We've got a new featured location in MARVEL SNAP and it's The Sandbar!

The Sandbar is a completely new location being added to MARVEL SNAP as part of the April Season: Animals Assemble. Cards with abilities can't be played there.

The Sandbar is a tricky place to get into - only the most unassuming cards can get past the bouncer. The first idea that comes to mind is playing a Patriot deck, which is already packed full of cards that lack Abilities, but that's not the only card that works well with the Sandbar. The Hood is also an option, giving you a 6 Power Demon with no abilities to play to the Sandbar, and Sauron, although a Series 4 card, can remove the abilities of big cards with an Ongoing drawback.

However you choose to plan for the featured location, you'd better get used to it; being a featured location means that The Sandbar will have a 50% chance to appear for 24 hours, from 8 PM PT Tuesday night to 8 PM PT Wednesday night (2 AM UTC Wednesday to 2 AM UTC Thursday).

What Are Featured Locations in MARVEL SNAP?

There are two different types of location events in MARVEL SNAP, both of which have a 50% chance of appearing for the next 24 hours.

  • Sunday's Hot Location that always pulls from existing locations.
  • Wednesday's Featured Location that usually shows off new locations, but will pull from the pool of existing locations from time to time.

This helps pave way for new deckbuilding strategies as you may want to be playing something else should the bonus better benefit cards you aren't playing with. We've seen this previously with the featured location, Monster Island, whose boosted appearances meant many players ran Shang-Chi to destroy the 9 Power Monster.

Hot Decks for The Sandbar

If you're looking for ideas of what decks you can play to the Featured Location, we've got you covered: with recommended decks for players just starting out in Series 1, players still moving up through Series 2, and players who are starting to fill their collections with cards from Series 3, 4, and 5.

Series 1 Hulk Zoo

Our budget recommendation for players just starting out is a Zoo deck that can dominate two of the locations in the game with its low curve and persistent buffs, then win the Sandbar with Hulk.

Series 2 Jubilee

This "big stuff" deck is all-in on cheating big things into play with Jubilee, but has a couple of tricks up its sleeve when attempting to get into the featured location: Hulk, who can be played there, and Vision, who can move there. White Tiger is also a source of potential bodies in the Sandbar.

Series 3 Patriot

Patriot decks are the obvious go-to for a location that benefits cards without abilities; the list we're showing off has plenty of large bodies like Thing and Abomination who can be played to the Sandbar, then buffed by Patriot.

Series 3 Destroy

This one is a little strange, but bear with us. First off, the main candidates for being played to the Sandbar aren't technically in the deck: you have to gain them either from the On Reveal of The Hood or by playing Bucky Barnes, cracking him open like an overripe watermelon, then using Beast to bounce the Winter Soldier back to hand. Moon Girl can double up some of those Ability-less tokens, or gain an extra copy of traditional finishers Death and She-Hulk.

Series 4 Sauron

Sauron provides another way to make your own Ability-less cards, by wiping out the downsides of big bodies like Ebony Maw and Typhoid Mary and making them eligible for entry into the exclusive club. Barring that, we can have Arnim Zola crash the party with one of our several large targets.
