I'd like to see a Heroic mode for Dungeon Run. Additionally, some of the final bosses feel like coinflips (for example building a control deck and having to beat Azari). I'd love to see the mode made more challenging and less "do you have X thing".
I don't know why they nerfed Spring Water because "we're aiming to lower the frequency of extreme turns where Refreshing Spring Water draws cards and gains you mana in the process." but left Incanter's Flow untouched, when Incanter's Flow can still achieve the same effect.
Got the 100 today. My second pic was Arcanist Jaina. No easy choice since I got 1000 win Jaina just recently and love the fire theme.
As for the achievment rewards, i'm super happy with Valeera but not sure what i'm gonna pick next... Guldan is nice but i have the difficult choice between Mecha Jaraxxus and N'zoth already... Maybe Druid? But Hamul is still so fresh!
Am I the only one that's suffering from portrait overdose?
1000 win portraits were nice at the time but i would much prefer an upgraded frame to show this achievment EVERY game, not only when i pick the portrait.
Looking at the most recent region stats Irelia Azir is the only tier 1 deck at 56% winrate and it looks like its forcefully dropped every other deck down which a sign of a hot fix waiting to happen.
I think people are singling out Irelia Azir unfairly if you look at mobalytics the far more concerning issue is that literally 3/4 of the tier list is aggro, punctuated by one or two midrange, control, and combo decks respectively. That's very limiting in terms of deck variety.
But Azir/Irelia is the reason for the lack of variety, no one plays control because they all have abysmal match up against that deck, even Lissandra/Trundle a deck who can beat Spider, Discard and Nightfall aggro without problem, gets completly destroyed by Azir/Irelia.
Here a video of master player Ultraman using Ez/draven, he face against Azir/Irelia 3 times. The first at 02:32, the second at 07:58 the last one at 30:14
This should give you an idea about how favorable the match up is when you face competent players rather than random netdeckers.
I'm at Level 81, been ranking up with Primordial Clown Druid which almost took me to legend. It just stomped all over everything in the first few days after the nerfs, but it's an instant loss to any aggro deck if you can't ramp up to your top-end cards by turn 5. I fooled around with a Frenzy Control Warrior so I could give my Overlord Saurfang a spin, it's a lot of fun but it's not very competitive.
I just got the second Xyrella skin at level 80, and it's so lackluster. There's not even that much animation in it. Blizzard really needs to make more of these portraits worthwhile, I feel like I didn't get my money's worth with the Tavern pass since half of the locked portraits are very subpar (the only good ones are the first two Kurtrus skins, the 1st and last Xyrella skins, and the Firefang Rexxar). The Rokara ones are absolutely horrible, and my gripe is that her artwork has been very inconsistent in everything she's on. Her face looks different in all three skins, in the legendary card, and even in Rancor and Conditioning (Rank 1). They really did this cool character dirty with inconsistent, uninspired art.
A few days after the nerfs and buffs, it's safe to say that the meta is mostly the same. Paladins, Hunters, Warriors, and Mages are still running rampant, with the most noticeable change being an uptick in Demon Hunters, though with Paladin still strong it's unlikely they'll dominate. In the first two days after the patch, I had a lot of success with a Primordial Clown Druid that I took from Diamond 10 to as high as Diamond 2, feasting on Priests, Warlocks, and DHs. That is, until the meta began to settle and I faced lots of Paladins and Mages again.
Shaman and Warlock still suck as expected, with Priest being a minor annoyance with their hard-removal, reactive game plan and nothing else.
From my experience on ladder, Paladin is just too out of control. It's just mind-boggling that the devs didn't nerf Conviction (Rank 1), and the nerfs to First Day of School and Crabrider didn't slow down the class at all, as expected. Shaman's cards aren't *that* bad; it's just that their game plans are too fair compared to the rest of the field, like the class is still stuck in Classic Hearthstone or something.
We'll have to wait for the mini-set to actually shake things up.
I would love a slight update on Dungeon Runs, to match the updates done in Duels, e.g. receive more relevant treasures to your deck, so that you don't have to repeat it 1000 times until you receive the treasure you need.
Probably because players find Ire / Az so suffocating that you either play whatever hard counters or lose he’ll even with what I thought would stall that deck I lost. Now that players are refining that deck it’s getting even better. Out of 6 gold games 3 were Az / Ire
dragons / lifesteal and healing you just can’t match their damage output. Blade dance need to cost more mana to start or summon less. Or landmarks need to be changed to first time you attack summon such and such. I
Exactly. I have been saying this since Dungeon run came out: let us do daily quests there, that alone would up the popularity of this, or other PVE modes, a lot. But i guess it would also mean a drop in PVP play, which is what they dont want.
I hate Paladin so goddamn much right now. Every deck I want to play still dies to all of its stupid archetypes. Makes me want to kick the devs in their stupid little faces. Why won't the class just die???
That would definitely be a hard no for me. I loved the first dungeon runs. Played them a ton with all the classes, experimented a lot. And once Bob's Tavern was added, it became even more interesting. But what I was looking forward to after that was new solo content not retreading the old. And no, Book of Heroes sure ain't it, that, for me, is just wasted development time, it's dull as dishwater.
Aside from that, it also seems like the HS team is stretched thin enough as is, without adding another thing to the plate. Let's see. The only formats that seem to receive what I would deem a proper amount of support is Standard and maybe Battlegrounds. BGs have received a burst of content recently but before that, after the removal of the Darkmoon Prizes, it was real samey and uninteresting for quite a while and I would definitely not call the format balanced. Wild has been in need of balancing for quite some time IMO (the same three to four oppressive decks have been dominating the meta for like a year) and nothing of significance has happened. Tavern Brawls are an afterthought. Duels need a complete overhaul/redesign/scrapping and coming up with something else, cause they're flawed from the very fundamental concept (you can have fun with builds and treasures in dungeon runs against the AI, you can't have much fun when all opponents are tryharding you, that will never change). Can't speak for Arena, haven't played it in years. I dread to think what the state of Mercenaries is going to be.
All these things need attention, that's not even mentioning the development of future sets and mini-sets. Adding constant updates to old Dungeon Runs when the team is obviously already struggling doesn't seem like a worthwhile investment of resources. When all modes receive their proper amount of attention, we can consider things like this. We're not anywhere close to there yet.
Hi, I would be more than happy to provide you with some advice about playing this deck... I hope it will help you out!
First of all, you could have had an unlucky streak. There is no way I can tell you right now without seeing playbacks or going more in-depth about those games you played. The decks you mentioned are not unfavored for Big Shaman, but can have explosive starts too. Receiving 20 damage by turn 3 does sound like they had insane openings. Anyways, let us start off with some general mulligan tips.
I always keep Ancestor's Call, no matter the matchup. Against Big Priest this can have undesired outcomes, but we are not sure if it is Reno Priest or not so we just do not care. Against Reno Priest it can even work like a Dirty Rat especially if you can follow it up with Devolve or Devolving Missiles. This effect is also perfect against APM Mage.
Second (almost) always keep is Lightning Bloom, because you want to combo out as fast and furious as possible. When you go second and have The Coin, very few decks can handle a normally 8+ mana cost minion on board by turn 2 which is what the deck is all about. Otherwise playing the combo before turn 6 is often times still very hard to deal with.
If you have either Ancestor's Call or Eureka! in hand, now it is time to also keep a big minion in hand. Except Muckmorpher any other minion would do, but the dream is obviously Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound. If Muckmorpher is also in your hand, you run the risk of comboing him out instead which is of course undesired. That is why I try to play him first before going off with the combo.
The turns you are not slamming face, you just try to keep the board as clear as possible with your spells, but do not overextend this because we can heal up with Healing Rain and Walking Fountain. If you still have mana left on a turn, just press the hero power button to have some decoys for your face on the board. Having weak totems on board is bad if you run into a Psychic Scream, but if that happens it will be a loss anyways.
Against Reno Priest this deck is unfavored even though it can win against them, but Lady Luck needs to be on our side. Running into Zephrys the Great is usually a horror show for us, because they will likely pick Hex, Shadow Word: Death or a cheap Silence spell. A single copy of Ancestral Spirit is in this deck to make a cheated out minion even more sticky, just in case the opponent is able to kill it.
By the way, my latest version runs Sphere of Sapience which helps out a lot if you have it in your opening turns.
PS.: I do not give deck advice or write guides often, so these tips might be a bit unstructured. I still have some more tips to share, but they are for really specific situations which require lots of text to write down. These general tips should do the trick already fine I think.

Going for the caravan achievement against a Big Priest and the game got... weird.
Keep in mind: the only minions in my deck are the two original copies of Soothsayer's Caravan.
