Hearthstone Journey Begins October 13, Unfolds Over Seven Weeks

The Hearthstone announcement at BlizzCon was one of the largest announcements in the game's history, announcing not only a new expansion, but Hearthstone's 12th class coming next year, the Black Market feature, and one of the biggest updates the game has ever seen...

Journey mode.

Brining one of the biggest doses of lore and new UI to the game ever, Journey mode starts on October 13 with the first chapter, titled The Road to Ny'alotha. Every Tuesday for the seven weeks starting on that day will see the release of a new chapter. You can win one Reign of the Black Empire pack for every chapter completed, meaning you can get up to seven free packs from just playing the Journey mode.

Journey is also expected to grow as a larger part of the game, with many new events now being interwoven into the game's narrative, which I would presume to mean that new Journeys will be coming. This is on top of the fact that we're also getting a 2v2 mode, Hearthstone Warchief, Boss Fight events, and much more.

What Is Journey? 

Journey is a brand-new way to experience Hearthstone. 

Found within the Hearthstone Journal, Journey brings together story, Journey Quests, rewards, events, and seasonal experiences into a single campaign that unfolds throughout an expansion. 

As you progress, you'll encounter major characters, unlock new content tied directly to the season, and experience Hearthstone's story in a deeper and more immersive way than ever before. From voiced vignettes featuring key characters to text-driven narrative moments, Journey tells its story through a variety of interactive experiences. 

Chapter 1: The Road to Ny'alotha 

Your Journey begins on October 13 with Chapter 1: The Road to Ny'alotha. 

This seven-part chapter unfolds over seven weeks. Each week, a new part unlocks with story content and Journey Quests to complete. Previously unlocked parts remain available until Patch 38.0, so you can complete them at your own pace. 

Complete each part to earn: 

• 7x Reign of the Black Empire Packs (1 pack per completed part) 

As the chapter progresses, you'll uncover more about the Old Gods ruling over ancient Azeroth. 

Events Become Part of Your Journey 

Many familiar Hearthstone events now play a larger role in Journey. 

Rather than existing as separate experiences, events are now woven directly into the seasonal narrative. They offer deeper immersion and new insights into the world explored throughout the season. New events run over the course of the expansion, each featuring its own objectives and rewards while diving deeper into the lore through the bookmarked pages. 

Event bookmarks let you preview event details from the Journal. When you're ready to jump in, select "Go To" on the bookmarked page to open the event hub. 

Beginning with the launch of Reign of the Black Empire, you'll encounter a variety of seasonal experiences integrated into Journey, with more content planned throughout the expansion. 

The Journey Is Just Beginning 

Journey is a living experience that grows over time. 

In addition to new story chapters and events, future updates will introduce new ways to play, including: 

• The return of the Black Market with new rewards 

• New Tavern Brawls, including 2v2 and Hearthstone Warchief 

• Additional story chapters, quests, rewards, and activities 

• And coming with our next expansion: all-new Boss Fight events 

Many of these experiences are featured on our six-month roadmap, with even more surprises planned along the way.
