Idea to Encourage Wild Participation
Hi all. I've had an idea to make the new non dupe rules and all these free rares being dished out as end of season rewards even better.
Wouldn't it be a good idea if, once you have all the rares available from standard expansions, you start to get awarded rares from wild expansions? The dust value is exactly the same but it continues to widen your collection, meaning that newer players get to develop their wild collection without having to commit to buying a bunch of packs.
I've had a think and can't really see much of a downside, other than that you can't stockpile duplicate cards in order to potentially cash in on balance change refunds, as many of us did recently with Priestess of Fury, Crimson Sigil Runner, etc.
So, whadda ya think?

May all your legendaries be golden.
That would actually be a GREAT idea! I main wild and could use those rares. For people who don´t care about the format, a wild-only rare is at worst the same as a dupe.
It would be of good value for Wild players. But I think it would feel strange to open a bunch of cards from random old expansions from a new pack. Even if they implemented the idea, after a while you would fill all those common and rare holes in wild, and then you're back at the beginning (considering you miss a bunch of epics from new exp, like most do). Thus, I feel there would be no significant difference in getting cards the current way and your way in the long run, while the proposed system would feel unnatural, at least to me.
I think it's a better idea to just buy those wild packs and fill what you missed. After all, we fought a hard battle until we got to buy them with gold. I bought some packs this way, and it was fun, brought back some nostalgia. For new players, I imagine it would feel like exploring a whole new expansion, also hitting those guaranteed-in-10s for some value.
That's a great Idea! But Ethardoth has a point. BUT, what if they added separate rewards for wild ladder? This Idea could work for both sides, AND encourage players to play Wild! (At the very least to get more dust)
Maybe they can add a random HOFd legendary as a first time legend reward? Might be a bit too much though.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
I personally think they should split up the rewards and give 2 chests at the end of season. Wild chest would reward random packs from the wild expansions to help fill in people's collections. If they are going to be releasing a new game mode this year that will depend on our old collection, adding wild rewards seems necessary to help people who dusted their wild collections.
Only problem is that might make people feel like they are "required" to play wild to get the most value out of the game.
You could simply add a choice between earning standard packs/cards and wild packs/cards.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
This was what I was going to say.
And for packs surely there's a way to have a wildcard pack token type - that is, you get 5 pack tokens or so and you choose what pack types you want to spend them on.
And for rares definitely wild rares if you already have all the standard ones.
All generalizations are false.
I just started playing wild and getting cards or packs from rotated expansions at the end of the season would help a lot since i missed at least 6 expansions and all adventures up to Karazhan. I'm having a good time so far but that's because i'm in the lower ranks (currently Gold 5). I'm sure i'll start to see those big meta decks soon and then i'll be able to tell if wild is better than standard or if the meta is just as stale and boring.

Nice idea but not going to happen.
Blizzard doesn't have all too much interest in promoting wild. Mostly as many people assume because it's a much cheaper mode than standard.
If blizz really want people to get into wild just;
- Do more frequent balance changes in wild
- Make wild packs and adventures cheaper (if dust is the issue here, its inefficient to mine dust off packs for actual cards, and they still have to pay for it)
- Consider retiring some cards
- Make another format of wild that rotates between expansions like arena
- Make an effort to promote wild e.g. tournaments, discounts, etc.
