I picked the quest up later in the run but i played the big murloc only once in a 12-1 run. I'm pretty sure it's better to open with an actual 1-drop and snowball as fast as possible. When you hit double battlecries, you don't run out of value anyways.

Why not the quest?

7-0 with Fireshaper, then I met three(!) Shamans murlock. Can't do anything against, there are so quick (battlecry one less and double battlecry, all three of them :/)

I'll ask the question that's on everyone's minds. Will it queue up the Phil Collins song of the same name when played? If so, this is a 5 star card.  

Remember when they said this miniset would be more spell-school focused?

I thought they meant things like... a set that encourages building around spell schools, not 4 minions, only two of which are probably worth playing. 

And then there are adventureres, which is a really cool flavourful idea given that Wailing Caverns is a pretty low level dungeon for raiding. But like spell schools, there are a whopping 4 support cards, 3 of which are unplayably bad and the ooze is pretty good in Deathrattle DH, but you'd probably run Felrattler instead.

It felt like Blizzard had too many ideas to fit into one miniset and decided to go half-and-half with the adventurers and spell schools, but then there were too many ideas that didn't have anything to do with either theme that they didn't want to take out. The only thematic consistency I've noticed is Hunter getting repeatedly shafter by these cards that don't go face or push any other archetype (I think Sin'dorei Scentfinder is probably the worst card design to come out of Blizzard in a while).

You'd think that minisets would allow Blizzard to be a lot more extravagant and creative with card designs, especially considering how they didn't let mechanics unique to an expansion limit them in Darkmoon Races and Galakrond's Awakening. But I'm willing to be optimistic, maybe we're all hilariously wrong and these cards actually significantly impact the meta, or perhaps Blizzard's got some spicy things planned for us in a future patch. Maybe spell school synergy will be a recurring mechanic in future expansions (I don't know if it was confirmed whether or not this is the case already). We know that the expansions this year are part of another 3-set story like Year of the Dragon, so maybe adventurer synergy will come later. This could all also not happen.

That is why I like the Perpetual Flame golden animation a lot, because an actual flame is seemingly coming out of the card. 

Aye, technically. But we couldn't make ultimate conclusions based on the account of just one random stranger who might've speed clicked their way through pack openings, blinked and missed it, or didn't even count correctly. Or they hit some weird bug. It's better to know for sure after multiple reports. 

Would definitely recommend opening packs AFTER purchasing the mini-set. Main reason being, it increases your chances of getting missing cards that aren't in the miniset. You ideally wouldn't want extra duplicates from the mini-set as they decrease the value of the mini-set bundle. I'd also recommend not opening any packs at all and save them for the next expansion (if they standard packs).

I didn't buy the mini-set for DMF and instead went the pack route, still missing cards 😒

After I think, otherwise you run the risk of getting epics or legendaries from the miniset when you could have got stuff you'll be missing

only if miss many things from alot/all sets, else its better to buy packs for the set youre misisng for, and espcially for legendaries as are aot of horrible legendaries in the past that cant even be used to meme with at all 

I am buying the mini-set for gold. Ridiculous good value, so a no brainer.

But I wonder if there are any consensuses to open Barrens/Standard packs before of after purchase of the mini-set?

I can see pros and cons with both before & after but can't really make up my mind.

Or it is just in the category "really does not matter"?

Agreed, ever since Pit Commander was released in AoO, I've wanted big demon DH to be a thing. Let's hope today is the day

As cool as the budget decks sound, I'm intrigued by Shattering Blast and freeze mage, especially since it's probably good at handling big buffed minions from Paladin.

That being said, I'm definitely gonna try out a big Demon Hunter deck.

I can see people doing that.. on the other hand it might finally counter the OP spell mage.. Play it and make them concede

Yes, I called it.

Only 3/5 have to be the same and it's not as annoying because despite being entirely RNG all you really have to do is keep playing the spells until it happens,  which you're gonna do anyways because of the other Adventurer achievement.

Tormenter requires your opponent to play into your card multiple times (and not just concede if you softlocked them out of the game)

It's great, but I guess it's too slow. Stealer of Souls is 4 Mana, Plot Twist 2. So the earliest you can do is turn 6. You're dead by then imho. But I'll try, looks fun.

 

This one is going to be easy.. Play that demon guy that fills both players board with 1/1 imps then use this spell achievement completed.

Using him is how I completed the Imp summoning achievement. 

Nah it has to be Friends Like Me. Complete rng no control. I'm sure someone a lot smarter than me can figure out the math behind how many times you would have to cast this spell for it to roll 4/5 all being the same.

I can't wait.  This patch looks great.  I don't want to be that guy, BUT I hope this patch doesn't break 1,001 other things.  (fingers crossed)
