Yes they did. I can't provide you with a link, but a question arose about nerfed cards and if anything was going to prevent people from exploiting the protection to farm lots of dust from nerfed cards, and they clarified this there.
I'm sorry but what was the Point of getting classic packs again?
Even as a f2p player I already own almost all classic cards except some few epics and a couple of legendaries.
Due to the immense power creep over the last few years so few of the epics and legendaries are playable.
I've also always been annoyed at promotions that are "cash only". I mean, I guess they need to make money, but even if they put some absurd gold amount as an option that would be nice.

Agree, but well from Blizzards point it makes sense. They want money
At the very worst, you will get 1560 dust. If you roll an Epic or a Legendary or even a few extra Rares, the value increases greatly. If you are looking to craft some missing cards for a deck than this is a very cost efficient way to make dust.
This is one of those things that I'll always buy immediately (in the hopes that I'll hit that timer for a legendary). Anyway, managed to get 5 epics, all of which I'll dust because I already have them! It's nice to flesh out some of my other decks with some of the goldens that I'm missing too!
I wish they had gold packs for expansion cards.

Do the Golden packs have a separate pity timer from regular Classic packs? Because if so, this is an amazing deal.
Yes, they have a separate pity timer. I just tested this, actually: I was four away from a guaranteed Classic Epic, but I did not pull one from the bundle.
Interesting. Do you know if the guaranteed legendary in the first 10 packs rule applies for golden classic packs distinctly from regular classic too?
It should, yes; otherwise I probably would not have opened my golden Onyxia. Your mileage may vary, of course, depending on how many Golden Classic packs you've already opened.

No golden leg, just a pyroblast and a bunch of rares/commons. Either my counting is out and I'm really unlucky, or it doesn't work.

I am at at least 9, and never opened a legendary in Golden Pack... I'm either super unlucky, or golden packs don't have pity timers.
