I agree, Shaman has a number of very good cards. It needs another Cagematch Custodian-like card to bring all its potential archetypes to life, such as Burn or Murloc decks. We'll see if that card (or card draw at least) emerges from the mini-set.
Paladin, meanwhile, has so many overtuned cards that piddling nerfs just won't fix. Conviction (Rank 1), Hammer of the Naaru (such an insane weapon, they really should scale this back), Oh My Yogg!, and the entire Libram package are just too strong and efficient. The devs were clearly trying to revitalize Paladin with all these cards, but they went way too far with it, imo. Now the class is a monster that's almost on par with Demon Hunter in AoO, in that it needs several nerfs to balance them.
I worry the same thing will happen with Shaman in the future, wherein the devs try to make up for the class being in the bottom tier for so long that they shower it with OP cards and synergies.
Wailor - All of them is nice and flavorfull. Puryfing Flames is strong, but maybe it should be 2 mana? Forest Fire has an interesting combo. Also I think that Hibernate's effect is not allowed, beceuse of "friendly Beast". It's ok for hunter, but bad when other classes gets it.
linkblade91 - Maybe it's just me, but I don't like all this "loses divene shield" stuff.
Demonxz95 - Now it's like a Healing Touch with downvote. I think it should me 2 mana or give more armor
I assume what you mean is to take a page out of MTG's book where there is a clear distinction between creatures and tokens (things summoned by spells or creatures)? That would be effective, but it would likely require an overhaul of a lot of the game's code. Because the game doesn't already distinguish between units and summoned tokens, suddenly introducing tokens as a mechanic would require rewiring almost every other card in the game to work around tokens as a mechanic. But who knows, maybe they find a workaround that can solve the issue with relative ease.
I feel they are holding back on buffing shaman because of the upcoming mini set or the next expansion.
Some shaman cards just needs some glue card to bring them together. They have strong cards like Bru'kanand Novice Zapper but no nature spells or they have good tempo murlocs like Spawnpool Forager, South Coast Chieftain, Firemancer Flurgl but has no access to card draw. For other archetypes, card draw in general is lacking in shaman which makes a deck hard to use.
In the history of HS, from what I recall, Team 5 seems to have difficulty in balancing Shaman, it is either bonkers broken (like Gala Shaman, Evolve Shaman) or weak to the point of unplayability.
That's basically giving your opponent value, and will kill the card.
Somehow someway someone will figure out some stats that will immediately make the card completely unplayable. One easy example would be playing any 9 mana spell automatically gifts your opponent a free Libram of Hope.
What do you guys think about nerfing Oh My Yogg so that it refunds the mana you used for the spell? Because a 1 mana Counter Spell is just way too good right now.
That xBlyzes issue is really one of the first I've ever seen in hearthstone. We really shouldn't speculate and let due process work it out, but it really has stained some bit in competitive hearthstone history. Doesn't help that europe tends to be super tight when relegation comes along, and as a result of this act Zymn is placed in a better position for safety.
I don't think there's ever going to be enough evidence to make a call. But certainly blizz should start looking for ways to stop accidents like this from happening. Would it really be too much for them to make a phone call if someone was 10 minutes late, and let it play out outside of live telecast?
I hard agree with an Oh My Yogg! nerf. We have terrible data on how effective it is since the HSReplay data focuses on Mulligan win-rate and played win-rate, and it's always going to be a superior win-rate when it's cheated out by Sword of the Fallen. Another decent target would be bringing Northwatch Commander's health down to 3.
Lots of unusual stuff happening in Europe this weekend:
- As mentioned, xBlyzes missing his match.
- Also, Viper encountering some connection problems at a critical juncture during his match against AyRoK, prompting a redo of the final game.
- Jarla making uncharacteristically risky decisions in the final moments of his last 2 games versus Frenetic. In both cases, he ignored an obvious threat and went with very minor board development.
Tier S is an overexaggaretion. It's true that it has been one of the strongest decks since FitB launch, but it's not unbeatable and certainly nothing compared to Day 1 DH or Galakrond Shaman. The nerfs also never aimed removing the deck for the meta, but to slightly weaken it to bring it closer to the other decks.
Intended to pair well with Bolvar, Fireblood and Light's Sorrow. I might increase the cost so I can increase the buff to +2/+4 or something more substantial.
Paladin has been tierS for 1.5 month and now they are saying we could have done better and we should be looking forward to miniset? I got sick to paladin since scholomance...

Maybe it could increase the cost of the spell that is changed? So if you play a 2 cost spell Yogg makes it a random 3 cost spell instead.
Easiest Fix For Irelia Azir

Easiest Fix For Irelia Azir
So as stated previously Irelia and Azir are only (overpowered) in the deck where they are both present.
Or more specifically when daggers spawn sandman effectively forming an extra full board attack with free resources.
Easiest fix - an attack consisting of summoned units can no longer trigger the spawning of summoned units.
So daggers still work fine on their own, and sandman will work with scouts but Irelia Azir will no longer be quite as synergistic.
Not sure of this viable from a coding perspective but it would potentially fix everything without "nerfing" anything
