Dalaran Crashes Into Blackrock Mountain - Blackrock Crash Brawl Rewards Old Seasonal Card Back

A new patch hit Hearthstone today and with it came some very interesting client data! We've got details to share for an upcoming Hearthstone brawl called Blackrock Crash!

Internally the brawl is referred to as EVIL Blackrock Mountain. Awesome.

What is Blackrock Crash?

You brought the city of Dalaran to ME? laughs in Nefarian

We only have a small glimpse into it so we're not 100% certain on everything here so keep that in mind. Yep, that's a datamined content warning.

With that out of the way, Blackrock Crash is a very interesting piece of content. It appears to be a Solo PvE Tavern Brawl that actually takes form as a Dungeon Run and will be available during this year's Fire Festival. From it, an old card back is returning, the Ragnaros card back, which is earned when you complete a run.


Old Season 12 Reward

There's also a second component, or at least that's what it appears to be, where the brawl takes form as a mega raid boss for Fireside Brawls. Much like when The Lich King was raided years ago with a combined health pool, the same seems to be the case for Ragnaros. Oh yeah, that Ragnaros has 15000 health.

Blackrock Crash Quests

The brawl has some special quests associated with it. We're earning an old card back for completion of a run and some individual cards.

  • Mountain Climber - You completed a run of Blackrock Crash!
  • Rockin' with Rafaam - You finished a run with Raffam!
  • No Brakes Drake - You won in under an hour!
  • E.V.I.L. Mastermind - You won in under 40 minutes!

Finishing a run requires defeating Ragnaros.

There are eight bosses you will fight inside the Blackrock Crash. We don't know the exact order of them other than Ragnaros being last, but here they all are!

    yeah its not your fault. and it was not my fault too that I have never seen some ancient civilization's capital in its glorious times, well guess what ? They are ruins nowadays. So I've missed the opportunity to see that like whoever missed the opportunity to get first seasons' cardbacks.

    That's so stupid to give old seasonal rewards to new players and that's so stupid to ask for that. You've missed that opportunity no matter what. That's being rude to old players, to give season exclusive rewards to the players who couldn't achieve those in its responsive time.

  • Dude, you "earned" the card back during season 12 and now they're "earning" the card back from this limited time event. Thematically the fire festival has always featured rag so it makes sense to award his card back.

  • I like the part where you compared receiving a digital card back to traveling back in time and being able to witness the glory and splendor of an ancient civilization. Oh, and Saviors of Uldum is coming, so we get to do both!

      I don't really consider this that earth shattering when you take another Blizzard game into consideration (WoW).

      In WoW many of us hardcore mount collectors eventually started seeing mounts we spent months searching for, or grinding millions of gold for, etc eventually pop up on the BMAH. If a game like WoW was going to eventually open up extremely rare mounts or items up for many more people to get I wouldn't consider Blizzard opening up a card back that you spent almost no effort getting (rank 20 or 5 games is hardly exhausting effort) then I'm not crushed by the news honestly.

    • I am super excited for this card back. I have been playing since beta and missed out on this card back and it's been the envy of my collection.

      Great idea from Blizzard to bring back older card backs. Don't get your panties in a bunch because of the "lack of exclusivity."

        maybe i didn't work hard, maybe it was so easy to obtain but there were a time restriction for it and I spent my time to get it. It isn't about trying hard or stupid card back.

        It is about the value which Blizzard didn't give the old players and loyal players.

        I know what is value and I know the most valuable thing in a life is time. I think you need to consider your values.

      Those season cardbacks should stay exclusive to the one's that earned them. Even though they were pretty easy to obtain, giving them a rerun isn't really promoting exclusiveness.
