I know what you are thinking right now "Doesn't that happen every Expansion?" and the answer is actually no. The mode has been in "Season 1: Wizzard Duels" since its release. Your memories might mix something up with the "rating reset" coundtown which let to the "Season 1 mid-Season" update in January.
I havn't found any evidence on a Saison update for the Barrens expansion on the Internet. Only that there was a nameless big content update
Season 1 came with 10 heroes with 1 HP and starting Treasure each aswell as a bunch of passive and active Treasures for the runs. I expect something similar with the potential "Mercenary Duels" in Season 2.
Funfact: Since it said "Next Season in 1 > Month" two Months ago I looked up this screen every time after they patch the game and today it was finally worth it.
Since some of you are very easily discouraged, I have cooked up a functioning Control Priest list that can hold the line against aggro decks and still play the long game. Use it. Learn it. And don't complain when you lose to Hunter because you failed to manage your ressources accordingly.

It's not gonna be a tier 1 deck (as it shouldn't be anyways) but I'd be very surprised if you couldn't take this to Legend in the current meta (which I can't prove unfortunately because I'm already there).
Just play super safe into both Shaman and Demon Hunter and always except them to have the best cards in every situation because if you don't they will blindside you and you die.
Neither are super interesting, but I think the Mage one is better.
Cheese
Famous Pilots is the most interesting of the bunch, and it basically turns your Mech into a Sneed's Old Shredder. The problem is that amount of stats is pretty huge. I think Peculiar Pilots is more balanced.
Did not notice there was already a thread of this brawl, but now I have played countless games to the point where I can notice the meta.
So "Overloaded! + Wisdom 76" is the best deck, period. You can deal up to 18 damage outright, and it's not hard to get lucky with your draw to get Rockbiter Weapon, Lava Burst or Molten Blast, at that point which you can just OTK on turn 1. Mirrors are decided on whoever gets to OTK in one turn first, then on whoever didn't get the Coin. EDIT - you can hope for Far Sight as your last ditch effort to draw one of those three cards.
I feel like "Choices, Choices + Swarm 67" is one deck that comes even close to defeating that OTK deck, and it can do alright on both going first and second. When starting, Hero Power twice, pray for no OTK, then Hero Power Twice and use Zephrys's Lamp to find Pyroblast, or Inner Demon since Fireheart will be at exactly 8 HP. When going second, you can dig for Alexstrasza and heal back to 20 Health.
Basically the Lamp is your best bet against the 76 deck, because you can dig for either Alex or Pyro, or even a solid enough defensive card to the point you can quickly stabilize and turn the game around, but that is much more rare.
It is random I know, but damn that is just a culmination of insane synergy. I even concede every game I am not in the Shaman Mirror to find a possible counter.
I am honestly baffled how this was allowed to slip through.
It didn't, every deck is randomly generated. The whole point of the Burndown brawls are to find out which randomly generated deck is the most broken one.
Title says it all. I am honestly baffled how this was allowed to slip through. Not even Choices, Choices + Swarm 67 or Agression 122 are as strong, they look like Innkeeper's decks comapred to this Quel'delar monstrosity.
Just hit Level 143, with only 5,300 gold. Not too happy with my progress, it's just tough to level up when your quest tray is empty. Looks like the most levels I can hit per week is 10, which means I'll top out at around level 170. I was hoping to hit at least level 200, but oh well.
Since it's Nozdormu Day, I put Nozdormu in my Deathrattel DH. I played 7 games with it and only faced one that had Noz as well. Come on, guys! Put the damn dragon in your decks, you cowards
Commencement Dragon Paladin on wild ladder with all 3 Nozdormu! Such a fun deck that I use it even when not Nozdormu the Eternal day. Didn't hit any other Nozdormu decks but I won 2 of the 3 matches. Considering how weirdly I built the deck that was a nice surprise. I think I mostly confused my opponents especially with Nozdormu the Timeless.
Even with the quest complete I'll hit up that ladder later see if I can get at least one activation for Nozdormu the Eternal.
I'm happy you like it :) Sneed's is indeed a cool addition to the bunch which can result in outright hilarious games. I'd rather cut one of Carrion Studies, Bear Trap or Quick Shot instead of bird though because that card is basically your win condition against Raza Priest and most other Reno decks. At least that's my idea of a compromise between having fun and staying competitive (which is the spirit of the whole deck to begin with).
Depends on your definition, feel the rush pulls out two other cards from your deck and is therefore a 3 card self contained combo. Lor is definately a strange game. Like harrowing is similar, it's one card that pulls out all the other cards you already played and is most definately a combo piece
Feel The Rush is as much of a combo card as emergent ultimatum is a combo card in MTG and both aren't fitting the description of a combo card imo.
Yes there might be synergy between the cards you fetch from the mega tutor effect but if you don't have to assemble any set of cards but instead play one tutor to fetch all the cards you need you play control with a combo'ish finisher, not combo.
I also thought it was going to be a legendary quest in addition to our daily one, but I wouldn't call this greedy.
They organized an event with the intent to utilize a meme card and gave us additional experience to participate in it. There is nothing bad here, where is the greed? It would have been nice to get an additional quest, but it is unfair to say they are greedy because they aren't as generous as we would like.
I find the idea of not being able to discover legendary cards intriguing. It would make them feel more special and rare, but would also probably make a lot of people mad since it is just such a big change. If an excess of legendary minions is a problem they could have the same rule in MTG where if you control more than one copy of a legendary minion on your side of the battlefield, you have to sacrifice one of them. Knowing Hearthstone they would probably impalement it so that you simply cannot play the second copy at all, instead of letting you play it and then making you sacrifice one.
However, I don't think the issue is that players are able to control multiple legendary minions at once, but that players are able to play the same legendary minion multiple times throughout the game when ideally they should only be played once. So the MTG legendary rule probably wouldn't help.
Dean is probably right and that the best solution is to just make fewer discover/random generation. But it is still an interesting thing to think about.

I am in the same boat. I don't really like all of these cosmetics and I don't like the idea of having purchasable game boards. But then I remember that the more money blizzard makes off of cosmetics the less money they need to make off of selling cards.
Why can't we progress through achievements in casual, when achievement playing is the definition of casual playing?
Why do I have to go to wild mode and interact with moronic douchebags that see someone play Lorewalker Cho into Sigil of Summoning and feel the need to immediatly kill the Cho with anything on their disposal, even their own spells? How awful can you be to do that?
Feel the rush was exactly the combo card I was thinking of. I've seen it run in all sorts.of lists with all sorts of Champs...want to know why because as a combo card the exact decklist doesn't matter as long as it excels as stalling out the game and giving you that magical top deck.
Feel The Rush is not a Combo card my friend. Combo means a combination of multiple cards, Spectral Matron is combo card since you need to have another 8+ unit to get its effect. Lee Sin is another example of a combo card since he doesn't do anything by himself you need to have two other spells in hand to get his effect. Feel the Rush doesn't need to have another card in your hand or in the board to get it's effect.
Duels Season two is coming in two weeks!
Thank god, I'm so tired of seeing the same 10 clown faces every game.
No Willo, I don't give a shit what your inner conflict is and why you feel the need to tell everyone in this fucking school how it manifests.
