Honestly I though this was going to rotate, because of the same reason the spell power totem has been removed.
Still, since I like control decks and RNG I'm glad it remains.

I really don't get why they wouldn't just finally shelve Brawl.

It's even more confusing when you consider their heavy focus on class identity, which Brawl completely breaks.

Literally every single piece of Warrior removal is conditional. Whether it involves having armor or the minions being damaged, they never get a 1-part-clear-all (unless you count stuff like Whirlwind or Warpath)

All previously released Warrior boardclears (Deadly Arsenal, Plague of Wrath, Reckless Flurry) were either completely eclipsed by Brawl or saw minor play in decks that specifically supported them...but always alongside Brawl.

Brawl is just way too good to ever be replaced by anything else which makes facing control warrior extrremely boring.

NOt only that but the inherent RNG makes it so unbelievably frustrating for both sides. I'm almost convinced the card is rigged to always give either the best or worst possible outcome, but never anything inbetween.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, make it so the minion with the highest attack always survives. That way board centric decks that aren't pure swarm can play around it and Warrior can't just jam a 1-drop and wipe a full board of 6/6s because RNGesus.

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

They took away a ton of Warrior's best card draw/cycle tools (and all of their bad cycle tools too). Control Warrior's consistency with getting cards like Brawl was a big part of the problem with the card. Its overall powerlevel has remained the same, but we can probably expect Control Warrior to have it in their hand less often, making it a more reasonable inclusion.

I don't think that will be the case. They explicitly said there will be more card draw this year and the removal of all the core draw will probably be compensated for.

I haven't seen that - can you cite the remarks about card draw please?

Okay, so I dug up the comments about card draw (https://outof.cards/hearthstone/2745-dean-ayalas-community-qa-8-social-features-future-of-shaman-charge-combos-top-legend-rewards-pre-release). The specific remark by Dean Ayala is:

"We originally pulled back on draw for Shaman but we're putting it back, along with any other classes that were draw restricted.

Draw is something that we'd like all classes to have some options in, while only a few classes excel at having full hands and mass draw cards like Sprint."

I don't read that as "Warrior will get replacements for all their good draw tools." Losing Battle Rage strongly implies that Team 5 is trying to remove Warrior from the list of "full hand/mass draw" classes. And the removal of Shield Block and Shield Slam in favor of Shieldmaiden and Warsong Outrider suggests that Control Warrior is moving away from spell-based armor/removal and towards more minion-based armor/removal. These two factors should weaken Brawl considerably. Not only will it be less likely to show up in your hand (because you have fewer mass draw tools), but you'll be developing a board and less excited about using Brawl to clear the enemy board because it will cost you considerably too.

Ah.. Brawl. One of warriors strongest most iconic board clears... So powerfull that if your playing against a warrior, you always have to assume they got Brawl in their hand, and so powerfull it literally hasn't been powercrept yet. I honestly thought they were going to rotate it so they could print new warrior removal, without the fear that Brawl would overshadow it instantly..

RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
