This weekend a Gold Open tournament took place in Shanghai as part of the second season of the Chinese Grandmaster system. 64 Chinese players battled it out for their share of the prize money and Gold points to help them qualify for the season finals, giving them the chance to join their compatriot VKLiooon at BlizzCon global finals. Shanghai Gold Open Tournament Format
This tournament introduced the new Shielded Conquest format that Grandmasters Season 2 uses for the Chinese audience.

I definitely prefer this format over the previous mono-class master tournament
I much prefer the greater number of classes represented. Variations of the same deck certainly adds some strategic decisions but ultimately is a lot more boring.
Maybe we were lucky that they introduced the previous format in a control warrior meta, so it showed the flaws of it right away.
