  • Pretty sweet card for murloc shaman. The symmetrical effect is a lot less of a drawback than with Spellslinger because you pretty much know what your opponent is going to get, and chances are your deck is better equipped to exploit murlocs than your opponent's is.

  • These cards never seem to work out. This probably is the best version of them that they've released, however.

  • that's pretty great actually. Usually giving your opponent Murlocs won't help them whatsoever.

However, I feel like this just doesn't compare to Underbelly Angler and I don't see any other Murloc decks around so i'm not sure if this'll see play

You are giving them something when they had nothing. Even if it does nothing more than add 2 ATK to the board, you gave them that for free. It is almost never a negative for them.

Except if you're facing a control deck for instance, they would much rather have removal than a murloc. The cards that are being generated benefit you far more than they benefit your opponent, in almost all situations.

This can probably replace any mediocre two-drop that murloc shaman is currently running. Murloc Tidehunter for instance. Same stats, albeit not as wide so less value from Bloodlust, Coldlight Seer and Soul of the Murloc but it draws you a card.

That's completely irrelevant.  You aren't taking away their removal. You're just giving them free shit to fill out their curve.

I never said that you are. But you're not exactly giving them a Lightning Storm. You're giving them a card that doesn't benefit them as greatly as the other card does for you. Sure, it's not a 2 mana 3/2 with battlecry: "draw a card" but it's still a 3/2 murloc with an upside. Namely, you getting a card that synergizes with your deck, whilst your opponent gets a random minion with no synergy for them whatsoever.

        Typical arena player response. :D

in ladder, they don't want to play it most likely because of they lose their calculated tempo. You are right about adding a little value to their hand but it is a murloc so this is still better than Tanglefur Mystic or Spellslinger. Aggro can conjure a benefit from it but I don't think a control or combo player wants this in hand. They stay at 8-9 cards holded most of the time and it may cause a card-burn.

in a mirror match as Murloc Shaman vs Murloc Shaman, playing this could be a nightmare for you.

  • Filler minion that serves as a nerf to all murloc generators such as Underbelly Angler, Neptulon, and Megafin.  Adding cards to your opponents hand could be ok in mill decks as well.

  • I fail to see how this card can be actually good.

More murlocs, ok, but random, how are you abusing the tribe in Standard?

In Wild there are better choices already, no room for such a card in a deck.

  • You run this card with Hungry Crab, now you are a murloc deck, and they might or not be a murloc deck if they are not, then they won't play the murloc so you don't get a 1 mana 3/4 if they are then your hungry crabs got other targets, and it's just a symetrical effect.

Anyway you benefit from the deal while lowering your opponent's hand space. You can even mill the opponent sometimes, or get a 3/4 for 1 mana and fuel.

  • I am really getting tired of murlocs.

If you aren't prepared to deal with Murloc Shaman on ladder, start preparing now.

  • Don't give me fishes, teach me how to catch them !

  • I don't think you always want to play this on curve, but it could be useful later on when you desperately need more minions. A 2-mana 3-2 draw one is very good stats, and the negative side compensates that. So decent card with circumstantial usage. Against opponents with big hands it might be useful, in a mirror against aggro it is probably not.
