Odd Control (w/o dragons)

Greetings fellow Hearthstone players! I reached incredible results with odd warrior as I have been playing it since Boomsday release as my main deck to rank 5. I’m glad to share some of my experience with you by writing my first guide.

First of all I think it is necessary for me to say why I think that the Control variant of Odd Warrior is way better than the Dragon version (which includes cards like: Crowd Roaster,  Emberscale DrakeSmoltherhorn Lancer and Ysera). That is because Odd warrior is a control deck supported by your hero power, your hero power is a very good resource generator and you should definitely take advantage of that, while dragons are medium-big minions that have good effects but also require you to be holding a dragon. That restriction made me choose the Control version.

Now we can talk a bit about the general gameplan. To be honest, once you begin to feel the deck(it’s strengths and weaknesses) it is not that complicated to pilot and you will find yourself flying through those ranks)))

You should almost always be greedy and hero power whenever you can, remember that a board with less than 7 attack might be easily ignored as you really want to hold onto your AoE. Speaking of which, you have 4 of those in your deck: 2 copies of Reckless Flurry as well as Brawl. You only want to use them when your opponent’s board is big enough and you know that it won’t be easy for your opponent to recover. You should also understand the difference between these 2 clears, Reckless Flurry is a 3 mana full clear if you have enough armor, while Brawl leaves one minion on the board but has no drawback nor requirements. This means that if you know that you will run out of armor and will not be able to regain it, you should Flurry, but if you know that your opponent won’t flood the board anymore, it is your last chance to Brawl. Another tip is to hold onto your Shield block, don’t  play it on curve just because you can, it might be useful later in the game for example paired with the Flurry or Shield Slam. It is possible that you won’t even play it the entire game and you should never play it against other control decks, you don’t want to draw as you win by fatigue. Also, it is important to realise when you want to play Dr. Boom, when you feel that the armor is not relevant anymore, change your hero and bring the Explosive plans to the board) The permanent rush on your mechs will be extremely useful and will help you deal with your opponent’s future threats. It can also be paired with Flurry and Shield Slam as it gives you 7 armor when played.

Now, another thing to mention is how to win against hunter. It is a tricky strategy, but once you master it, you will never ever lose to a hunter again. In the early and mid game you want to armor up and control your opponent’s board and once there is a turn where your opponent leaves the board blank (for example if they play their DK) you drop a big minion on the board and hope that it survives, the next turn you cube it+ faceless and voilà, you win the game as your opponent doesn’t have a way to deal with your board.

Against any other Control you want to be as greedy as possible and you do the same cube + faceless but on a Direhorn Hatchling and try to get as many of those as you can by copying them and also with Zola, that will ensure that you win the fatigue game.

So that’s probably it, if you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comment section below, I will be happy to help you and answer them, have a nice day and good luck in ranked!

P.S. I don’t recommend crafting it as it will be dead after the rotation so craft this deck only if you have most of the cards needed or you’re intereted in wild (Odd Warrior also works in wild and, most importantly, beats big priest, I might write a guide for the wild version soon)

Nice list there. I tried it out (for only 1 game though) last night, as I was super bored with the typical dragon package and needed a "fresh" warrior. Worked out pretty great against the luckiest shaman I ever saw :P

I changed Tinkmaster with one MCT.

Will play a bit more with it and see how it goes.

    RE: JARVIS

You should try the deck replacement button in HS a few times.  It will give you some really good ideas with replacement cards.

They did a lot of improvement with this.

in your guide, you mention fighting hunters specifically, but I have always found hunter easiest to beat. it is really important that you just know when to play reckless furry, and when you just tank up.

also, a couple times in your guide, you mention some cards by name, and changed to color of the font to make it the same as the cards rarity. but when you are making a post, above where the words are, one of the tools is a button that says "card". when you press that, there are two boxes that say "card" inside them. you can write the name of a card in-between them, and when you hover over it, you can see the card. it is a lot easier.

also, I am missing a couple of cards from the list I want to replace. I am missing Tinkmaster Overspark, a second Carnivorous Cube, and Big Game Hunter. I am willing to craft one of the epics if I need to, but if I dont have to than thats good too. which one should I craft? and what should I replace them with. right now I am thinking of crafting the cube, replacing the hunter with Baron Geddon (trust me on this one), and replacing tinkmaster with Tar Creeper.
