opponent would want to ignore as much as possible, and therefore allowing you a minion on board indefinitely. Probably paladin and hunter would be most interested.

Vaultkeeper - Better than fungalmancer but not better than pre-nerfed menagerie jug. The deathrattle is nice and all but you'll rarely if ever see it matter.

Mechacycle - No idea why it doesnt read rush instead. Perhaps at some point it did but proved too good so they turned it to a taunt. Shouldve changed the card art and name too while they were at it.

Hunter looks fine. Like pally, their cards rarely if ever suck because its kinda hard to screw up the basics. The main question is never if theyre gonna be good but if the class is gonna be played at all, but I can definitely see some shenanigans with nzoth going around hunter so theres at least one interesting deck ahead. Or perhaps theyre just gonna end up as mech-dragon midrange hunter and be exclusively played below diamond where most hunters and pally belong.
