Competition Theme: Bold Moves
This week, our cards are getting bold and brash. But they don't belong in the trash.
- Make a card that conditionally gains a keyword (or multiple).
- Note that giving a keyword is not the same as gaining it. Cards that give keywords to other cards will not count (unless said card also happens to gain a keyword as well).
As Out of Cards is making some bold moves transitioning to Out of Games, Wailor is asking us to make our own bold moves with our cards as well.
As always, we can be reached through Discord or here on the site via PM if you have any issues to report.
Competition Phases
Here are the phases of this card design competition

Out of Cards may no longer be around in the form we once knew, but on Out of Games, we're still going to be bringing the competitions around. We've still got a season to finish.
I didn't realize until after I made it that it is a strict powercreep on Blood Herald, but then I really didn't mind that I did that since not only is that card terrible, but this is also a Legendary and a fairly difficult Rune requirement. There's a lot of fun that can be had with an effect like this one if you're able to get it to grow.
I am now also realizing that it's pretty easy to give it Charge because of the Hero Power. Is that problematic? Maybe not.
I have a couple flavor-heavy cards this week:
Pureblood Sorcerer brings the Pure mechanic to Mage, in a pretty obvious reference to the racist wizards from Harry Potter. I chose Scholomance for this very reason, although I admit it'd look more "realistic" with a custom watermark.
Chamaleonic Saurolisk makes sense because cards from other classes have different colors, therefore, it camouflages :)
Probably not a healthy card, but I thought the condition was unique/different so I went for it haha.
My idea. It's a bit like The Nameless One, but for the whole enemy board. Wanted to include all "static" keywords but didn't have space. Could say "Steal all keywords from all enemy minions" but that feels somewhat lamer and not very hearthstone-y.
Feedback:
linkblade91 - Would love this to be real but sadly it's way too OP. Either it's a 2 mana cheaper Pyroblast which would make Shadow/Undead decks insane, or it's just a massive heal+ free damage. You could heal for 10 and deal 10 damage to the enemy for 8 mana with no drawbacks. Only way to keep the idea and make it balanced i think would be something like "4 deal 8 damage to both Heroes. If you have 10 Health or less, this gains lifesteal."
Wailor - Chameleon is the best card here so far i think. Mage has had enough spell damage+2 cards for a while.
Demonxz95 - I definitely like it better than the abomination Blood Herald is, however sadly it is rather too similar. That stinky is in the game so we have to plan around it. 6 mana 2/2 should make it different enough.
I'll boop you
What would you guys think about an 8-9 mana (or maybe 5-6) minion with: "while this is in your hand, gain all keywords from minions on the board. Finale: give them to all friendly minions"?
PS: not really good at finding graphics for cards, nor have i been in touch with HS for a long while now, so if you think it's worth it, feel free to use this idea as your own :D
Gonna make myself take time for feedback:
Crusader2010 - Gaining all keywords, in my opinion, will always be concerning because of Charge. A simple Stonetusk Boar on the board and people will find a way to give all their minions Charge. I'm gonna echo this to Demon, but I personally don't think it's a good idea for that reason.
BasilAnguis - I find this card to be messy. The keywords don't mesh well together - you don't need Rush if you have Charge, you don't want Stealth if you want Taunt, etc. - but you have to cover for redundancies. They don't stick to the class' flavor profile, either; Lifesteal would have been a good one for Priest, but it's missing. There's got to be a more creative idea out there - you're usually good for it :)
Wailor - I like the Saurolisk; pretty straight-forward, but the flavor is quite amusing. I might not have got it without the explanation, though lol. I agree with Basil in-that Spell Damage +2 has been an overused concept lately.
Demonxz95 - As I alluded to with Crusader's feedback, that this can gain Charge is a problem in my opinion. It's the most readily available keyword you can acquire in Death Knight, it is the most relevant to a big-statted minion, and it is also the most dangerous. This could be a 5-Mana King Krush easily, and with Blood/Unholy as your combination the odds of it getting better than that are high. Would someone try shenanigans with The One-Amalgam Band to make some super-killer? Sure, and that sounds fun, but you don't need it when Charge is just sitting there on your Hero Power.
Glad to see this week is moving a bit faster :)
EDIT: I thought about making the Chameleon (which seems to be the preferred card of the two) a 1 Mana 2/2. What do you guys think?
Feedback:
To remedy this, I'd probably give it fair stats, like 4/7 (to prevent it being too OP with Charge + Windfury); and drop the stat gain entirely.
Finally, I also wanted to ask if it copies Deathrattles and Battlecries or just "textless" keywords. I kinda prefer the later, to be honest.
I mean, on the one hand, face damage is a class identity they activelly tried to go away from in Priest, considering they removed Mind Blast. However, it costs way more than two of those and it's harmful unless you are about to die, so I guess it's okay?
Finally, I think I like the art, but the way it's zoomed makes it hard to know what's going on, so I'd suggest zooming it out a little bit.
I like the idea, but as linkblade said, Charge could be very problematic considering it gives it to all other minions. Not sure how to remedy this besides making it quite expensive, although that would make the card suck outside of OTK shenanigans.
Regarding the artwork, as your card has Finale, it should probably have something to do with music, so I'd just Google "warcraft music artwork". You'll find some cool art pieces with that prompt :)
Well the feedback is quite good. I feel more confident that the effect in this form can now probably just be a Battlecry. It can't really build up that crazily now.
As for as keywords like Battlecry and Deathrattle (and all other keywords that function like this), my thought is that it would copy the Battlecry and Deathrattle keywords, and thus it would still be able to function with certain cards that synergize with those keywords, but the effect of gaining the keywords itself would simply do nothing.
Feedback:
I like Pureblood Sorcerer as a nod to Harry Potter, but the effect is supposed to be phrased as "If your deck has no Neutral cards". Just a minor wording thing is all.
Chameleonic Saurolisk is quite good. The effect fits in Rogue quite good and they could probably make something like this work, although I feel like it can probably start with Stealth at baseline.
That seems fine - a 1/2/2 Beast with a positive creeps on Enchanted Raven, but they're for different classes and from different times so I don't hate it. Gives you more leeway to slip in a card from another class for that initial Stealth. Conversely, if you were thinking to give it Stealth from the start like Demon suggested, I would leave its stats alone.
The thread seems to be moving a bit faster again this week. Hope I'm not too late.
@Aerojulwin I like it, it's a bit similar to Paragon of Light, but I don't mind it too much, as yours has a build-your-card feeling that really fits this comp.
@Demon Good job, having the effect be a Battlecry was a good call. Don't like the whole "copy Deathrattles but not their effects", although that's such a minor aspect of the card I don't really mind it.
You have slightly under 24 hours left to submit.
Wailor's runnin' up the scoreboard! Congratulations once again :)
