Does Priest just get shafted? This is pretty much just a worse Silence unless the giga meme Silence Priest actually becomes a thing (and I worry what happens if the entire year of the gryphon attempts to support Silence priest)
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I love how that this can be used as removal or as a buff. It's a thought-provoking, flavorful card.
That said, it's weak removal and a buff for a weak archetype. Hrmm.
Better call Thrall!
Worse Silence when targetting your opponents minions, so i'm guessing were going to probably also see the return of Silence priest? However the problem Silence priest always had was their enourmous lack of card draw, not the lack of Silence effects. Also most Silence priest cards are going to rotate soon, so that's also unfortunate.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Ancient Watcher is out, but Humongous Razorleaf is in ... I dunno, seems like we'll need a lot more targets before this becomes good. OK against Frozen, I guess?
Arcane Watcher has been strong in spell damage decks, but spell damage actually advances the goal of killing your opponent. Silence, on the other hand, is mostly defensive, so building a deck around it is awkward.
I guess it is support for silence priest, a good thing is that the other cards priest used for this archetype mostly could only affect friendly, so having the option for the enemy minions is good.
Its for silence priest. Or for self flagellation.
Either way, this card is trash. Tempo priest doesn't need something like this, and the only card that's big for its useless body is Humongous Razorleaf and Arcane Watcher. And I wouldn't pick my nose to play them just so this card can maybe sometimes do something good.
Maybe its because all the other classic cards are now either gone or nerfed so team5 thinks if you control a 5/9 by turn 4 you just automatically win the game.
Well i only see this performing for cards like Humongous Razorleaf - and after you played Focused Will on it you could co Crazed Alchemist.
Reminds me of the good old Silence Priest days :)

Good on paper but completely irrelevant as Tempo/Silence Priest are dead on arrival without proper card draw. Also, Inner Fire is gone which makes all health buffs a lot weaker. And targeting an enemy minion with this is always going to feel bad. Terrible.
"True mastery takes dedication."
To me, the strangest thing about Focused Will is that it's cheap, minor buff in a class where that would be hugely relevant if it didn't silence the target - Crimson Clergy, Sethekk Veilweaver, and Nazmani Bloodweaver would all love a nice, cheap buff if it didn't mean losing their primary value.
Maybe Inner Fire gets replaced in an expansion and makes the buff relevant, but where I think it probably shines is in its flexibility. When your opponent has a single, major threat in your way (e.g. some big deathrattle like Rattlegore or a taunt that's blocking you from dealing face damage), this is a great card. When that's not the case, there may be plenty of times your minions are functionally vanilla and could use a 3 health boost to trade (e.g. battlecry, frenzy, and spellburst are all one-time effects. Once they're spent, your minion is basically vanilla).
I'm liking this more and more with the "can't attack" minions
