Can‘t get past 10 wins in arena

Submitted 5 years, 4 months ago by

I Play a lot in Arena and play about 2-3 runs a day. My average WR is about 6.5-6.8 wins. My last 4 Arena runs were awesome drafts. With all 4 decks i made it to 10:0. But after that i lost all 3 games. Everytime. Horrible draw mostly. Has something like that happened to you? Or am i being unlucky?

Yes, many times, even from 11-0 to 11-3. You have to understand that at these high wins, everyone has a great deck. So if you get unlucky and draw poorly for couple of first turns, that creates an enormous deficit for you in most situations, since your opponent can tempo out with a strong deck.

Could be just bad luck and not much you can do about it. Could be you actually got lucky and got to high wins with a subpar deck where you always drew the half of the deck that carried you and now you are drawing from the worse half. Could be number of things really. Like i said, at these high wins, everyone has a great deck so it is more volatile than around 3-5 wins for example, where you might be steamrolling with a much better deck than your opponents have.

Congrats to a pretty high WR overall, you obviously know what ur doing, so just keep at it and you will break through ;-)

PS: Moved thread to Arena section.

I think you‘re right. But the feeling of having a great deck and heading to a 12:0 run and then losing 3 times is just devastating :)

10 wins is also my best, but that was only one time. I also don't play arena much. Kudos to you on your success. Even with the average winrates you mention, you must at least break even on rewards, right?

Wow you must be really good at Arena.  I am lucky to get 3 wins lol.  The only time I get high wins is during the Halloween event.  I was able to combine mage and druid which are my two favorite classes in Hearthstone.

That came out wrong.. i‘ve had a lot 12 win runs. I have to compensate my 2-3 runs somehow :) it‘s just that i cant get past 10 with having powerful decks. Well maybe i‘m just misplaying

Even with such a great win rate, posting some videos here can help. It's generally easier for others to notice plays/turns that could have been handled differently.

Now you kids are probably saying to yourselves, "Hey Matt, how can we get back on the right track?"

Average winrates?:D Those winrates are almost leaderboard worthy. Those are very much above average :) Thats why i said, he probably knows what hes doing, so he should just keep at it and he will be fine ;-

My bad, I meant the winrates he gets on average, not that his winrates are average. His winrates far surpass my own, so I'm not dissing!

The last arena cycle was super inconsistant! I failed horribly with insane control decks, mage was a rng Fiesta and my only 12 win run was with a face hunter (statistically the worst class at that time). So yeah, i had similar issues.

My guess is, the tempo meta was more draw and luck dependent and you get quickly steamrolled in the first couple turns. Kripp was definitly right this time when he accused going second for his loss.

My first run in the new arena cycle was way different btw. 12-0 with an insane mage deck. Last three games against priest btw, seems control is back!

My best is 11 and i think i also had two devasting last matches. It was a shaman draft with 4 vulcanos... At 10+ it feels like i play against constructed aggro decks ...

6.5-6.8 wins on average is already very good, hard to say at that point what you're doing wrong without providing specifics like drafts or gameplay. It might not be a meta that is entirely suited to your playstyle. If you've made it to 10:0 four times in a row it just seems like an unlucky streak though.

Yeah that's mostly unfortunate variance. With that many runs and high average you are going to land some back to back 12s eventually, I'm sure. You can start going for more variance in your drafts (chasing the best decks snd strategies, but getting more 0-3s in the process), if you are more of the type who drafts consistency over potential power, that is. But I think that is poor practice anyway, and it will probably damage your average.

But even though you have a nice average, you also have some room to improve. I don't know anything about you so hard to say what that would be. But yeah, keeping at it, look to improve and maybe relax and have more fun, those would be the cliché tips. :)

Don't worry it takes time and patience (of course luck!)
