Very simple prompt.

1. One person proposes a combination of two classes and the next person must create a dual card for those classes.
2. The person who makes a card has to propose two new classes.
3. You can also enforce a a card type to the mix (minions, spells...) although it's not mandatory.

Just a fun little forum post where we can chat about those useless Achievement points everyone has in their journal these days. 

I'm currently sitting on 22035 achievement points, which I'd assume is around the average as all my achievement sections are sitting around 50 - 60% completion.

Lets see who has the highest number and the bragging rights on OoC! 

Welcome to the Raid Leader Format! In Raid Leader, you will have unique deck building challenges to face, along with new strategies in regards to in how you use your Hero Power, and with what cards you will have access to. Think of it as the Commander Format from MTG.

This Format is a sub-format of Standard.

Let's look at the Hero Tray (that's what I'm calling it) so it'll be easier for you to follow along.

In Raid Leader, you only have access to ONE Legendary card and it's Minion who will take the role of being the Raid Leader. After that you will construct a deck with no other Legendary cards. Firemancer Flurgl is a Shaman card, so he will have access to the Standard set of Shaman and Neutral cards when deckbuilding. As you may have noticed Flurgl, along with every other Raid Leader, has 50 health. What you don't see is that Flurgl, as well as every other Raid Leader, starts with 50 cards in the deck. I'll address the Hero Power timer below.

Some of you may have noticed that Flurgl's Hero Power is his passive effect on his card, this is where the uniqueness of Raid Leader comes into play. The Raid Leader's Hero Power will be some slight variation of there base card. Flurgl has to wait at least two turn before he can use his Hero Power, when he does use it, it goes on cooldown for two turns before he can use it again. Each Hero Power Timer is different based on the the Raid Leader, the time to wait is correlated with the base card's cost. Flurgl costs 2 mana, therefore he has to wait two turns before he can use his Hero Power. The Hero Power doesn't cost any mana, which I'm still on the fence as to whether or not that's a good call, I will definitely need OoC's feedback on this one. Earlier when I said there'll be new strategies in regards to your Hero Power, this is what I meant.

Some of you may have noticed that some of the Hero Powers are Passive, again that only becomes active once the timer runs out. What's different for the Passives is that once, they're active, they're always active. A special exception has to be made for Prince Renathal.

Now to address the elephant in the room, the neutrals. The neutral Raid Leaders have special access to all the cards in the (Standard) game, BUT they can only have ONE card per class in their deck. so their decks will consist of 10 class cards (one from each class) and 40 Neutral cards.

I acknowledge that some of these may be over powered or useless, but hey it's a custom concept.

Now will Team 5 ever put something like this into the game? Nope, because they can't sell a Battle Pass with it.

Here are a few interactions (per the title) I wanted to share and see what people think. Or you can add any similar interactions you've noticed.

I played Thrive in the Shadows with an opposing Far Watch Post on the board, and the card I discovered went up in mana. This seems wrong to me, as nowhere on the card does it say that I am "drawing" this card. Intended or bugged?

When a mage swaps spell costs with Barbaric Sorceress then plays a 1-cost Rune of the Archmage, the Grey Sage Parrot should not be able to recast that spell (my opinion). That spell originally cost 9, but when they played it, they only spent 1. Feels a little cheaty.

This last one is from Mercenaries, so feel free to skip (I know not nearly as many people play Mercs). I had Mr. Smite on board with Overboard activated. My opponent's Tidemistress Athissa cast Riptide on my Edwin. What ensued was a literally endless series of attacks, as every time Smite attacked, Athissa hit Edwin (who went WAY into negative health), causing Smite to strike again. He ended up clearing the entire enemy board, even killing Queen Azshara through her resurrection. Kinda feels like that shouldn't have happened.

So this is the third I am going to start this game a fresh, right from the beginning, as a F2P (too long of a story).

My first time to climb fast as a F2P, was with Zoolock and concede Shaman (long long time ago).

My second time was with beast hunter and Reno Priest (long time ago).

What is the best cheep F2P deck out there this time?

So, in general HS takes most headlines in this website, but what is the ACTUAL most popular game among this website users? 

Welcome to Medivh's Tower Format! Tower is a format in which there is no RNG other than when a player draws from their deck. This means no Discover, Copy, Random, or other words that can do something non-specific. Below is the ban list (which I'm not going to update regularly once this is posted) for players to build their decks around.

This Format is a sub-format of Standard AND Wild.

The goal of the Format is to cut down on "Paveling Book" scenarios and to rely purely on skill and deckbuilding, and in order to do that certain Key Words, Words,  and cards must be banned.

Banned Words & Key words:

Discover
Adapt
Random or "At the end/beginning of turn do X to another enemy/friendly character".
Copy
Numbers that aren't exact, i.e. "1-4" "3-6" as opposed to just "2".
50% Chance

Mage losing Khadgar, Conjurer's Calling, and Power of Creation ruins any dreams of summoning big minions out of nowhere. The combo itself is the reason why I came up with this Format………… three years ago. Control Priest losing Convincing Infiltrator is another big hit to the deck.

For as long as it takes. Live, and fight your sorrow. We'll be here when you're ready to return; take all the time you need.

As for your project, I don't think I'm in a position to take it from you. I'm not making much progress on my own endeavors, including some IRL stuff: I don't want to get into the details, but I'm on the cusp of a pretty important life-changing decision and that needs my attention. I would be honored to work on it for you, but I can't give the expansion its due diligence right now :(

The flavor of the expansion is pretty cool, though, I must say. "Radioactive" could be a fun Keyword to experiment with.

So I was playing against a Mage and they were playing Suspicious Alchemist + Smothering Starfish. Interestingly, I did not get the choice of picking a card, although Suspicious Alchemist's effect is supposedly a battlecry entirely.

Do you have any idea why Starfish should nullify the effect of Alchemist? Is it some kind of aura? Usually Battlecries should not be silenced when they affect cards or game interactions that are not board-based...

I just lost a game versus a priest, where I had stolen Xyrella, the Devout via Theotar, the Mad Duke. I had played Abyssal Wave earlier, and played Lady Darkvein which I triggered with a Defile, killing everything on the board, including the Shadow Manifestation.

Later, when my opponent had a big board, I played Xyrella and it only triggered the Shadowborn deathrattle, and left out the 2 Shadow Manifestation which should have cast 2 x Abyssal Wave and cleared the board and probably have won me the game, since it would have been my 7th and 8th curse that game.

Is it me reading that hero card wrong? It says every friendly minion this game, but perhaps the manifestations are counted as part of Lady Darkvein?

Let me start by saying I enjoy combos: it's super fun to assemble your pieces, fend off the enemy, then administer the coup de grace. I also think that combo disruption is important for the game.

I think Mutanus the Devourer is a perfect and well-balanced combo disruptor: he can only hit minions (he can do nothing about a Purified Shard already in hand, a game-winning Bloodlust, or any hero card you care to mention), he is expensive, and he chooses a random target. Using Mutanus to stop an enemy combo requires a lot of luck, a lot of mana, and some decent hand-reading. And perhaps best of all, he was part of a mini-set, making him easier to collect than most other legendaries.

I hate Theotar, the Mad Duke. He is inexpensive, allows you to choose a target, can steal ANY card (not just minions), and worst of all, he allows your enemy to use your win condition against you. 

I'll include my super salty story below here as a spoiler for anyone who cares to read it. Otherwise, feel free to respond to the opinions above. Agree? Disagree? Let's chat, friends.

  • There's plenty of ways to go about this - at random (Servant of Yogg-Saron) or very specific (Lady in White); from hand (Felwalker), from deck (Nightshade Bud) or from the past (Tess Greymane). Maybe you'll find another different way!

Sothis is looking for some cards to be cast this week - so why not get the cards to do the casting?

Do you hear that sound in the tavern? Look, it's Toki! She's playing at her favorite role-playing campaign, Trouble in Thunder Bluff! And she gathered well-known characters to play with her!

"Everyone! Listen! If I gathered you there, it's to help the Taurens of Thunder Bluff to protect their city against the Venture Company! Their president, Razdunk, wants to take their territory to build a mine there! Will you defeat him? Or will you fall against the goblins and their machines? Let's start playing!"

Trouble in Thunder Bluff brings a brand new mechanic, Abilities! The abilities are a new type of card that are added to your hand when you play an ability minion. You can play them like spells, however, if the minion dies, they disappear from your hand. These cards are not spells so they are not affected by spell damage or similar effects. You can see the health of the minion to whom they belong in the bottom-right corner of the card.

And you saw it, a new type of minions, the Taurens! They will mostly have a synergy with locations. You can expect to see them in the Druid, Paladin, Shaman, and Priest classes!
On top of that, each player has their own legendary card and a role-playing spell that refers to an action of a role-playing game.

And there she is, the promotional card, Toki, the Game Master!

Toki allows you to choose one of 4 quests at the start of the game. The quest is automatically played for both players. That means that each player can complete the quest. If your opponent also plays Toki, the second player will also choose a quest among the 3 remainings, so both players will have 2 quests!

Just want to see if anyone else has noticed this interaction, and if we think it is bugged or working as intended. My opponent played Solid Alibi, then I played Sire Denathrius which should have been lethal. Instead of taking the 30 or so damage that was heading face after enemy minions died, my opponent only took 1 damage. I expected Denathrius to work like the old C'Thun (shooting for 1 damage over and over until he ran out of "ammo"). This was not the case.

So what do we think? Intended or bugged?
