MARVEL SNAP's Hot Location this weekend is Sokovia!

Sokovia is a dream location for decks that want to discard a lot; running a carrion-feeder like Morbius or just cards that want to be discarded, like Wolverine and Swarm. If you're running cards that resummon from the discard pile, like Hela and Ghost Rider, you can turn the discard into a tempo advantage (just so long as it, you know, doesn't discard Hela or Ghost Rider).

However you choose to plan for the Hot Location, you'd better get used to it; being a Hot Location means that Sokovia will have a 60% chance to appear for 24 hours, from 7 PM PT Saturday night to 7 PM PT Sunday night (2 AM UTC Sunday to 2 AM UTC Monday).

Hot Decks for Sokovia

If you're looking for ideas of what decks you can play to the Hot Location, we've got you covered: with recommended decks for players just starting out in Series 1, players still moving up through Series 2, and players who are starting to fill their collections with cards from Series 3, 4, and 5.

Series 1 Discard Zoo

There aren't a lot of discard synergies to work with in Series 1, but there are a couple of juicy options for taking advantage of the featured location, namely Wolverine and Strong Guy. To that end, we've put together a Zoo deck that can use whatever cards remain to it to buff up its army of 1-Drops, then take advantage of the extra discard from Sokovia to get a 10 Power 4-Drop into play.

Series 2 Discard

Once you're in Series 2, you can start to cook a little with Discard shenanigans, with Morbius feeding from the corpse of a Swarm being discarded (and maybe discarded some more). Apocalypse makes his first appearance in this article.

Series 3 Hela MODOK

This deck from Second Dinner's Tian Ding runs everything you could want to discard, except for Hela, who you want to stay safely in hand so you can use her to summon all those big bodies that have been cast away by MODOK (someone should really tell him what a jerk he is, maybe it'll make him feel bad) and Sokovia.

Series 3 Big Hela

If you want to get bigger (and don't want to rely on a turn 5 MODOK), try this Hela deck that runs plenty of large bodies to bring back with Hela and Ghost Rider.

Series 3 Collector Discard

For our final deck, we've gone with something that gets a little wacky with RNG thanks to the Helicarrier. We're also going big on Ongoing effects with Morbius, Wong, and Mystique to get really big Power swings from a MODOK absolutely shredding what's left of our hand.

What are Hot Locations in MARVEL SNAP?

There are two different types of location events in MARVEL SNAP.

  • Sunday's Hot Location that have a 60% chance to appear for the next 24 hours.
  • Wednesday's Featured Location that have a 40% chance to appear for the next 48 hours.

Unlike the Featured Location (which is always a new Location), Sunday's Hot Location will pull from the pool of existing Locations. Its increased appearance rate will shake up the meta for a day - for example, Odin was the finisher of choice for many players when Kamar-Taj was the Hot Location.

Have your own strategy for capitalizing on the Sokovia Hot Location? Make your deck using our MARVEL SNAP deckbuilder, then share it in the comments!
