The Blizzard Legends and Lore bundle is live on Humble Bundle and it is an incredible pickup for anyone that wants to dive into the lore of a few of Blizzard titles. Some of our longer-term readers may recall a Warcraft book bundle available over two years ago, in which we featured a recommended reading order. We'll bring that up in a moment!

With books from Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo franchises, you've got a well-rounded set of knowledge to explore, so let's see what you get! We're going to assume that you're picking up the full 22 book bundle. There are also 8 and 3 book bundles available as well for lower prices. Due to the shifting nature of prices, we won't have the exact price available here but for around $20 as of posting, you get all 22 books.

Warcraft Books

Unfortunately for fans of the Warcraft series who just want to read a thick wall of text, there are only a couple of options here. There are several graphic novels in the set though which make for some great visuals to accompany character-driven stories.

  • Beyond the Dark Portal
  • Night of the Dragon
  • Shadow Wing: Volume 1: The Dragons of Outland (Graphic Novel)
  • Shadow Wing: Volume 2: Nexus Point (Graphic Novel)
  • Mage (Graphic Novel)
  • Pearl of Pandaria (Graphic Novel)

As far as a reading order is concerned, Beyond the Dark Portal is a book that should be read earlier, taking place during the Warcraft II campaign and after the, not included, Tides of Darkness book. Night of the Dragon provides insights into the events which lead up to World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and brings up storylines from the Shadow Wing graphic novels, so consider reading though first.

Diablo Books

We're getting close to the launch of Diablo 4 so what a great time to brush up on some of that lore!

  • The Order
    • This was the book that came out for the Diablo III release.
  • The Sin War - Book One: Birthright
  • The Sin War - Book Two: Scales of the Serpent
  • The Sin War - Book Three: The Veiled Prophet
  • The Kingdom of Shadow
  • Legacy of Blood
  • The Black Road

StarCraft Books

With no new StarCraft games in sight, though many from the old StarCraft team moved on to work on Stormgate at Frost Giant Studios, these are a good trip down memory lane.

  • StarCraft: Shadow of the Xel'Naga
  • StarCraft: The Dark Templar Saga Book One: Firstborn
  • StarCraft: The Dark Templar Saga Book Two: Shadow Hunters
  • StarCraft: The Dark Templar Saga Book Three: Twilight
  • StarCraft II: The Devil's Due
  • StarCraft: Ghost - Spectres
  • StarCraft: Ghost Academy Vol. 1 (Graphic Novel)
  • Starcraft: Ghost Academy Vol. 2 (Graphic Novel)
  • StarCraft: Ghost Academy Vol. 3 (Graphic Novel)

All of the books have previews on the Humble Bundle site - simply click on any of them to read a PDF.

Is this bundle worth it? With it having a large variety of content, there's certainly something in there for everyone but each item might not be to everyone's tastes. The cheaper bundles, with 8 and 3 books, a subset of the 22 in the entire bundle, focus on graphic novels so if you're looking for that kind of content, they might be worth picking up. You certainly can't beat the bundle price though if you're interested in at least a few of the items!
