We've got a brand new event in Hearthstone's Mercenaries game mode and it's here only for a limited-time! This time, we'll venture into many dangerous Bounty zones with the aid of Y'Shaarj, the strongest Old God (as well as the first to die in World of Warcraft), which already made its appearance in Hearthstone in Whispers of the Old Gods with Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound.

Our journey won't be in search of just fame and success, but you'll be able to complete a set of 10 event Tasks, which will reward you coins for Y'shaarj and many other goodies.

Here are all the tasks that are available during the Y'Shaarj Mercenaries event. Click any of the links below to visit our guide for the task.

As you can see, these tasks are quite the mixed bag: while some are fairly simple to complete, others require more than a bit of thinking (and luck: that one's always welcome) and planning ahead.

Moreover, certain tasks clearly state that you need Comps consisting of Mercenaries belonging to specific races in order for your progresses to count: while the N'Zoth event was about Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and Murlocs, this time you'll need the help of Humans and Pirates!

Not all challenges might be as difficult as they seem at a glance: there are usually tips and tricks to be found to make everyone's lives easier. In this series of guides we'll take a look at how to complete each event Task, so that you'll be able to get your hands on all the rewards available. As of now, we'll focus our attention on the current task.

In case you missed them, if you click the banner below you'll have access to each of our task guides for this event.

How to Complete the "Sustained No More" Task from the Y'Shaarj Event

    • Requirement: Land a killing blow on Azshara, Tidemistress and Loyal Myrmidon in one turn in Queen Azshara Bounty.
    • Game Mode: Normal
    • Rewards: Y'Shaarj Mercenary.
    • Difficulty3/5

Although we've seen easier bounties, the Queen Azshara final fight is nothing particularly difficult: sure, there may be some hindrances here and there, but it is not an unsurmountable obstacle, especially in Normal mode.

The really annoying part is that Sustained No More asks you to kill the three enemy units on the same turn. Now, fortunately for us the task does not require us to destroy them with the same ability, otherwise things would've been way uglier: this opens up room for a few more strategies for be viable.

Regarding the final fight itself, Azshara will appear on the battlefield supported by a Loyal Myrmidon and a Tidemistress, resulting in a blue/red match for your Mercenaries. While Azshara has no aura effect, the two support units do have it.

    • Loyal Myrmidon - Apply Bleed (3) to all characters Attacking Azshara.
    • Tidemistress - Freeze all characters Attacking Azshara until the end of next turn.

The final fight's initial board state.

Let's now talk about each unit individually, starting from left and going to right.

Loyal Myrmidon covers the peculiar role of Bleed-generator: a good part of this final fight will revolve around said mechanic, and Myrmidon will provide a bunch of recurrent damage to anyone who'll physically approach Queen Azshara - literally a royal guard!

    Loyal Myrmidon's moveset.

Queen Azshara has a really powerful moveset, consisting of abilities whose speed is 0:

    • Stand Alone! will generate even more Bleeds to all your friendly units.
      • Said Bleeds will be then doubled by Myrmidon's Reopen Wounds - watch our for the snowball!
    • Stay! is a mass stalling tool, which you cannot possibly play around.
    • Suffer! summon a 0/50 Arcane Orb.

    Queen Azshara's moveset.

The Arcane Orb will die by itself at the end of the following turn; however, before doing so it will cast Obliterate 1, which will automatically force you to dispose of it in order to not see your entire board taking a very strong (and avoidable) blow.

Finally, we have Tidemistress, whose most dangerous part resides in the aforementioned aura effect. If you do not physically approach Azshara, Icicle 3 won't even tickle, and the same goes for Riptide 3 (remember: Attacking and Acting are two different things!).

    Tidemistress' moveset.

Because of Tidemistress's aura effect, we suggest you to not build your party around physical Mercenaries, otherwise not only Sustained No More, but the final fight itself will become much more difficult, if not impossible.

Not only special damage is better suited for this challenge, but you'll also need some form of mass Healing, since you do not want the Bleeds to go out of control and demolish your Mercenaries.

    Suggested Comps

Here are a few Mercenaries parties you can use to complete the "Sustained No More" task. You'll be able to choose between many comps, suggested by different content creators, as well as mentions of budget alternatives for our readers that don't have many Legendary Mercs in their collection.

Out of Cards Recommendation - Holy Comp

We think the Holy Comp is the superior build for this task:

    • You've got Mercenaries belonging to all three roles, meaning that you can adapt to the fight really well.
    • You've got lots of ways to heal, allowing you to swiftly remove all the Bleeds placed upon you.
    • You can alternate single-target attacks and AoE abilities to set up a triple kill turn.

To prove this comp of being fit for this task, we actually recorded a video showing you that you can pull this off with ease.

Here are a few tips for those unfamiliar with this strategy.

    • Your party is very versatile, so during the climb you can pick the three Mercenaries you need the best against your opponent.
      • I like always having a Taunt option available (so either Cornelius, Tyrael or Uther) in order to block potentially harmful attacks, but it's up to the player.
    • The final fight trio is Anduin Wrynn-Prophet Velen-Uther.
    • No need to aggro your opponents: take your time, heal the Bleeds and slowly chip them down.
    • Always dispose of the Arcane Orb the next turn it is summoned.
    • Once all enemy characters are around 30 Health, you may want to go [Hearthstone Card (Velen's Blessing 5) Not Found] (ability needs to be at least at level 4) into Holy Nova 1 into Avenging Wrath 1.

Out of Cards Budget Recommendation - Nature/Dragon Comp

If you're short on a budget, then we advise you to exploit the sheer power of Dragon Mercenaries, which are also very cheap! Both Sinestra and Nefarian are rare units, but they carry a lot of damage thanks to incredibly efficient movesets; combine them with Yu'lon's survivability and Jade Gust 1 are you're good to go.

    • Both the Dragon and the Nature comps are independent: you can choose the one you prefer for climbing and the final boss fight.
    • Weaken your three opponent without killing them.
      • Keep in mind that Loyal Myrmidon will attack from time to time, so don't deal too much damage to it.
    • For the Dragon comp, you may think of Twilight Extinction 1 as your final move, while for the Nature comp it will have to be Chain Lightning 1.
