Any news on these damned bug fixes?

Submitted 2 years, 3 months ago by

This has been driving me nuts, and I'd be willing to wager that there are a ton of other people that feel the same.  I normally love to go in and bust out these achievements for the new expansion as it gets you more XP and higher on the rewards track to earn more gold with each level.  This time around though, does anyone else feel that Blizzard has taken their sweet time in addressing these bugs?

I had posted/reported a number of bugs with these achievements since day one and I am still finding myself at a loss for words.  I've not heard of any announcement of when/if they are planning on addressing these bugs.  I have been checking the forums of several sites and Blizzard numerous times and I haven't seen anything.

I work in software, so I know that this time of year... virtually nothing gets done.  Most people are taking time off for the holidays and such.  So I can anticipate there being a delay.  But even in most software environments it feels that there is some kind of information available.  But for this expansion it sounds like crickets.

What are everyone else's experiences with this so far?

Same overall bad personal experience here.

Perhaps even a tad negative on my side, but it does not bode well that the number of bugs seem to grow every year and take longer and longer to get addressed. As for the current XP achievements bugs, it baffles me that they were not discovered before the new expansion was released nor got fixed soon after. Of course, it is not the end of the world and there should be plenty of time left to complete the achievements if they get fixed soonish in 2022.

    Still feels bad man.

As you already kind of eluded to, they are in their end of year break where the whole company takes a few weeks off.  So not much will be done about it until maybe next week at the earliest.  It does seem odd that they couldn't get the fixes in before the break since the expansion released 12/7, however, I do believe they had some other bugs they probably focused on first.  Then I'm guessing they focused on deciding balance changes to push out after Worlds.  I understand that being priority as if they waited until January to do any balance changes people would have been super pissed!  So maybe that took all their time prior to the end of the year break?

The one that has to be really annoying is for people playing a lot of Paladin with the Cariel hero card.  Most of them have probably actually hit their achievement goal of damage prevented by the turtle shell and it shows no progress at all.

Quick!  Someone give me something clever to write here.

Probably not going to be addressed until at least a few weeks after Dec 2021. Its that time of the year after all, just try losing your internet line during a major holiday and face a week without it because everyone's taken a hike.

Perhaps this is the time we finally have a little talk about putting xp rewards for achievements and how unrealistic it is for the majority of the players to achieve it without going all out of their way to do so. And then for some reason they'd set it so it will only grant xp on the expansion itself, so you cant just let it be and complete it naturally as the game ages, forcing you to purposefully create decks out of cards no one in their right mind would insert into a competitive deck, just for the sake of the xp gain. To be honest, if there's an angry mob outside their offices demanding swift bug fixes to achievements, they have no one to blame but themselves.

They shut down the whole office between Christmas and New Year's.

Even when they do get back to work, I'd rather see more balance changes before they worry about fixing achievement bugs.

Honestly, they have to do both. Fix the achievements bugs AND introduce balance changes. It should not even be a choice, really.

With every new expansion and new game mode, the number of issues have been increasing exponentially, it seems. Either they hire more people or they postpone releasing new content, but at least spend proper time on improving or at least keep the game at a constant quality level. At this moment, the quality is clearly going downhill if you look at the growing known bugs list of the past few patch notes.

In a previous AMA with Iksar or Celestalon, they already acknowledged that the game is buggy and they would like to spend time on fixing this. Hopefully, it will happen sooner than later.

How the You Are Not Worthy achievement bug eluded their QA department (if there is one at all) is beyond me. Furthermore, how this could not be fixed before 2021 ended is also unfathomable.

By the way, I find comments stating 'do this instead of that' rather amusing. As if everything is done serially. Team5 is capable of doing multiple things simultaneously, right?

People are back to work and they started looking at the bugs: I expect most of them to be fixed with next Tuesday's patch (22.2).

.2 are usually the big mid-expansion updates. I wonder wether it's for BG, Mercs or maybe even Duels.

Duels' season ends in a month or so, so my best bet is that it's going to be either Mercs or BG.

I am still not seeing any progress on the Priest, Rogue, or Paladin quests being debugged.  I'm not seeing that anyone else has continued to have issues.  Is anyone else or is there something I am messing up?

Patch isn't out yet, so that's pretty much expected.

Its tomorrow, I think. On 25th Jan

Well, another patch means another chance to get disappointed apparently. Known issue of the latest patch states:

The Immovable Object remains… unmoved. Unfortunately, we were not able to fix the bug with the “You Are Not Worthy” achievement in Patch 22.2. The fix is being worked on and planned for a future update.

I mean seriously WTF? They might as well skip the fix already. Just add the related XP amount to all our accounts. Be done with it once and for all 😤
