2022 is almost over and with that comes the time to start fresh.
I know a lot of folks have been interested in some of the merch that Blizzard has sent out to "influencers" over the years and as someone who was on one of those lists for a while, I've obtained quite a bit of swag. Honestly, I don't have the space to make use of it all and almost all of it immediately gets locked away into storage, never to see the light of day again.
Because of this, I've decided to part way with several of the unique Hearthstone goodies in the collection, all while doing some fundraising for future projects on Out of Cards.
What Influencer Swag?
Blizzard sends out promotional swag during new Hearthstone expansion launches. I've been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of many of these, including one for the launch of Mercenaries. Here are the drops I posted about on Out of Cards:
- Scholomance Academy
- Forged in the Barrens
- United in Stormwind
- Mercenaries
- Fractured in Alterac Valley
- Voyage to the Sunken City
It was never a requirement to share any of these photos, but it was an opportunity to use the items as a creative outlet in some cases and I genuinely just believe they are cool items. These items never become available to the general public, so there are very few of them in existence. I couldn't tell you any specifics about the run of them, however, there are only 250 Hydralodon art pieces in existence, so that's gives us a better idea of how many kits may have gone out worldwide for Voyage to the Sunken City (assuming Blizzard employees don't get some too).

Mine is a bit generic, but also genuine, all the reveal seasons in general : the hype preceding the launches of new cards, the miscalculations and misjudgments of their relatives impact, the expectations of new metas shaping up and various archetypes getting supports; with an honorable mention for the introduction of DK as a playable class - those were my favorite moments of 2022!
Honestly, my favorite Hearthstone moment this year wasn't even connected to me: I just really enjoyed watching Regis' stream during the Death Knight Showmatch. Seeing him kick butt with a BFF deck was somethin' else, pulling wins from nowhere and carrying Team Frost to victory. Regis had next-to-no expectations about doing well, but he ended up being MVP of the whole tournament.
All-in-all it was fun to watch, and it was...ahem...cool to see him do so great. He's kind of become my favorite streamer over the course of the year, so that was a nice way to cap 2022 off :)
