October 1 - October 31 · Daily resets at midnight Eastern

October is Oozefest! The Ooze is rising out of the pumpkin patch and the camp has one month to get ready for it. Knock on other members' doors for candy, and on realm pages and news articles too: three quarters of the time you get a treat, and the rest of the time you get a trick. Donate candy, timber, bars and fish to the camp defenses to raise the Settlement Level, because every level of it makes everybody hit the bosses harder. Five bosses come one a week, each with three attacks a day and a chapter of the story, and the last of them walks up to the wall on the twenty-ninth. Smelt, tan and weave what you gather into gear at the Forge, then open a shop on your profile and sell what you do not need. The free 50-level pass pays Ectoplasm all month.

      Hey any recommendations to hunt for cobalt bars?

        Well, the monster fights that look like robots before you see them can all get cobalt ore. But to actually get the ore the fight has to be of a certain difficulty it seems. Like if it is an "even" or "hard" fight I blow through the opponent, and rarely get anything for my trouble. So it seems like it has to be "deadly" (which means you actually take damage usually) to get enough of the normal reward to get the ore. Right now none of the "robot" fights are hard enough. So I am waiting for rotation and hoping that one of the zones with robots is assigned a high difficulty.

        I also noticed some chatter from Pezman that seemed to indicate that he might be getting some cobalt ore from mining. But he is level 100 Mining so that might help. I have never seen it from mining, and I am only level 79.

        Edit: And to get the fight you want you can spam scouting, even without retreating. Sometimes the scouting seems to get stuck, so I scout somewhere else and it usually resets it.

          I have gotten exactly zero cobalt from mining. I found a couple while trick-or-treating only. That's why my forging level has been stuck at 60 for over a week.

            Ah, I misunderstood then. Good to know. Well I guess I'll still increase mining while I wait for the venture rotation, since getting iron and coal is at least always good.

              From my experience, the high level ventures against Constructs give Titanium more often than Cobalt. Which is nice after you get over the Cobalt hurdle, but until that it's not too helpful.

              I'm waiting for rotation too since two of the enemy types I'm targeting are now all low-level. What were the odds. I've been working on my Tannery while waiting, if you need Scaled Leather, I'm listening to offers.

    Sorry, just have to brag:

    • I'm working on it, but my main priority is collecting all the fish. Energy really limits how much you can do in a day, and food just restores 3.

      If I were to guess, I'd say Flux added energy specifically to slow you down.
