Unless I'm missing some hidden synergy this is just bad. Playing it on curve usually means not being able to play everything you get and there aren't even that many good Arcane spells to begin with (Runic Orb is the best outcome and if you want that just play any other spell discovery minions).
Hopefully this indicates some creative future for Arcane Mage.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
To me this is a good reload option for both naga mage or any other aggressive mage. Even played on curve, you'll likely get a 3 mana spell since nearly every secret is an arcane spell.
The only possible problem here is redundancy. Most mages can already draw well enough, and the spells dont last more than a turn which means its possible you're playing nothing more than a 2/2 for 2 without any further descriptions.
But I still like it nevertheless.
Seems like a decent card actually, considering most arcane spells are pretty cheap. Also if you play this on turn 2, and it dies immidiately you can still have a chance to play a 3 or less cost arcane spell.
Actually in standard you have 2x a 1/3 chance of getting a card you cant play (9 spells total, Mass Polymorph, Arcane Overflow and Arcane Brilliance are the only cards you cant play on turn 3 if a Submerged Spacerock dies on turn 2/3.) Hmm those odds are a bit high tbh, but at least the odds of getting at least 1 decent card is good. And a 2 drop can contest board, and give you a play on turn 3. So i still think it's probably a decent card.
OH and of course, in wild this might fit into a few casino mage decks even if it doesn't give permanent spells.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Good arena card. Unless Mage gets a reason to play this, it’ll be bad in standard.
This ain't no place for a hero
