Question about honor

So... Yesterday I got 1000 honor and today I appear as a Grunt. 

Does the old 1000 count towards unlocks?

Good question, I was wondering the same, but my impression is that it probably does not unfortunately.

True, so ultimately it does not affect the eventual outcome of obtaining the golden legendary.

It is just that the previously already acquired honor points are not counted towards the rank progression which is just for bragging rights anyways.

Yeah, But It got me confused when the New rank gave me the "Card obtained" notification.
