YES Secret Level is available! I quit the game for, like, a year-and-a-half, and one of the best card-backs ever just happened to be released during that time; what a bummer that was! Molten Core is a solid addition, too.
Sorry for the wait and a little awkwardly I have won the first month of standard since R and Fedrion were also able to guess that riddle. Scores are on page 123.
Yeah but there was no way that a miniset would alter the meta THAT drastically, it's not like when they printed Darkmoon Races and all of Wild was Hysteria Warlock. I think the slight resurgence (at least what I'm seeing) of a decent Aggro Shaman is good, so the changes did their job.
Got legendary in my 9th pack but some people on reddit state otherwise. One didn't get a legendary in first 10 and the other got on 20th. Still not sure if they bought the standard bundle few weeks ago
Kinda frustrating, but I guess it makes sense. The more it scales in damage the more it scales in cost.
The fact that it is a board clear does make it kinda interesting. You clear your opponents board for 1 mana, then on their turn they can play more minions and you won't be able to respond because of the overload. It is effectively a cheap board clear that gives your opponent extra time to recover from.
The uniqueness aspect definitely sucks, I think it would have been neat of Blizzard to make the outline of the deck slot golden if you got a card back the first time it was available. It would be a very minor thing to make people stand out while letting everyone enjoy all the card backs.
It does look like some stuff will remain exclusive longer though, the pre-order card backs that are available are ancient history at this point, so that might be the best source of "cool" now.
I won't lie though, it'll be awesome to see people rocking even more card backs on ladder now. A whole new card back meta game just began =)
As a BG player I can tell you it is pay to win also. Having 2 choices of heroes (rather than the 4 you pick from when you spend $) is painful.
That i don't agree with. I've been playing BGs with 2 hero choices quite a bit and it's not that big a deal. Just don't pick nzoth :) you can place top 4 most of the games, and your hero doesn't really matter. It's all about how much the others highroll or you lowroll.
True, it had been listed as a 'new game mode' in both the Year of the Phoenix and Gryphon schedules
That's not 100% true. There are some differences between the mode in the two Roadmaps:
- unlike Duels, they revealed the second new game mode as part of the last expansion (it was "Spell locked" before). Which means that they weren't sure if they could make it in time (which turned out to be true)
- They never really talked about the new game mode in the Year of the phoenix, but announced it together with an gameplay description for the Year of the gryphon
- The mode was just called "new game mode" in the Year of the Phoenix Roadmap, but "Mercenaries" in the Year of the Gryphon one and is there planned for the first phase (aka this expansion).
Last but not least it's also important to keep in mind that the mode has been in the works for well over a year now and has been silently delayed once already. I can't imagine them delaying another time when they already felt comfortable announcing it. Plus the merc team is currently entierely focused on shiping the mode accoarding to the Q&A.
As I believe Flux remarked here - most definitely! The main achievement article actually had links added to Priest and Rogue as well (with Shaman soon to follow) before the Wailing Caverns release, we just figured we would hold on with front page spotlights until we've had a chance to test things and update once the client has been all patched.
I'll be jumping straight into that the coming weekend and over the following week, so some guides might see sneaky updates here and there (we'll holler once it's fully done). I hoped to be a little quicker, but life certainly had other plans as of late. At least catching up steadily.
Hmm, I'm curious about that possibility with one-for-all decks. For some classes it might remain fairly doable, for others I imagine you would need to have the stars align as it can become quite awkward trying to target everything at once otherwise.
Well fuck. Who needs to play well when you can just find double Incanter's, draw half your deck, drop double ring toss for 2 mana each, and cheap burn for days? Fuckin' deck pilots itself.
The whole champion expansion is just an excuse. Anyway they did make another post were they said that they were going to re-evaluate their design philosophy. All we can do now is hope that they are honest and have learned from their mistakes.
I've played a couple games with this, really fun when you pull it off. Weakness I see so far is having a small minion on table to target with Vol'jin for your big drops.

Our Thoughts on Today's Paladin Balance Changes
Avalon was very concise with his thoughts. All well stated.

Standard and Wild Packs to be Purchasable in the Hearthstone Shop Like Normal Expansion Packs
I wish I could exchange all my Classic Packs for Wild Packs
How is this okay
This is not a 6 card combo. The point is to play stealer + plot twist and then draw your entire deck from there.

What do you mean remove the buff part of the card? 2 mana draw a card? Lol
Our Thoughts on Today's Paladin Balance Changes
Paladin is still the best class by a wide margin. MAybe next year they'll figure out which cards are actually the problem

There are still 2 months until the next expansions. It's probably launching as either part of the fire-festivale or next expansion's pre-purchase.

New Balance Patch
Yeah I had heard that they got destroyed on redit and responded with a oh no wait we're totally gonna do what we did before soon.
So yeah, when ignoring the community doesn't work the next logical step is to put your arrogance aside as a game dev and listen.
