Reign of the Black Empire Card Reveals - Day 10 [Finished]

Today we've gone for double the amount of digits in exchange for halving the amount of reveals. We have not only one class, but only one reveal scheduled today, and it's for the wild child (who's definitely older than everyone else) that is Druid.

We have a whole guide on everything about the expansion right here, and every card in one place right here.

Reign of the Black Empire Reveals for September 24

Tokens

Twisted Grimlynx will always spawn with the inverted stats of Curious Grimlynx when it's played.

  • Freya, Emerald Architect - Its not that its bad, but that its supporting something thats inherently not going to work. Already theres really not that many good beasts around, and druid has little to no comeback mechanic attached to it, which means you cant afford to build a poor deck around this card that'll make it all good.

Curious Grimlynx - Honestly, the only good thing here is that you're very likely to remove something on board. The huge negative is that the 2/5 taunt it leaves behind is quite shite, liable to be value traded by everything thats not a 1 drop. Probably would be buffed to a 3/5 at some point, because just look at it, whod want to play this in druid?

Foraging Slyvern - At least it has taunt, which is about the only kind thing this card has going for it. Theres no other way to describe this other than updated tastyfin.

Titan Sized - Decent card to tutor minions. Dont get too caught up over its secondary effect. At least its a card that might see play, though probably not in the deck team5 designed specifically for it to be in.

Primordial Bear - Theres no other card that perfectly illustrates how cautious team5 is being when designing this rendition of beast druid. Couldve easily been a 3/2 or a 3/3 and it still wouldve just been ok. As it is, again, its just weak. Dragon warrior has brood keeper, a minion that does the same shit, cost 1 less, and they can swing that 2 damage twice. I mean, seriously.

Seeker of Prey - Needed taunt to be good but it doesnt have it so its honestly shite.

So druids the class that got shafted this expansion because its just a mishmash of stuff thrown about hoping it will stick. What wouldve made beast druid work would be a card like humble judgment, or fuck it, even acornbearer wouldve done better than any of these stuff printed here. Instead, its just pure midrange beast druid with some attack synergy and presumably ysharaj at the end? Perhaps team5 should just looked at the current attack druid playing dragon slop and try guessing whats the biggest problem with druid playing midrange.

Alot of the druid cards gives out vibes of having half its soul torn and pasted into the mid expansion class package. Ammunae printed with zero deathrattle support, the beast cards floundering about, deathblossom being a one-off design. At least no ramp cards were printed I guess. Druid mains be crying somewhere.

Look at all of that Ammunae support.
