Word for word: Tom Holland wants to "take a break from acting".
The success of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" seems to be a given, and a fourth film in the series sounds almost a matter of course. But it can get a little complicated. While the producers at Sony and Marvel are hungry for new adventures, Tom Holland is unsure of his future as a hero.
According to a new interview, Sony producer Amy Pascal and Marvel boss Kevin Feige are keen to continue the good collaboration between their studios. Hollywood Reporter writes that "Spider-Man 4" is under active development:
- Yes, we have already begun to develop where history goes next. I say that outright because I do not want fans to go through the same trauma as after "Far From Home", says Feige.
"A lot to work with before the next film"
The problems that Feige is referring to are the rights drama that arose, when the character Spider-Man belongs to Sony but has been loaned to Marvel / Disney. For a while, it looked like Disney would stop producing Spider-Man movies, until our hero Tom Holland himself made them rethink.
- It will not happen again, Kevin Feige assures.
Sony's own spider mother Amy Pascal sees a natural chance for an exciting sequel after the end of "No Way Home":
- At the end of the film, we see Spider-Man make a decisive decision that has never been made before. It's a sacrifice. And it gives us a lot to work with before the next film.
