Rexxar's 7th fight

Submitted 4 years, 1 month ago by

Am I the only one who found Rexxar's 7th fight needlessly hard? We have a wanjangled secret deck that isn't that great compared to his infinite steam deck that pukes up 2/6 taunts that spew up even more minions. He has bonus health to sustain an aggro push till he can start puking out his boats and eye of the storm. As if that wasn't bad enough he has lifesteal with walking fountain and earthquake to wipe the board. Then we have a terrible hero power it cant kill the boats by itself and it's random which is even worse. I could probably elaborate more but I can't really remember what else he pulled on me.

Bbbbbuuuutttttttt maybe it was just my terrible draw

You meant "Rexxar" instead of "Rengar", I presume? ;-)

Saw the subject on this thread from the homepage and clicked it, thinking there was some LoR/LoL content I missed. :-P

First try was hard... Almost won though

Second try was a walk in the park. I think rng has a place there

Yeah, the hardest part of the fight was trying to make Rexxar’s absolutely atrocious deck work. Like even the automatic deck builder is better than that garbage!

Anyway, if you can’t clear the first few ships you are definitely screwed. The key is to just keep removing his ships. Thats the whole fight. He can’t fight back outside of Monsoon (which is an awesome callback by the way).

Also, the final fight was such a disappointment as well. Whats the point of giving us such a hero power when your opponent barely has any minions either? It just came down to me smacking him over and over with the Eaglehorn Bow and then winning

This ain't no place for a hero

Its actually amazing how Jaina's adventure was like a walk in the park and Rexxar's, at least to me, is like trying to walk a very enthusiastic and insistent dog under heavy rain. I died twice in the adventure, once to that very odd mission with Misha where I mistakenly believe the idea was to kill her instead of the trap, and then to Gronn, which was like packing a ton of canned sardines for a field trip and then remembering that the can-opener was left at home.

That mission you refer to was against Daelin, and it was one of the hardest mission in the adventure, but only because your deck and hero power is largely shit, and your opponent has an unforeseen kill switch and two Eye of the Storms out of nowhere. To elaborate, your hp is to deal 4 damage (to  a minion no less) in a game where your opponent's hp was to summon a ship with 6 health, and if not killed snowballs the fight. Suffice to say that I only won with some rng from [Hearthstone Card (misdirect) Not Found], of which without there was absolutely no chance of winning.

Its weird that Rexxar actually starts pretty well, with some well thought out cards, and that hp to summon Misha was amazing. For some reason this was then taken away for a crude hp that deals 5 damage to a minion (Gronn plays no minions for 5 turns by the way, if youre wondering). A little disappointing that the final hp wasn't just summon an animal companion, or even all three for 5 mana. Would at least be flavorful, if not making the fight less frustrating.

Yeah from what I've heard so far, this book of heroes is significantly more difficult compared to the Jaina one. I personally struggled against Misha, only winning because the hero power killed their own creature which had lethal otherwise, and Gronn, which was the only one I lost to. Going off of what other people have said, it definitely feels like this one is a lot more RNG reliant, with Daelin being able to snowball out of control for some people, or in my case, not playing any minions until his hero power, which at that point the hero power and whatever board I had already could just handle all his boats.

I definitely do think having the hero power not kill the boats in one shot is fine, but it definitely could have been something more useful. with the same case being true for the final fight, where the hero power legitimately is just worthless.

Same experience here. Lost to Misha because I didn't figure out I needed to kill the trap in my first run (I'm glad I wasn't the only one who made that mistake btw). Then lost to Daelin and Gronn at first try due to bad RNG in the first try each. Gronn was actually down to 3 Health and we had both emptied our hands, so it was a super lucky win for him.

On a side note: I can't tell if the story is true to the lore, but I liked it.

I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

It's pretty faithful. The only thing that was made up was him saving Misha from a bear trap (it's not specified how he tamed Misha in the actual canon). The only major thing missing was Haratha's death, which was Rexxar's original companion. He sacrificed himself to save Rexxar from a warlock that was going to drain Rexxar's life to sustain himself. It's one of the major reasons Rexxar abandoned the Horde.

Also, shame on y'all for seeing a bear caught in a trap and immediately trying to kill it. You've been playing too much Hearthstone - you see Hunter and you just go face :P

I'm the only one who stops to see if he's dead.

    Hmm. Turns out he's dead.

Lol, who else in the entire horde uses traps, bear traps no less, and Rexxar himself didn't even comment on it.

And besides, since the trap didn't switch places, I would naturally assumed that either Misha wanted to kill herself or that by beating her we sort of 'tame' (honestly that Rexxar didnt cringe from saying those words baffle me) her. Should've at least have stated that he needed to take out that trap (if he did, well, I didn't see it)

No I fully agree, all the best friendship stories begin with one of them sitting back and watching the other bleed out in a trap. It really demonstrates how Rexxar considers beasts as equal (superior even) to the humanoid races. Wait, hang on...

Seriously though, I think that mission in particular was a great success. You either role play as Rexxar the first time around, or learn the hard way that Rexxar is an animal lover (that's not a sexual term, in case it gets lost in translation).

Lost once to Misha, because i thought you needed to kill misha with the trap... And  i lost like 8 times in a row to Daelin, best attempt got him to 13 health, but i ran out of clears and recourses, and he snowballed out of control. Luckely managed to win on the 9th try because i hit good RNG finally. The Daelin fight is just "draw good cards and removal" and "have a board presence". Which is kinda hard.. WITH A DECK ALMOST FULL OF SECRETS. That 7 mana weapon that summons 3 sneks was pretty nice, but the rest of the deck was horrible. Also screw the Monsoon, Eye of the Storm and the Walking Fountains that come out, pretty much immediatly when your FINALLY on the board! Also why did they even give rexxar that HP? "Deal damage to a random enemy minion".. that doesn't really sound like a hunter hero power... And it doesn't have that much flavor with Rexxar, mainly considering Misha kinda dissapeared from play, even though some of the latter bosses have voicelines like "what a mighty bear" or something along those lines...

But despite that, I liked the story though. I wasn't that familiar with Rexxars lore/backstory, but now i appreciate Rexxar a lot more. (Also the pack give me a Ace Hunter Kreen, so i guess the trouble was worth it.)

*Edit: Looked up some lore video's, and wow. This book of heroes actually was very close to the original lore. The only notable differences are that Rexxars previous pet Haratha sacreficed itself to protect rexxar from a warlock, kinda sad they didn't tell that story. Mainly considering that Haratha was a legendary card in your deck for a few fights. Also they added the "save misha from a bear trap" lore, as that wasn't realy explained before. I like this change! I hope the other book of heroes chapters will get similar treatment. Mainly after that bothed lore in Jaina's book. (They should have added more fights in that one, because she has a lot more lore/backstory then other characters.)

RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.

Exactly this! I got him on the 2nd try (after hanging in for a long enough time to get a good enough feel for his deck) but felt very lucky because he got a weapon and started attacking my creatures, which triggered my secrets, which added charges to my weapon. Your hero power dealing 4 damage is just not enough to deal with his hero power if you have no board of at least a few 2/3s or 3/3s in the midgame  - if the boats that his HP summon stick for a turn, he just snowballs you with value and better cards in the endgame.

If you think Daelen Proudmoore is bad....just wait.  The last fight is....yeah.  no spoilers beyond the obligatory "fuck that guy".

Well , Boss number 7 is defenitely the hardest one on Rexxars Book of Heroes but still managable.

Lost the first time against him but won on the second try.

Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
