Risky Skipper Not Being a Pirate an Oversight! Fixed in an Upcoming Patch

Published 5 years, 10 months ago by

The third chapter of Galakrond's Awakening released yesterday and with it came an interesting card - Risky Skipper.

The card is interesting because it has plenty of Pirate flavor yet it didn't have the tribe we all expected. Hearthstone's Celestalon has confirmed on Twitter that it is a "bug" and an update will be released to correct it. We're not exactly sure on when the update is going to arrive other than "it might be a few days" as of February 3.

It does! This is a bug; Risky Skipper should be a pirate, and will be fixed in a future patch.

We’ve got a fix in testing, hope to release it soon. It might be a few days.

As i already said, a fast & frequent patch/fix policy implies their quality check is bound to get worse in time.

They know they can always fix things later, after release why worry too much?

But hey, everyone downvoted me when i pointed it out (when Galakrond cards were obviously OP) and everyone was happy with frequent fixes....

    There you go.

There's a difference between bad QA to careless balancing.

a bug is not a game balance problem

I just think blizzard goes by the model they make people unhappy but then fix the issue to make people satisfied.. instead of having the things right in the first place..

Sure, the Skipper issue is definitely a minor one.

And I also agree they exceed preemptively on purpose.

But my point is that the excess in their policy, together with frequent fixes (that causes some inherent carelessness), won't lead to a high quality product in average. Or at least, that is a risk, with their current policy.

  • Blizzard is tanking hard these days. This oversight does not help things.

Still, at least it has been acknowledged early.

    • "early" they said it was a bug about 2 weeks ago and there was a patch since then..

    • Agreed. There seems to be issues with everything they release these days :/

  • I actually don’t mind if it’s not a pirate card, they could have change artwork like Omega Defender.

The “Deal 1 damage to all characters” doesn’t fit well for pirates, but maybe it’s good that we need to balance out pirates card pool from getting them good generated ones.

    They did not catch

    a bug, made a patch

    T'was not for her eye

But for a tribe she should match!

  • Blizzards quality control seems to be non existent any more.

    • I posted almost the exact same comment on HearthPwn last night and it got downvoted haha. That site is a swamp

  • Thanks Blizz for solving important things above all

  • They knew about it about a month ago when the card was leaked.. Was sure it would be fixed by the time the card would be released but adding a tag to a card turns out to be too much work.

    • Hey come on, the printer was out of ink!
