Seems like a really solid Elemental for N'Zoth, God of the Deep, and it offers a very imposing threat to your opponent if it's allowed to stick around.
It's a lot of stats, but it clashes with the two main ways we actually want to play Big Demons right now, Vanndar Stormpike and Proving Grounds. I don't see it being good enough by itself to replace those.
Good statline and good anti-aggro effect, so you would think it would be a good card... However it costs 4 mana, which means you can't really run it alongside Vanndar Stormpike and Proving Grounds. And that hurts Warden of Chains a LOT, considering BIG DH is probably the best deck to slot it into. And if you dont get the battlecry, its just a Stegodon without a tribe. But still it does have a lot of potential, and who knows what kind of support it will get.
Its disappointing that the stat gain is so low. A 3/8 taunt on 4 is very good for its cost, but its only slightly better than the usual vanilla 3/6 and this one comes with a condition that's very testing. Had this been a 4/8 or even a 3/10 taunt it might make more sense to actually want to make it work, because bear in mind that if you dont fulfill the conditions, its a mere Stegodon which is frankly shit.
At least we know it'll never fit a big dhunter deck. Its anti synergy with Vanndar and Proving Grounds, the latter of which is currently one of the most important card in this failing archetype.
But honestly, it might just be a fit in midrange tempo or deathrattle dhunter assuming there's enough support for it. Because if you can consistently curve out into a 3/8 taunt on 4, and then proceed to play big boys on 5 and above, this is just good, great even.
Silly T5, games never reach 10 mana and you're giving us a card trying to sell the 20 mana dream?
Now seriously, I would love the design much more if Wildheart Guff didn't mean more solitaire "I win" bull*s-word*. Because lets face it: as much fun as the dream of putting more than one big chunk of stats per turn from your hand is, Druid is still a combo class and Wildheart Guff will be treated as the alternative for when Lady Anacondra gets discarded by Fungal Fortunes.
It's odd to see a neutral that bundles a 2-mana class card (Defile) with a 3-mana neutral (Spider Tank) and have no cost penalty. I suppose the trick here is that Defile on 2 or 3 is way more impactful than Defile on 5, when the 1 damage breakpoints are harder to line up. So, the bundling is worse than it looks, but this is still a solid board clear for a class that has limited AOE but wants to dabbling in slower, controlling decks.
Warden of Chains reminds me of Twilight Guardian, in the sense that Warden of Chains is also a big beefy guy that combats early aggression. However, there's one big difference between the two: Twilight Guardian has other dragons to curve into him, while Warden of Chains doesn't, due to the nature of Big DH. That's why that 4 mana 3/6 Taunt was better than this 4 mana 3/8 Taunt. That and the massive powercreep, but that's another issue.
Warden of Chains is a good anti aggro tool for Big DH, I just feel there's something else missing.
While the statline is good the deck you'd put this in is genuinely awful. Big Demon Hunter still suffers quite a bit from the fact that most of its draw options are Outcast based and clash with the big boys. It also struggles through not being able to really make any progress before turn 6 (and this 3/8) will barely slow down the many tempo decks that can come up with answers to this.
I'll try it again but as of yet there's not enough glue to hold the deck together (and no, just running this alongside Inquisitor is not consistent enough)
It probably has to do with it being a giant, and so playing with the giant theme of conditional discounts. Also, both Ivus and Lok'holar were summoned into AV, and usually only a long time into the battle after people had dumped all their turn-ins (and so were bloodied a bit).
And more speceficly for the icelord it was blood that the Horde turned in to summon him
Vanndar Stormpike has just come out and they're already printing anti-synergy...
I tried Big Demon DH many many times and it's just not a good deck, no matter what you do with it. You don't have the tools to play the slow game and your lategame bombs are just not strong enough to close out the game. A 4-mana 3/8 taunt won't fix that (although an unnerf to Priestess of Fury could probably help a lot, *wink*)
I doubt this will see constructed play unless we're really desperate for boardclears. Most classes have cheaper and less conditional boardwips of their own.
Anti-synergy with the new Duel they printed for DH, but it could push it into a less highrolly and more gradual playstyle… I hope it’ll work honestly. Taunt is good but good luck playing it with how fast the game is right now
You're heavily overrating this one. Defile was good because it'S 2-mana and because you could change breakpoints with spell damage. Godfrey was good because he's always a flat 2-damage which makes breakpoints more consistent.
This basically requires you to set the board up beforehand because you probably can't rely on your opponent to just line them up for you. Defile was a really bad card whenever you didn't have the means to manipulate the health on board.
At 5 mana there’s a lot less wiggle room to adjust health values to get the perfect defile, but the 3/4 body could well make up for it. Of course, this all depends on Druids not cheating a million mana in a turn and getting minions who are way out of the range of a defile by turn 5
Arena: Playable at 10 mana, though this is worse than Darkmoon Rabbit when used as removal as you can also choose not to attack. Needless to say, this is a real powerhouse at 5 mana.

another toy for evenlock, maybe, the fact you can't play this for 0-3 mana like the other giants could make this feel to slow for wild
